I Can Contract Beauties-Chapter 140: Someone She Could Rely
The Spatial Meteorite in Miguel’s hand was only slightly bigger than his fist.
The space inside could only be determined after it was refined, but it should not be a problem for it to lock an area of thirty meters with his current strength if he was successful in making the Space Confinement Stone.
Edith did not hide her amazement upon knowing that such a powerful item actually exists. In her heart, Miguel was pretty powerful and mysterious. When Miguel asked her before, she said that an unknown power had called her to become his summon.
She was not aware that the System existed and only knew that it was Miguel’s doing. Miguel did not reveal the identity of the System as well as his previous identity to her for the time being, as he was afraid that it might cause some trouble in the future.
Anyway, Miguel listed all the materials he needed to create the Space Confinement Stone with the materials he knew from his previous life. He planned on searching for their equivalent or counterpart in this world in Alderic’s library.
As the most basic Space Confinement Stone’s materials and ingredients were not that rare aside from the Spatial Meteorite itself, Miguel reckoned that it should be easy to identify their counterparts even in a backward city like Red Cliff City.
Miguel stored the Spatial Meteorite carefully in the box and put it under the bed. Since he could not store it inside the grimoire storage space, he could only hide it this way.
Obtaining the Spatial Meteorite actually meant a lot to him.
With the existence of this item that he was familiar with from his previous life, it indirectly confirmed that he was indeed in the same universe as he was previously. The only thing that needs to be confirmed now is how much time has passed since his passing and if the Harem Emperor and his harem are still there or not.
He hoped that they’d still be alive by the time of his return.
After stowing it away, he motioned for Edith to open the door, revealing Erika, who just happened to arrive a second ago.
Erika was surprised that the door opened the moment she arrived, but she still decided to come in the moment she saw Miguel beckoning for her to come over.
She sat opposite him and began to recount what happened to her the entire day.
She still did not forget the reason why they decided to stay in Red Cliff City. It was to investigate the other parties involved in their kidnapping and the members of the bandit group hiding in Red Cliff City.
As per Miguel’s order, she only investigated the bandit group and not other things, such as the involvement of the messenger.
This way, they could make the real enemy think that they did not know a thing and that their eyes were just focused on the bandits. This was a misdirection tactic Miguel employed to let the guard of the real culprit down.
"After investigating, according to the information you provided, I realized that all the people that Randy had contacted in this city seemed to have disappeared all of a sudden. I asked around vigorously, trying to appear as desperate as possible on the matters regarding the bandits," she said.
"Well done. Continue with your actions for now, but don’t dig too deep. Tell Gasper to do the same. Only you and I know the real culprit, but Gasper should have made some guesses by now. No need to tell him else he spoils our plans."
Erika nodded her head. "Speaking of Gasper, I asked him about the origin of that necklace. He said that he only found it when he was little, after he tripped over it while running."
Hearing that, Miguel nodded his head in understanding. It seems that Gasper was actually a person born with luck as well, just like that kid in Forge’s Haven.
"Let’s stay here for a few more days if it doesn’t affect your mission. I want to read the entire library before moving away, if possible. Also, we can also take this opportunity to lay low for a while," Miguel said.
"The main branch already knew what happened, so they should not blame me for delaying this. In truth, they still had not sent an expert to save or fetch, so I was wondering if I was truly as important as what they claimed to be," she stated with a low voice. Her gaze dropped down, obviously dejected.
"Don’t think too much about it. As I said, in this world, the only one you can truly rely on is yourself and nothing else."
Erika nodded her head, but she did not completely agree with his words. After all, doesn’t she have him as someone she could completely rely on?
"After a day of being here, a lot of people surely know the strength I displayed previously, so all their focus should be on me now. You can do whatever you want for the next few days, but remember to act with caution, alright? "
"Yes," she said, nodding her head gently. Her heart softened as she heard his caring voice.
"Right, I also told my father what happened and our situation. Of course, I did not mention you and just said that you escaped first. As for your mother, I told my father not to inform her first as per your instruction."
Miguel was worried that Sara might not be able to take it if he learned that he disappeared, so he told Erika to inform Marcel of what happened, except for him using a new identity, of course.
After they talked, Erika bid farewell to the two of them. Like the last time, she paused and hesitated for a few moments in front of the door before leaving.
Edith merely smiled at her antics as she hugged Miguel from the back. She helped him take off his skull mask.
Miguel thanked her for it, as he actually felt tired from sitting all day long in the library. He still had a mortal body after all, and it was not strange that he would feel tired after a long, tiring day.
A thought suddenly entered his mind as he asked, "Do you know how to perform a body massage?"
