I Can Contract Beauties-Chapter 132: Sold
When there was more demand than supply, the item’s price would increase to adapt to the market.
A single Gold Coin was equivalent to 1,000 Silver Coins.
The Condensed Water Ores was previously bought by Miguel for 100 Gold Coins for eleven pieces, or 9 Gold and 90 Silver Coins each.
Now, he sold it back to the same source for 30 Gold Coins each, allowing him to profit 230 Gold Coins in total, even though the demand and supply of this item did not change.
Miguel did not feel any guilt, as he accepted the deal without hesitation. Of course, he also knew that this was Lino’s way of getting close to him, hoping that he would buy or sell more to him in the future.
Just like how someone’s work can be bought with money, the same could be said about someone’s connections.
Even Miguel felt that this was such a good move that it earned his praise.
Because of that, he decided to sell him four scales of the Volcanic Wyrm. This was also because he wanted some funds at the moment, as he wanted to buy some things for Aaliyah and Edith.
Miguel took the 330 Gold Coins while Lino kept the 11 pieces of Condensed Water Ores to himself.
"Thank you for the transaction, my lord. Please remember that if you want to sell something in the future, you can just come here any time and let me be of service to you," Lino stated with a triumphant smile.
"Oh, in that case, I indeed have another item here that you might be interested in buying," Miguel stated with a chuckle.
Hearing that, Lino was obviously elated, thinking that Journey had been manipulated by him to sell more due to his generous offer of buying the Condensed Water Ores.
What he did not know was that Miguel purposely did this, knowing his intentions from the start.
The next second, Miguel summoned two black scales the size of his head. They were stacked with each other as they emitted a powerful aura that even Vena and Lino could feel.
"W-what’s that, my lord?" Lino said with a trembling voice.
He was confused, but at the same time, he was elated that such a rare item was now being offered for him to buy. His mind had already imagined earning a lot of Gold Coins in return after he sold this item to his connections throughout the city.
"Oh, they’re Volcanic Wyrm’s scales. It’s in good condition and well preserved. Right, in case you didn’t know, a Volcanic Wyrm is a Silver Grade Beast," Miguel explained.
Hearing that, Vena and Lino looked at each other.
Obviously, the two of them were familiar with this terror beast living near Ghost Wail Mountain.
The Silver Grade Volcanic Wyrm was, after all, a beast notorious for its personality of being extremely territorial. All mercenaries in this line of work were aware of its existence; that was part of the reason why that particular road was considered a forbidden area.
Now, they did not know if this was the same beast, but they knew these scales were very valuable.
If crafted into armor, it would surely result in a High Silver Grade Armor.
One must note that a Silver Grade Beast was already an invincible existence in Red Cliff City. Perhaps only the City Lord and his guards have the capacity to hunt one if they have enough preparation.
"My lord, where did you get such rare material?" Lino could not help but ask.
"I just found them on the way here. What do you think? How much would these scales of the Volcanic Wyrm be worth?"Miguel stated, not wanting to divulge too much information.
"This..." Hearing that, Lino could not help but release a wry smile on his old and wrinkled face.
This was because he just realized that he could not afford even one of them with his current wealth.
At the next moment, he suddenly recalled something as he looked at Vena, who had been silent since earlier.
"Wait for a moment, my lord," he stated.
He then approached Vena with a covetous smile as he said, "Oh, my dearest and prettiest granddaughter, Vena. How have you been inside the City Lord’s manor all this while?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Upon hearing that, Vena could only roll her eyes at him as she said, "I know you just want something again. Just say it directly, grandpa!"
From her words, it was obvious that this was not the first time that this had happened.
At this point, Lino has already grasped Vena’s hand and rubbed it affectionately.
"Eherm," he cleared his throat and continued, "My dear Vena, how much money do you have now? Can you let your handsome grandfather borrow some? I promise that I’ll pay you back as soon as possible."
Vena rolled her eyes at his words.
"The last time you said that, you only paid me back after two years, and it was even because I constantly nag you about it."
"And unfortunately, I don’t have that much money now either to afford even a single one of this scale," she continued with a hint of sorrow in her voice.
As a martial artist, of course, she also wanted to obtain these scales and craft them into armor that could save her life during a battle.
In this world full of ferocious beasts, one’s own safety was more important.
This was also why armor, defensive treasures, and healers were much more valued compared to front-line fighters.
But just as she said, she knew that she would not be able to afford these scales even if she saved for five years.
Hearing that, Lino was obviously disheartened. He knew Vena since she was young, so he was absolutely sure that she did not lie.
If she says that she’s broke, then she’s broke, no matter how many times you ask her.
"Forgive me this time, my lord, but it seems that I won’t be able to buy all of them for now."
"But if you give me enough time—just two hours at most—I’ll surely find the necessary funds to buy all of them. What do you think of this, my lord?" He said embarrassingly.
Miguel thought for a moment and said, "Just give me everything you have for now, and I’ll entrust all of these to you. I’ll just return later, or let Vena here collect the remaining fee."
"Really? Thank you very much, my lord!"Lino exclaimed enthusiastically upon hearing Journey’s words.
Vena was also surprised by this sudden turn of events. She did not expect Mr. Journey to be this kind toward others at all.
Miguel merely chuckled upon hearing his grateful words. "Haha, don’t worry about it."
He truly needs funds at this moment due to the things he wants to buy for Aaliyah and Edith.
Miguel handed the five Volcanic Wyrm scales to Lino, who received them with trembling hands. He was very careful with it, as he placed them slowly and carefully inside a large box before placing them above the table.
He then went to the back and took out two bags full of Gold Coins and handed them to Miguel.
"There is a total of 3200 Gold Coins inside there, my lord. Please count them carefully. I’ll pay the rest later, I promise," Lino said with an apologetic yet grateful look on his face.
"Don’t worry too much about it. Remember, two hours later," Miguel said as he beckoned for Vena to follow him outside to leave the shop.
His business for being here was already done. He had already let Lino have a taste of his own medicine and even earned a lot of Gold Coins from him, with some extra that he needed to collect later.
These Gold Coins should be enough for what he wants to buy next.
For now, though, Miguel felt that they should eat first, as his stomach was already growling from hunger.
Vena nodded her head and recommended a famous restaurant in Red Cliff City.
She called for a carriage and told the driver their destination.
Inside the carriage, she could not help but ask why ’Journey’ was not worried about entrusting that valuable thing to her grandpa.
Regarding that, Miguel just chuckled and told her directly that her grandfather would not dare run away from him.
This was because he had already seen through his weakness. And that was Vena in front of him at this moment.
Of course, he did not mention this to Vena and kept it to himself.
After five minutes of riding the carriage, they finally arrive at a place called Premium Feast House.
The plaque at the entrance looked grand and premium, as the name implies. It was a silver-colored building with a mix of red, matching its surroundings.
Vena began to introduce the restaurant to Miguel and the reasons why it was famous all throughout the city. In fact, it was already full of people, even though it was still early in the morning.
The three of them went inside a moment later. Upon sitting on a well-made chair, a waiter immediately approached them and handed them the menu for their order.
Miguel took a quick glance at it and looked at their price. After seeing that he could afford it, he decided to buy all the dishes that could be served this morning.
