I Awoke as an Imprisoned Villainess-Chapter 15 - You have a knack for joking
You have a knack for joking
When Malcolm Alcott, Count Alcott, returned home, everything in the mansion had changed.
“Father-”
His daughter, Julia, cries and hugs him. She had always clung to him whenever he came home, but never before, had she cried like this.
“What’s wrong, Julia”
I’m tired.
I looked around to leave her to my wife, Isabella, but she was nowhere to be seen.
I frowned my eyebrows at the annoying case, but when I heard Julia’s complaints and George, the butler’s explanations, I couldn’t believe my ears.
“What are you talking about? Such nonsens-”
“No, I swear it is the reality”
That Sophia had come out from the storage room; removed Isabella and Julia from their rooms, and has taken control of the mansion.
Julia had been moved to a small spare room which doesn’t get sunlight, and Isabella has been sleeping with the servants for a week.
“She wants me to embroider! Three hundred pieces! Isn’t that insane?? I already had enough!”
It was hard to believe at first, but judging from the way the two are acting, it’s probably the truth.
Maybe she couldn’t endure anymore and exploded. Certainly, Sophia had toxic surroundings, but before she caused troubles like this, she could have said something to me.
“…George. Anyways, stop her foolish behavior at once. Sophia should be convinced if we change her room to a slightly better room than before”
“But…..”
George, the butler, hesitated at Malcolm’s words.
“I think it would be best to talk with Sophia sama directly”
“….How bothersome”
Malcolm clicks his tongue, and George hands out a bundle of papers to him.
“What is this?”

“It’s a bill for the dresses and jewelries Sophia sama purchased”
” ! ”
I take the bill roughly and look inside. The amount of money was ridiculous, and it was spent like water.
~~~~~
I walked impatiently towards Sophia’s room while pressing my temples.
“Sophia!”
With a bang, when I opened the door with a loud noise, there was unfamiliar Sophia in a dress.
“Didn’t even knock. How rude”
At her cold voice, laced with disdain, Malcolm involuntarily lost his voice.
“—Who is this?”
The girl who looks at him with no warmth as if she’s gazing at an insect.
She is different from the girl Malcolm knows. From the girl who would softly lower her eyes without saying anything whenever they met.
“It’s not a gentleman conduct to enter a lady’s room without even knocking. ..Ah, it would just be a waste of time even if I taught you gentleman conducts. It would be more meaningful to teach the barbarians who lurk deep in the mountains”
“Wha- ….Who are you talking about!?”
I raised my voice unintentionally. No matter what, these are not the words which shouldn’t be aimed at me, the head of the family.
“First and foremost, what’s the meaning of this bill?! Changing rooms without permission; treating Isabella like a servant; what ridiculous things have you done! Just earlier, I was willing to forgive you if you apologize and show remorse, but if you are going to behave like that, then fine. I’ll marry you off as a second wife to a wealthy man!”
“Well…fufu. That’s the most rubbish among what I’ve heard recently”
Not at all intimated by Malcolm’s angry voice, Sophia smiles with amusement in her eyes. She looked at him as if she was watching a silly rat, oblivious to the fact he’s trapped.
Like that, she invited him to the empty seat, and put on a calm, disgusted smile.
“Please sit down, Malcolm Alcott. I have a pleasant story to tell you”
~~~~~
“……..”
Malcolm, having listened to the story, becomes crestfallen and speechless.
There was that story of the cathedral priest that she told Isabella too, but what shocked Malcolm the most was that Sophia was selling the medicine she made in her storage room in secret.
“You know this because you had a wife of Arbuthnot blood, don’t you? The Arbuthnot medicines are under royal family’s jurisdiction. The medicines I was making in that room are based on the formula I inherited from my mother. I wonder how His Majesty would think—if he knew I was selling these”
As she smiled, Malcolm’s face paled even more.
Violet realized after the body swapping that Sophia was selling her medicines to a pharmacy in the town, on the advice of a servant. (*Sophia give the servant medicine, then the servant goes to sell, like that. Sophia prob can’t exit the mansion)
With the small amount of money she earned, she secretly bought medicine herbs seeds and broken medicinal tools. The fact that she used the money she earned to make more medicines, and the fact that she never doubted the amount she got, is what you’d expect from an Arbuthnot. Simply put, she is a fool.
“I’d been selling those like the servant told me to, because I didn’t know anything….But surprisingly, my step mother, your second wife was paying for those. Ahh, it’s no use even if you silence me. You know from the story with the priest that I’ve been in contact with the outside world under your eyes, right? I have an ally you don’t know about”
Saying that, Violet smiled sadistically.
“Now do you understand how a daughter never owning a dress before, bought two hundred dresses; taught the second wife who had insufficient education as a noble a little, and had no problem in making the half-sister embroider?”
Hearing this, Malcolm grit his teeth tightly.
“…..Certainly, I didn’t raise you in a good environment. However, to threaten me like this and revenge-”
“Revenge? This?”
Violet titled her head at Malcolm’s words.
“How did you even think you can get away with this much? It’s not a small price to compensate for these thirteen years”
“Wh……”
Violet opened her mouth at Malcolm who was thinking if she was still unsatisfied and paled.
“I won’t do anything for now. Revenge isn’t what this me should be doing” (*Meaning she’ll leave it to Sophia)
“……? Then who should? Are you saying you’ll leave it to me?”
“You really have a knack for joking. Why do you think you are in a position to decide anything?”
She narrowed her eyes at Malcolm who seemed to be trying to tell her that he was just a bystander, watching from the sidelines.
It’s been two weeks since we swapped bodies. Surely, both Isabella and Julia had sent letters to him. But he didn’t know the state of the mansion. He probably has no interest in the household that he even neglected to read letters. From his words, only ‘don’t bother me’, ‘don’t cause trouble for me’ can be sensed.
(He’s a worthless being)
When I switch back bodies, I’ll let the girl choose. Whether to let them go bankrupt or dispose of them as criminals. Or let all of them experience the same hunger and humiliation the girl went through.
To think of her current actions as revenge, she’s being underestimated a lot.
What Violet is doing to Isabella and Julia is merely retaliation to their disrespect to her on the first day.
“—Oh right, I’m going to make an official social debut in two months”
She smiles at the man who looks at her bitterly while whispering in her heart that he’s going to experience hell from now on.
“The place would be at this Count Alcott House. I’m going to invite Elford duke’s daughter too, so it’s going to have to be luxurious”
