Cross let out a heavy sigh. After a long time spend in Cruom City, he and the others finally return to their hometown.

’I wonder if there is any changes.’ despite thinking of it, Cross doubted the village can change quickly, not even with the dungeon and his son-in-law.

As he and the others about to get close, he senses the presence of others, somehow surrounding the village’s delegation team.

’Whoever they are, they managed to get close to us with me or Alfon noticing anything. They should be powerful,’ Cross thought grimly, preparing himself for a fight since he did not sense any familiar Mana.

"Oi!" Someone call them from the sky. Cross looked upward to see his son-in-law flying (?!), the teen looking down at him. No, not at him, but instead at those surrounding his group.

"Those are the villagers, and one of them is my father-in-law. If you touch him, I will skin your entire group alive." Cross could feel the newcomers quivering in fear, no doubt believing Ardent would carry on with his threat.

"Stop hiding and properly greet your future superior." those around them come out, and Cross feel himself trembling.

’3rd Circle Mages, and there are some 1st Rank Aura User!’ spending time in Cruom City allow him to meet with such powerful figures, helping him tell the power of those surrounding him.

"A-ardent?" he hated how his voice shake a little, but he don’t think he can be blamed since Ardent, his son-in-law, just threatened to kill them and probably torture them while he was doing that.

"Why are there many outsiders around the village?" Cross could not said his true question outloud, which was ’Why he threatened them and why they are afraid of his son-in-law?’. Besides, he was sure he will learn of it, either from Ardent himself, his family, or the chief.

"They are the second group that try to attack the village and I force them to submit or be annihilated."

Cross merely nodded before the sentence was comprehended by his currently slow brain, Read exclusive adventures at novelbuddy

"A second group to what?"

As they walked to the village, Ardent tell them the detail of what happened. Those that join the delegate team could feel the somber tone of Ardent when he told them the casualties suffered by the village during the first attack.

"I see. To think someone from Cruom City attacked us and kill some of our villagers." the number is 20 people or so, but to a small and tight community like Slurom Village, the death hurt, a lot.

"Yes. I’m planning something for him. But for now, let’s get you back to the village and see the changes around here." Ardent said, like he did not just spoke of the death of the villagers before.

Cross, Alfon and Etain, a 2nd Rank Aura User and the 2nd-in-command of the guards exchanged look.

’He is angry, or hurting for some time.’ all three of them thought at the same time. Which make sense. Even if he was not close to those who died, he had trained with them and befriended them. Especially the Mages. Plus, they never have any death before, at least from fighting bandits, so, it is the first time for Ardent and other young Mages and guards.

As much as the trio wanted to help the strongest Mage of the entire region (Ardent telling him his current power), they knew it will be better to show they can help and not force him to take their advice. Different people take to losses in different way, even if their losses is the same.

"Still father-in-law, I don’t expect you to be the next 3rd Circle Mages of the village, along with Elder Alfon. And that Vice-Captain Etain is also a 1st Rank Aura User." Ardent uttered, a little bit of shock in his voice.

"Oh, we get access to some resources as well as books about Magic. It help, a lot. As for Etain, he get to see the training of some of the Aura Users in the City." Cross answered. It is a boon. Now with two 3rd Circle Mages, they can protect the village even better.

"Yeah. It’s a good thing the village now have five 3rd Circle Mages." Ardent said in a smug tone. Cross was about to reply when he make sense of what Ardent just said.

"What do you mean, five?"

Ardent pointed to the village. Cross turned to see his two eldest sons and his only daughter looking at him. Only then, did he realize what Ardent meant by that.

"W-wha- how did all of you become 3rd Circle Mages?"

After getting over the shock of his children improvement, Cross decided a conversation is needed.

Ardent let the older men pulled his children, even the still 2nd Circle Cedric. While a part of him wants to spend time with his fiance, he already spent a lot of time with Catlin. Letting her father had a talk with him will not hurt.

Though, it did get him cornered by Alfon.

"So, you are now a powerful 5th Circle Mage, Ardent?" Ardent only nodded. The old man sighed.

"I never expected you to become so strong in such a short time. It’s probably because of the dungeon, isn’t it?" Alfon quickly found the reason, or so he believes. While it was true, it is only half the truth, as Ardent’s increased in strength had more to it, namely his ability to practice since he was nine.

"Yes. There is something I want to ask you about the dungeon, but let’s wait for now." Alfon looked at Ardent in worry. The younger teen turned away, not wanting to alarm the elder Mage, at least not before he and others take the needed rest.

"Still, the dungeon is truly a boon. To think it help us nurture many mages in a few months." Alfon exclaimed, able to sense other Mages. Sure, most of them are 1st Circle Mages, but since it’s founding, the most Mages Slurom Village had was about 15, when it was first founded.
