Kynidus acknowledged Siderius. And in return, he also replied with respect. It was a matter of honor between two swordsmen.

Kynidus didn't use his Spiritual Power. And Siderius would also not use his mutation power. The two of them would only go head to head with pure physicality and skill alone.

Kynidus rushed over. He held his sword with only one hand, his lead right hand.

The man sliced horizontally and stopped right at Siderius' chest.

Siderius' swordsmanship was more traditional and leaned toward the two-handed long sword. But he could also use a sword single-handed. The witch hunter didn't however. He prioritized his form and balance so he held his sword with two hands.

Kynidus' sword was shorter than his so he would not give up much range advantage by holding the sword with two hands.

Siderius quickly snapped Silver Hawk to the side, deflecting Kynidus' blow. He continued by redirecting the sword back to Kynidus's neck. The two motions connected to each other flawlessly. From the eyes of an outsider, it looked like one move.

Kynidus slapped the spine of Silver Hawk and caused it to go downwards before it could touch his chest. The man made a diagonal strike with very minimal body movement.

His attack was unorthodox and hidden. He never used his entire body to reinforce the blade. That was Kynidus' style.

Siderius was the opposite. As a witch hunter always faced an opponent that was stronger than him, every strike felt powerful and with a purpose.

The sneaky diagonal strike was met with a simple but effective deflection from Siderius.

And he countered the attack. Kynidus once again used a very strange tactic to defend himself.

As Siderius struck low, Kynidus used his knee to smack at the sword's spine and deflected it away.

No one should be fighting like him. It would be their death sentence. But Kynidus was able to do it. He moved like a dancer. His entire body didn't move unless it was for defense. Only his right hand moved for the attack.

"We should get more serious." Siderius whispered while keeping a smile on him.

The witch hunter let go of his left hand and only used the right hand to maneuver the blade. His attack became much faster and more deadly. Enough for Kynidus to stop using weird tactic defense and forced him to use basic but solid deflection moves.

"You're hard as a rock, Satterblade. I really hate swordsmen like you." Kynidus laughed out loud. He didn't mean what he said but he did find this swordsmanship annoying.

The type that was deeply calculated. Every strike and deflection was a chess move with more meanings underneath. It was the entire opposite of the unorthodox swordsmanship of Kynidus.

Siderius thrust forward and was once again being deflected by Kynidus. He flicked his sword over his wrist and went over Kynidus' sword. The sharp tip of Silver Hawk rushed at Kynidus.

The closest thing to Siderius' blade was Kynidus's right elbow. The Silver Hawk was directly above the right elbow and was shooting straight to Kynidus' face.

Kynidus moved his face to the side and simultaneously bumped his elbow at the sword. His combination redirected the Silver Hawk just enough for it to go pass his hair.

Kynidus immediately raised his foot and kicked at Siderius' chest. The witch hunter raised his knee and caught the kick.

The collision force pushed the two of them to the opposite direction.

The fight stopped.

"Tch. Tch. Tch." Kynidus dropped his sword and went back to the porch, "Why are you even coming to me, man? You are a good swordsman, already."

Siderius placed the Silver Hawk on his back. The sword disappeared without trace.

"My swordsmanship is acceptable. But I don't have any Spirit Art. That's the problem."

Kynidus lay on the porch again and drank from his mug. "I see. You just want my Spirit Art, eh?"

"Always did." Siderius shrugged.

"Fine. You did pass my challenge. I'll teach you and the bandage man tomorrow. But I don't guarantee how much you can learn though. That is on you." Kynidus said.

"Certainly." Siderius nodded.

"Woah!" Bas came over and patted Siderius' shoulder. "I always knew you were a dangerous little shit. Didn't think you could beat even a Spirit Master."

"Not really 'beat'. We ended before there is a result. And he didn't use his Spirit Art."

"Don't be humble now, Satterblade. For swordsmanship alone, you are not weaker than me."

"He is so good." The woodcutter clapped his hands.

"Treat them like our guest, Roran." Kynidus said.

"Of course, Master Hephaestius." The woodcutter bowed deeply.

After that, the group was led into the castle. Not many people lived inside the castle. Only the helpers were going around to take care of the castle.

The people here didn't live inside the castle because of their respect for Kynidus. Only a few who were allowed by Kynidus could stay inside the castle.

The woodcutter led the group into their guest rooms. Each one had a room individually. Even Bas and Ashe also had a room despite their failure.

That night. Quinlan sat in his room and continued on his Truth-Seeking Path. His colorless soul slowly had more and more silver cracks. Soon, he would ascend to silver just like Ashe and Siderius.

It was one of the few things that Quinlan was very good at. He had accumulated quite a lot of knowledge throughout his life. It had helped him to speed up the process a lot.

But still, Quinlan felt something was missing. A knot deep inside him.

Quinlan took a walk, hoping that he would figure out whatever it was preventing him.

He noticed Siderius was swinging his sword in the courtyard. It was pretty late at night but still, he was training.

"Very hard working." Quinlan sat on the porch watching Siderius.

The witch hunter didn't stop. He continued swinging. "It's just a habit."

"Why do you still train? You're pretty good already, Siderius."

"Not good enough, Quinn. Not enough. If you give up just a day, many things will be lost. You always have to maintain the best of your skills."

Quinlan observed Siderius for a little more while before saying what he came here for. "I felt something inside that prevented me further on the path. What is it?"

"That I cannot tell you, Quinn. Because everyone's obstacles are different. But I can tell you this. It is related to your experience."
