I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 661: The Good Person in Your Mouth (1)
Tommy Taylor walked over to open the door. Outside stood Michael Freenan and his two subordinates.
"Mr. Cooper," Michael Freenan said, walking in with a frown. "Given the complexity of this case, Kris Cooper, please come with us to assist in our investigation."
Tommy Taylor and the lawyer exchanged glances, their eyes filled with deep concern.
Kris Cooper paused for a moment in thought, then nodded slightly.
"Alright, please wait for me."
After saying this, he went upstairs and into the bedroom where Vera Wave was. The young girl was curled up, her brow furrowed. He walked to the side of the bed, tucked her blanket in more snugly, and then came back downstairs.
Tommy Taylor handed him his suit jacket. Taking it, Kris Cooper spoke in a low voice.
"You stay. Take her to my place later."
"Got it," Tommy Taylor nodded. "Don’t worry."
Kris Cooper then walked over to Michael Freenan. "Let’s go, Michael."
One of the subordinates opened the door, and the lawyer quickly collected his bag and followed Kris Cooper downstairs. They went to the Public Security Bureau in a police car.
Once at the Bureau, Kris Cooper was again taken to the interrogation room. Accompanied by his lawyer, he faced the same questions as before, but this time, Michael Freenan’s inquiries were far more detailed.
When Michael Freenan asked about the content of his conversation with Liliana Davis, Kris Cooper frowned. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"Will this... also have to be stated if it goes to court?"
Michael Freenan nodded. "In theory, yes."
Kris Cooper shrugged. "This matter involves our company’s commercial secrets. I don’t want to talk about it."
Liliana Davis was already dead. Perhaps this was heaven’s punishment for her. The matter should end here; he didn’t want this heavy burden to fall on Vera Wave too.
Michael Freenan frowned, thought for a moment, then raised a finger.
The officer who had been taking notes with him stood up and left the interrogation room.
Michael Freenan rose from his chair, walked over to Kris Cooper’s side, and said in a low, serious voice, "Mr. Cooper, I hope you can tell us exactly what happened without holding anything back. That way, we can better reconstruct the truth."
Kris Cooper lifted his face, meeting Michael Freenan’s gaze without hesitation.
"I cannot disclose the content of my conversation with her. I hope you understand, Michael."
"Michael," the lawyer interjected promptly. "According to the laws of our country, Mr. Cooper has the right to refuse to answer that question."
As Michael Freenan was about to speak, the door was pushed open. Lucille Matthias hurried in with a secretary.
"Kris!"
"Aunt Lucille!"
Kris Cooper got up.
"Er..." Lucille began, then paused. "Could you all step outside for a moment? I need to speak to Kris privately."
The lawyer looked at Kris Cooper questioningly. Seeing him nod, he and Michael Freenan both exited the room.
Lucille pulled a chair over, sat down beside Kris Cooper, and rested her hand on his arm. "Kris, tell me the truth. What exactly is going on?"
"I didn’t kill anyone. It was just an accident."
"Really?"
"Yes."
Lucille sighed in relief. "That’s good."
When she received the news, she was still in a meeting. She immediately rushed back as fast as she could. It wasn’t until she heard him say this that she could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
"Aunt Lucille, I’m sorry for making you worry."
"Oh!" Lucille sighed. "Honestly, Kris, how did you get yourself into this mess? Do your parents know?"
"They aren’t in Nicosa," Kris Cooper said with a bitter smile. "But I imagine they probably know by now."
