I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 199: The Number Tag
Chapter 199: The Number Tag
The car came to a stop ten minutes later.
"Wow!" Sage said as he came down from the car. Asher also mirrored his expression as he looked at the school building. It was a sprawling seven-storey building with stone and brick walls, adorned with pointed roofs and tall windows.
"It does not look modern." Ravi commented, it looked more like the buildings one would see in a historical series or movie.
"That is because it is not. It formerly belonged to Malcolm Darkstone, the 15th-century warlord." Her lips twitched and she looked at Asher, "When he lost the battle of Malnati in 1457, he returned home to hang himself at the foyer."
"Oh! So his ghost is still here, haunting the walls." Sage smirked as he looked at Asher who just raised an eyebrow.
"There is no such thing as a ghost, Ash. Don’t pay any attention to Sage. Besides.." Ravi rubbed his chin, "Even if there were ghosts, it still would not affect you. You are a day student, you would not be staying in the school dormitory."
Asher looked at him bewildered and Ravi chuckled, "Okay. That did not help."
A man soon approached the four of them, "Are you here for the Entrance Examination?" He was wearing a black suit with a pin-up crest at the breast pocket. His black hair was slicked back and he looked extremely professional.
"Lana Myers. Here for the teacher’s interview." She raised her phone to show him the slip. The man took the phone, the doubt in his eyes was all so evident as he looked at Lana’s young face but the invitation was bearing the crest of the school so he nodded, "Please come with me. Your interview is at the East wing." He looked at the remaining three of them and gestured to the foyer where other people were gathering, "The entrance examination is that way. Please head in quickly. The tag number is limited."
"Tag number." Ravi was confused.
"Yes, Sir. It is the admission procedure letter. There are 300 number tags for the first 300 students." He had not finished speaking when a gust of wind blew above him, a middle-aged man was carrying a teenager as two large wings flapped behind him.
They rushed into the school building.
Ravi looked at Asher and Asher looked at Ravi. They had been proud that they were twenty minutes early.
"What are you two delaying around for? Hurry up." Sage said as he started sprinting into the building. Asher followed behind him and Ravi looked up, his eyes taking note of the numerous cameras around the school building. He opened the car and leaned in, using the cover to wear a brown cap, some glasses, and a black mask before coming out.
By now, Asher had reached the entrance and was looking back at him. He walked quickly to reach the two of them.
"You look like a thief." Sage mused as he looked at him up and down.
He did. He looked at the entrance of the school. Two people were sitting down at the reception of the building, handing out white number tags. Ravi could see that the remaining tags would not reach a quarter of the students in the queue. There were two projections around the entrance hall with the words, ’Any form of disturbance, pushing, or injury from parents would lead to an automatic disqualification.’
They joined the left line which looked a little shorter than the right.
"We are not going to get in." Sage said and Ravi could see the worry flash in Asher’s eyes.
Asher had not been really worried about the school but now he had seen that it was not so easy to get in, he did not want to let go.
Ravi wondered what he should do right now, "Excuse me. Can my child take your spot?" A woman said, tapping Ravi from behind.
Ravi turned to see a middle-aged woman with red hair and green eyes, she held a white envelope which she passed to her child to give to him.
Her eyes were condensing.
Ravi shook his head, not even taking the envelope. He held back Sage as he could see that he was about to spark.
"You have not even opened it." She said,
Ravi shook his head, "No." He said coldly, facing front. frёewebηovel.cѳm
"Tsk." The woman then walked out from behind him and walked to the person in front of Ravi, she looked at him up and down before she tapped him, "Excuse me. Can my child take your spot?" Her child passed the envelope.
The man opened it and his eyes widened and he grinned, "Sure. Sure. Albert. Come, let’s go to the back."
The woman turned to look at Ravi with an expression in her eyes that Ravi did not have the strength to read before tapping the person in front of her and taking out another envelope from her pocket.
"You can cheat like that. Ravi, what are we going to do? By the time we raid Malik’s safe, it might be too late to bribe people."
A few minutes after the woman’s disturbance, there was another disturbance.
It was a young girl who looked a little younger than Asher, she wore a light yellow dress and there was blue ribbon on her blonde hair. She was followed by a woman in a suit that looked like she had not slept for days.
The girl stood at the back of the line before she raised her hand, a cold blue light spread from her hand, and every one six meters from her was frozen. She grinned and started moving the statues of the children back, she did not touch any of the adults.
By the time she occupied the space of the foremost child, the frozen children all woke up. One of the parents almost made her way towards her, but her husband whispered something into her ears. She gave the girl a harsh glare but she did not move to do anything to her, just moving back to where her son was standing.
The girl grinned and raised her hand again.
"Does that mean...?"
"Not you. Ravi, I am going ahead."
Ravi smiled, the sense of pride in his chest was something he had never felt before, "En."
Ten seconds later, an eagle flapped its wings, flying directly over the heads of other children in the line before it stood at the forefront of the line.
