I Am The Only Witch Hunter-Chapter 333: Shadow Skinwalker
’Master won’t leave two different messages at the same time. Unless he did it for a reason. Maybe because he knows it is absolutely necessary.’ Ashe wiped her hand over the message in the normal language. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
The curve of the letters were particular, it didn’t look like it was carved out by a knife or any type of tools.
’His message was altered. But the Alchemical Patterns weren’t. It can only alter what it understands.’
Ashe found a wooden stick on the ground and carved onto the altered message. She looked at it for a while and waited. But nothing changed.
’It won’t change in front of me, huh? Cunning bastard.’
Ashe ignored the message then looked down to the wooden pole. She tapped on the skull. The rope bridge turned into a stone bridge for her to cross.
At the same time, Quinlan had also found his way out of the woods. He noticed Bas standing at the edge, waiting for him.
"Bas?" Quinlan said.
"You’re finally here! I’ve been waiting for you." Bas said grimly.
Quinlan’s eyes twitched gently.
"Let’s go to the town." He said.
"After you."
Quinlan and Bas headed to the town.
In the small village, Siderius continued to wipe the shadow creatures one by one. He also found some survivors that hadn’t been corrupted by Profunda yet. Siderius told them the same thing as before and advised them to find a place to hide.
He finished cleaning up half of the town and now started the second half.
The house this time belonged to some kind of travelling merchant with a lot of tools and particular items lying around. There were three shadow creatures wandering around. One in front of the back door. One was walking up and down the stairs. And one was staring into a painting.
The stair one looked over to the painting one, but it had a few seconds blind spot when it walked back up the stair.
Siderius timed it when it had its back turn and rushed at the one at the painting. His Silver Hawk sliced over the shadow creature and decapitated it quickly. Then he continued to the back door and kicked it outside. The one on the stairs didn’t suspect anything.
The shadow creature fell face first on the ground. It was growling intensively. Siderius drove the sword into its chest and kept it pinned to the ground. Then he stomped its head with his thick boot.
The head of the shadow creature was crushed into pieces.
Siderius then returned to the house. He didn’t bother to hide. The creature on the stair rushed at him but was quickly subdued with a few slashes.
He went upstairs to look for any other hostile creature.
Siderius didn’t know what would happen afterwards so it was best to clean these creatures. He didn’t want to be overwhelmed by them.
On the upstairs hallway, Siderius noticed a machete lying on a wooden chair. The hunter picked it up and tried it in his hand.
"Pretty sturdy. Ashe and Bas probably wouldn’t have any weapons. They can use this."
Siderius brought the machete along with him. He continued to clean the second floor.
There weren’t any creatures up there. He continued to check each and every individual house. At another house, Siderius found a crossbow with a few bolts sticking on the wall.
"Crossbow... It isn’t a bow but Ashe can use this. Bas can use the machete." Siderius found a piece of cloth and tied the cross bow and its bolts onto his waist.
Soon, Siderius found a barn. In the real world, there were quite a few pigs being raised in the barn. But in Profunda, there were no pigs. Instead, some type of creature was being held down with chains around its necks and limbs.
Siderius observed it from afar and didn’t approach.
"Not the best time to deal with it right now."
The hunter backed off and slowly closed the door. He continued to clean the village.
The rest of the village was quickly cleaned. Siderius killed the shadow creatures and found places for the surviving villagers to hide.
Then he waited at the entrance of the village, hoping that the others would join him quickly.
Ashe was the first to appear.
"Master!" She smiled joyfully.
"My apprentice. How did darkness treat you? Saw any creature?"
"There were quite a few... corrupted animals, Master. But I didn’t approach them. I didn’t have any weapons."
"Wise choice."
Siderius then tossed her the crossbow. "I found this in the village. The reloading time is horrendous but its power is respectable."
"Thank you, Master." Ashe nodded.
They waited for a little bit more. Quinlan and Bas also showed up.
Quinlan acted like normal but his feet quickened up when he saw Siderius.
Siderius’ eyes flashed all types of colors as he scanned the two men. He checked their blood, their karma, and their mana. And he found something very particular.
"You’re alright?" Ashe asked.
"I am. But he isn’t." Quinlan pointed to Bas.
Bas scratched his head, "What are you talking about?"
"Stop pretending, I know you aren’t Bas. You talked different. And you have never mentioned my name since we’ve met. What is my name, huh?"
Bas smiled. A very questionable devious smile.
"You really are a smart little bastard."
Bas exploded into black smoke and black tentacles reached out from within him.
Siderius pulled Quinlan behind him. His Silver Hawk appeared on his back as he grabbed it.
Siderius moved swiftly, cutting off all the tentacles in the air.
The fake Bas growled in pain. He stumbled backwards a few steps.
"Didn’t think to see a Skinwalker here." Siderius mumbled.
"Skinwalker, Master?" Ashe said. She raised the crossbow.
Siderius nodded, "This hell has a lot of abominations walking around, my apprentice. Dreamless Walker and Skinwalker are only two of them."
Bas crumbled to the ground and started to transform. Ashe pulled the trigger and shot a bolt at him. Bas deflected the arrow away.
"Tch. This thing is useless." Ashe said.
Siderius tossed the machete to Quinlan, "I was going to give that to Bas."
"Heh. I trained quite a lot after what happened in the monastery, Siderius."
The fake Bas turned into a humanoid creature with shadow skin and long limbs. It had a long elongated tongue.
Siderius raised his sword and rested it on his silver bracer. "Come, beast"
