Don't think that just because Song Chenxi behaves like an obedient girl in front of Zhao Nan, easily subdued in a matter of moments, she's not assertive at school or at home. Song Chenxi has always been domineering. Of course, a girl like her, who has the looks, the family background, and the academic achievements, doesn't need to worry about many of the issues that plague ordinary girls. This naturally gave Chen Xi much more confidence than other girls. So, when confronted with Zheng Miaoguo's nonsensical accusations, she dared to question him outright.

With a wounded expression, Zheng Miaoguo came yelling. What on earth did he mean by this? Did he think she played with his feelings? Or did he think that merely because he pursued her, she had to accept, and if she didn't, it counted as trampling on his feelings?

"Exactly! Chairman Zheng Miaoguo, as soon as you arrived, you cornered Chen Xi in the classroom. You didn't even clarify your words but started spreading slander. That's not okay!" Han Yunfei chimed in from the side, though her words had a schadenfreude ring to them.

After all, Chen Xi was no ordinary girl.

Behind that deceivingly intimidating face was the upbringing of a military family. Growing up immersed in the army environment, Chen Xi would have had a tough time turning into a delicate young lady even if she wanted to, let alone when the family dog would go mad if she were ever bullied.

"Humph, Song Chenxi, you know very well what you did. I can't be bothered to elaborate. I'm embarrassed for you," said Zheng Miaoguo, scoffing and turning to leave in annoyance.

Chen Xi and Han Yunfei exchanged glances, both seeing the words "this guy is nuts" in each other's eyes.

"Damn it! Zheng Miaoguo, stop right there," Chen Xi snapped, infuriated. Watching Zheng Miaoguo stand on his high horse lecturing her, then trying to leave with a hurt expression, made her furious. She hadn't done anything from start to finish, so why should she allow him to slander her like this?

"Humph, take a good look at yourself," Zheng Miaoguo stopped in his tracks, turned his head to glance at Song Chenxi, then continued to walk away, looking disappointed.

"Damn!" Chen Xi's fiery temper just couldn't be contained.

Of course, when Chen Xi felt like lashing out, Han Yunfei would generally not stop her. Zheng Miaoguo was truly too full of himself.

Bang—

Chen Xi tossed the book in her hand, sprinted with her long legs, and caught up to Zheng Miaoguo. Without saying a word, she kicked him square in the back. Unprepared, Zheng Miaoguo was sent sprawling to the floor.

"Song Chenxi, you... you're shameless," Zheng Miaoguo grimaced in pain as he turned to look at Chen Xi, disbelief written all over his face.

To be honest, Zheng Miaoguo had always been a top student at their school. His parents had given him one task since childhood: study hard and get into a prestigious university. He lived up to expectations with excellent academic performance. But this also made him a bookworm with poor physical stature and athleticism. His scrawny frame would've marked him as a sickly person, if not for his decently handsome features. Chen Xi, used to the tough men in the military, could hardly stand the sight of such a "boiled chicken." Still, she would've left him alone if he hadn't provoked her, but since he did, it was his fault she couldn't help but get physically confrontational.

"What's wrong with me?" Chen Xi asked, spreading her hands innocently and shrugging, then turning to Han Yunfei with a look of feigned innocence as if she hadn't done anything.

"You..." Zheng Miaoguo was livid, grinding his teeth, nearly driven mad by anger. Then, he picked himself up from the ground, his arm scratched and bleeding, and glared at Chen Xi. "Assaulting the chairman of the student council, do you believe I can get a major demerit against you, a punishment on your record?" he said, beginning to look a little smug.

"Heh." Song Chenxi scoffed coldly at Zheng Miaoguo, not taking his threats seriously at all. She joked, she wasn't foolish—sure, the student council president had power, but power wasn't to be abused. If he really dared to give her a major demerit, she dared to have her family's "dog clan" tear him apart.

"Let's go! Let's head to the cafeteria for lunch." Han Yunfei shrugged her shoulders at this, then leisurely strolled past Zheng Miaoguo, pulling Song Chenxi along with her.

Zheng Miaoguo was furious to the point of insanity, but faced with the overbearing Song Chenxi and Han Yunfei, he ultimately could only get the upper hand in words. He didn't have the ability to actually do something. He knew enough about the family background of Song Chenxi and Han Yunfei. That was also one of his reasons for pursuing Song Chenxi before—to pave the way for his future. After all, having power in this world is critical. However, he didn't expect that in the end, it would all fall apart. That's why he lost control of his temper and came to settle scores with Song Chenxi.

But he also forgot that from beginning to end, he had no right to speak to Song Chenxi like this.

...

After all, Qing University is a prestigious institution in Hua Country, and the school cafeteria's food quality is quite decent—tasty, fragrant, and able to cater to every palate. Song Chenxi and Han Yunfei finished lunch together. When they walked out of the cafeteria, they saw a female classmate from their same class quickly approaching them.

"Song Chenxi, someone's looking for you at the school entrance. Aren't you going to check it out?" The female classmate said with a smile, her eyes conveying a certain meaning, but seemingly with no malice, for her eyes were smiling too—with envy.

"Someone's looking for me?" Song Chenxi frowned, puzzled.

"Yes! A handsome guy!" The female classmate continued to smile, then winked mysteriously at Song Chenxi.

Song Chenxi felt all the more mystified—who could be looking for her? Could it be one of the brothers from her family?

"Why not go and see then!" Han Yunfei was full of curiosity, and nudged Xu Xiuxiu's tiny waist to remind her with her elbow.

"Right!" Song Chenxi nodded, coming back to reality.

The two sisters had just left the cafeteria and were making their way towards the school's gate. As they neared the main entrance, they saw a large crowd packed at the school gate, noisy and bustling. Perhaps someone had said something, because suddenly the lively crowd started to disperse.

"Sister-in-law, good day!" The thunderous, synchronized shout resounded like the striking of bells and drums.

Song Chenxi hadn't gotten close yet when she was stunned by this greeting of "sister-in-law, good day!" She stopped in her tracks, her gaze turned toward the group of neatly standing soldiers, each holding a bouquet of lilies. Then she burst into laughter, for she saw Zhao Nan's figure among the leading men.

There he was, clad in his crisp military uniform, blending in with a sea of green uniforms. He didn't stand out, he wasn't someone she knew well, they had only met a few days ago, yet she recognized him at first glance.
