I Am Your Natural Enemy-Chapter 769 - 291: Submission and Internal Conflict, The Aspect of Yin and Yang (5k)_2
"I've said it, I just want everyone involved in this to pay the price," Wen Yan reiterated his purpose.
His Fourth Great-uncle Master had made it clear to him that the ways of hundreds or thousands of years ago were no longer suitable for this era.
To exterminate the White Fox Clan Territory, sparing no one, was certainly not appropriate, as it would turn the just into the unjust.
Wen Yan had always wanted something simple. Otherwise, he wouldn't have come himself. Instead, he would have told Pei Tugou what he was planning to do.
If that one showed up and started a slaughter, Wen Yan might not be able to stop him.
By then, even the chickens they raised here would all be slaughtered.
Wen Yan intended to apply pressure, to press until the White Foxes themselves yielded.
If the other side remained stubborn and refused to yield, even if it meant being wiped out, unwilling to hand over those people, then Wen Yan would accept that outcome.
The Great Fox turned his head to look at a group of Fox Demons who had begun to reveal parts of their true forms. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"The clan leader has led you further and further astray, to the point of extremism. Over the years, quite a few White Foxes have left, one after another, and there are reasons for that. It's said that in the last ten or so years, the White Foxes who left were tempted by the outside world. That is one reason. But the most important reason is something those of you who are older or have been outside should understand. You also understand why many of those young White Foxes who left don't want to come back.
"The clan leader may not return this time. He certainly won't worry about the price that must be paid for his actions. We might just be that price. Those of you who accompanied the clan leader to do those things, step forward."
An Old Fox Demon with graying hair, upon hearing this, was instantly angered.
"Jade Fox, this is betrayal! As the guardian of the White Fox Clan Territory, is this how you act?"
The Great Fox moved swiftly, his huge paw pinning the Old Fox Demon to the ground, his gaze resolute.
"I am preserving our clansfolk. The mistakes you've made should not be borne by everyone."
The Great Fox didn't wait for the Old Fox Demon to say anything more before pressing his entire upper body into the ground with his paw.
"Those of you who were involved, step forward. Show the courage you had when you did these things. Don't wait for me to ask. If you've done something wrong, you have to pay the price."
The Great Fox was resolved: whoever was responsible for the wrongdoing would die.
"The clan leader won't let you get away with this…" a young Fox Demon had just started to shout when he was struck by the Great Fox's tail. He fell to the ground, spitting blood profusely.
"From today onwards, he is no longer the clan leader. A true clan leader would not lead the entire White Fox Clan to extinction. I will now fulfill my duty as the guardian of the White Fox Clan Territory."
The Great Fox had clearly stated his position and called for the removal of the current clan leader. The venerable elder was also dead, and another influential Old Fox Demon was pinned under the Great Fox's paw. Consequently, some Fox Demons who didn't want to be implicated began to speak out.
"The Qiulian Household was involved in this."
Internally, from that moment on, the clan was utterly divided.
Wen Yan stood on the stage, watching the Fox Demons below as they began their infighting and denunciations.
They were all from the same clan, living together in this wretched area where there wasn't even a cellphone signal. What could they possibly do to pass the time?
If they wanted to do anything, they would need their clansfolk to contribute manpower and effort, yet they'd also have to hide everything from those same clansfolk. How could that be possible?
When the threat of death loomed over everyone, even the onlookers would join in as soon as one person started; everyone would follow suit.
Nobody wanted to die just because they were implicated, to die such a suffocating and unjust death.
Wen Yan had merely killed two Old Fox Demons. After the remaining one, who also seemed to hold considerable status, was pinned to the ground, all resistance ceased.
In just five minutes, the Fox Demon camp was split into two groups.
One group stood to the side, slightly larger in number, alongside the Great Fox.
The other group consisted of a little over twenty Fox Demons. Apart from eight or nine young ones, the rest were middle-aged to elderly.
Wen Yan himself wouldn't be able to tell them apart.
But when these Fox Demons were pushed to this point, there was no chance any guilty party could escape detection.
The Fox Demons on the left, siding with the Great Fox, also feared being implicated, worried about missing even one individual and giving Wen Yan an excuse.
Those accused Fox Demons still wanted to resist desperately. They didn't dare attack Wen Yan and his companions, but when it came to fighting their own kind, there was nothing they wouldn't dare.
The Great Fox watched the opposing Fox Demons with a cold gaze.
"Did you think of your descendants when you were doing these things?"
At these words, some among the opposing Fox Demons began to hesitate.
"My grandchild has just been born; he hasn't even opened his eyes yet. He has nothing to do with this."
"I will raise him to adulthood," the Great Fox replied.
The Fox Demon opposite him visibly relaxed. He knew there was no escape for him and didn't want to engage in internecine conflict. He extended a hand, transformed it into a claw, and plunged it directly into his own heart.
"I hope your choice was not wrong. The clan leader… he truly has gone mad…"
With one down, other Fox Demons, knowing that the matter could not be resolved unless they died, began to take their own lives one after another.
Wen Yan just watched. His purpose wasn't to personally kill all these Fox Demons; he merely wanted those who had committed the wrongdoing to die. How they died did not concern him.
He saw that the only ones remaining, those who hadn't taken their own lives, were all young Fox Demons. He knew then that the problems within the White Fox Clan hadn't just appeared today.
They were deep-seated issues that had accumulated over a long time and had finally erupted now.
Wen Yan had no interest in inquiring further; he merely watched as one Fox Demon attempted a desperate fight, trying to jump onto the stage, only to be instantly repelled.
