Chapter 116: Devouring The Grimoires

"A different group?" Albert tilted his head in confusion. He followed after Journey, but the latter doesn’t seem to have the intention to disclose any more information.

Miguel merely laughed as he went back inside the carriage along with Edith.

He was not interested in cleaning up the mess, so he allowed them to clean them up as he returned to the carriage with Edith.

Inside, Miguel used [Barrier of Concealment] as he summoned the jet-black grimoire in front of him.

He then retrieved the five Bronze Grade Grimoires as well as the single Silver Grade Grimoire that he had stored earlier.

He lined them up as he let his jet-black grimoire hover around them.

At this point, Miguel could feel its intense desire to consume the bronze-grade grimoires lined up in front of it.

This time, Miguel did not stop it any longer and allowed it to descend towards the bronze-grade grimoires.

The rainbow-colored Origin Energy glow intensified as it touched the first grimoire. That grimoire immediately dematerialized and began to disintegrate with a speed visible to the naked eye.

After a whole minute, the bronze-grade grimoire completely disappeared in front of them.

Edith marveled at the sight. She didn’t know what was going on yet, but the scene of the jet-black grimoire consuming the bronze-grade grimoire interested her to no end.

As it finished its consumption, Miguel and Edith saw the changes around its cover. The bronze-colored markings on its borders became more intense and more obvious.

Meanwhile, the jet-black grimoire did not stop there.

With Miguel’s permission, it hovered over to the next grimoire in line and devoured it the same way as the first.

In every minute that passed, a grimoire would disintegrate in front of Miguel and Edith.

After it was done with the fifth grimoire, it hovered in front of Miguel and Edith and rotated joyously, as though satisfied with its meal.

Miguel observed and noticed that the bronze markings and lines at the border of the cover had already almost reached the center of the cover. It was now even more visible, and one could see it even from afar.

The bronze lines intertwined and wriggled like vines as they extended towards the very center of the grimoire, as though they were trying to reach it.

Miguel still did not know the purpose and changes it brought to his grimoire, but he was certain that the jet-black grimoire was very elated about doing such a thing.

With the bronze line intertwining towards the center, it could be said that the grimoire’s appearance had now more or less changed. From the pure jet-black grimoire, it had now become a black grimoire with intense bronze lines intertwining towards the center, appearing very mysterious.

If one did not know better, they would surely think of this grimoire as just another Bronze Grade Grimoire due to these bronze lines. However, unlike its appearance, it was already actually a Silver Grade Grimoire.

As it hovered in mid-air, Miguel suddenly felt that it was requesting to consume the Silver Grade Grimoire as well.

As he doesn’t have any other use for it, Miguel allowed his grimoire to consume it, curious as to what changes it would bring as well.

Gaining his permission, the jet-black grimoire, now adorned with bronze lines akin to intertwining vines, immediately hovered and touched the Silver Grade Grimoire.

An intense rainbow glow came out of it as Miguel felt its desire to devour the Silver Grade Grimoire.

Like the previous ones, the Silver Grade Grimoire slowly disintegrated with a speed visible to the naked eye.

Unlike the previous ones, though, it took the jet-black grimoire a full two minutes before it could fully devour the Silver Grade Grimoire.

Once again, it hovered over in front of Miguel and Edith as the both of them observed the changes around its cover. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

Unlike before, silver lines began to emerge at the corner of the grimoire’s cover, much like what happened the first time the jet-black grimoire devoured a bronze-grade grimoire.

Faint silver lines began to appear as it stopped around an inch away from the edge of the grimoire’s cover, as though acting as a margin.

The bronze line was not affected, though. It was as if the two lines of different colors could coexist in harmony. The two varying lines overlapped with each other harmoniously.

And unlike before, Miguel finally caught a glimpse of the purpose behind the grimoire’s actions.

Grimoire creation!

It was actually trying to create new grimoires out of the ones it devoured and consumed.

At this point, Miguel still did not know what use it would have. What he did not know was that these would actually involve their advancement in the future.

At this moment, though, the jet-black grimoire was still unable to create another grimoire as the the grimoires it consumed were not enough yet.

Miguel speculated that by the time the bronze lines reached the middle and the cover became full of them, it would also signal the time for a new grimoire to be created.

What was the purpose of this created grimoire? Miguel still does not know for now.

When he shared it with Edith, though, she thought for a moment and recalled a certain rumor from her past life.

"According to the rumors I’ve heard, there are actually beasts that have their own grimoires. Could it be that it’s trying to create new grimoires for us?"

Regarding that, Miguel thought and realized that it was actually plausible.

Unfortunately, he lacked the necessary information and would not know the answers regarding it for now.

His Innate Skill did not help either. It seems that this was also a first case in the history of this world, as even the skill created by the World’s Will also doesn’t have an answer for it.

Anyway, as it could not create one grimoire for now to verify their guesses, Miguel decided to return it back to his inner world for now.

Edith also decided to take a proper rest inside the grimoire and said that she would come out tomorrow, first thing in the morning.

Although she could rest just fine in the real world, nothing still beats being inside the grimoire, as it would help the beast to have a proper rest.

When morning came, just like she promised, she returned with renewed vigor.

The moment Miguel opened his eyes, Edith was already right in front of him, staring at his handsome face with great interest.

Her face was red as she whispered, "Can we do it now?"

Hearing such a soft and alluring voice, how could Miguel be able to ignore her?
