I Can Contract Beauties-Chapter 146: Underestimated
"Haha! It’s your fault for underestimating us!"
The Tiger Soul Bandit’s boisterous laugh soon echoed in the surroundings.
At the center of their formation were three men, each with a Bronze Grade Summoning Grimoire floating in front of them.
One of them was pressing his palm on the first page of his grimoire. Bits of sweat rolled down his neck as he could tell that the Gold Grade Beast was resisting the binding spell he cast from his Innate Skill.
It was precisely because of his Innate Skill that they had the confidence to ambush and avenge their brother Kram, even if the enemy had a Gold Grade Beast in their midst.
"Hurry!" He shouted to the two other grimoire users beside him, feeling that the Innate Skill he cast was beginning to lose its effectiveness.
His Innate Skill allowed him to stop any creature’s movements, regardless of their grade. The downside of this was that the higher the difference in grade between him and the target, the lower the efficacy of the skill as well. Another thing was that he could not summon any of his contracted beasts in this particular instance, as he must put all of his focus on maintaining the Innate Skill.
This Innate Skill made him the leader of the Tiger Soul Bandits. They were also recognized by the Tiger King Bandits due to his presence and because they were brothers of Kram, the leader of the operation to get the treasure map of the Red Family expert.
The two grimoire users did not lose focus upon hearing his shout. One after the other, two blinding lights soon appeared as their two respective beasts appeared in front of them.
One was a red-black-colored bee larger than a dog that looked very intimidating, while the other was a greenish butterfly with a wingspan of at least a meter.
The grimoire user did not dawdle any longer as they ordered their respective summons to attack the frozen Edith.
The butterfly shot brilliant green-colored specks of dust towards Edith while the bee let out a shriek in mid-air as it attacked with its stinger that had grown quite long as it traveled towards Edith’s chest.
A victorious smile was on the Tiger Soul Bandits faces as they thought that victory was in sight.
The butterfly let out a hallucinating dust that could weaken the enemy’s defense, while the bee attacked with a highly poisonous stinger. The moment it stung the defenseless Edith, even if she was a Gold Grade Beast, it would still not end well for her.
The Tiger Soul Bandits made enough preparation. They even considered that the Gold Grade Beast would underestimate them; hence, they would then be able to cast the binding Innate Skill.
On the other hand, worry and unease began to surface on each other’s faces as they thought that Edith was finished. She could not move even a single muscle, and the two attacks were gradually approaching her.
Erika no longer cared for anything as she summoned her Innate Beast to help Edith. No matter what, Edith was Miguel’s summons, and Erika had actually grown a little closer through their bits of interaction during these past few days. She did not want to see her get hurt.
However, her movements paused at the next moment.
Swoosh! Swoosh!
Two bursts of fire balls suddenly traveled at extreme speed and met the two attacking beasts in mid-air.
The two fires were too swift and sudden. The two beasts, and even the people around them, did not realize where the two flaming balls came from at all.
The two Bronze Grade Beasts were thrown away like cannonballs a few meters away. They dropped to the ground and transformed into particles of light that announced their deaths.
At the same time, the two grimoire summoners beside the Tiger Soul Bandit leader dropped to the ground while clutching their heads. It was apparent that the death of their summons affected them very much.
The next moment, a nonchalant chuckle suddenly entered everyone’s ears.
"You guys truly underestimated me, didn’t you?"
Everyone turned to look and trace the origin of the voice.
To everyone’s surprise, it was actually Journey. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Without anyone noticing, a rainbow-hued grimoire had already appeared in front of him.
Not only that, beside him also floated a woman in a gorgeous red dress. She was wearing a mask as she emitted a dangerous yet elegant aura around her.
Bits of flame floated around her, adding to the charm that made her look even more stunning and intimidating.
Feeling the aura around her, the Tiger Soul Bandits’ expression immediately turned sour.
"How is that possible!? Another Gold Grade Beast?"
Contracting one Gold Grade Beast was already hard enough; how much more if there were two of them?
One must note that even when a Grimoire reached Gold Grade and even if the Summoner reached the Master or Grandmaster Rank, there was still no guarantee for them to contract a Gold Grade Beast.
Most Gold Grade Beasts were arrogant in nature. They have higher intelligence and usually look down on other creatures as well, especially humans.
According to the information they knew, summoners who had a Gold Grade Beast in their arsenal usually nurtured them from the start. And nurturing a single beast to Gold Grade requires a large amount of resources.
Seeing two of them at the same time being summoned by a single person made their whole understanding crumble like domino blocks.
On the other hand, Miguel no longer wasted any words, as he ordered Aaliyah to kill them.
[Fireball] and [Fire Arrow] of varying sizes descended precisely to each and every member of the Tiger Soul Bandits. There was no pity in her eyes as she burned the bandits ruthlessly.
Edith, who soon broke out of the restricting skill, returned to Miguel’s side as though nothing had happened.
A charred smell wafted out of the air as the area ahead of them became a dark land.
Everyone covered their noses from the nauseating smell. In their minds, though, they looked at ’Journey’ admirably as they asked themselves just how strong ’Journey’ was.
How many secrets was he hiding? And was this really his strength, or was he still hiding a lot?
Nevertheless, his figure grew more and more intimidating and mysterious in their eyes.
Erika and Gasper particularly had a look of disbelief on their faces as they gazed at the back of the man they knew as Miguel.
But was this still truly the Miguel they knew?
