Chapter 147: A Little More

The question lingered in everyone’s mind as the culprit, Miguel and his two summons walked back to the carriage leisurely.

Inside, Miguel summoned his grimoire and allowed it to devour the four grimoires they collected from the dead summoners.

Three of them came from the leader and the other two by his side, while the last one surprisingly came from one who hid at the back.

That person might actually have hidden the fact that he has a grimoire and planned to accumulate strength out of everyone’s view. Unfortunately for him, he died from the all-out attack by Aaliyah.

All of them were Bronze Grades and Miguel’s jet-black grimoire devoured all of them without any problem.

At the same moment it devoured all of them, Miguel noticed that the bronze vine-like lines had already started to reach the center-most part of the grimoire’s cover. Miguel estimated that he only needed one more bronze-grade grimoire to make the bronze lines fully reach the center.

The moment that happened, Miguel knew that it would be the time for him to finally know the reason why it wanted to create another grimoire out of the ones it devoured.

On the other hand, Aaliyah stared at the grimoire’s activity with great curiosity.

She was a grimoire summoner from her previous life as well, and she had studied a lot of grimoire-related knowledge in her previous life. Yet she had still never heard of a grimoire being able to devour other grimoires. Heck, she didn’t even know that grimoires could stay in the real world even if their owners had already died.

Edith also shared her opinion about creating another kind of grimoire for them to use later.

However, Aaliyah debunked her statement that even if it was creating another grimoire, they should not be able to contract it.

As per the rule of this world, Grimoires could only be awakened at the age of 18. Anything past that, and one would already be considered someone not fated to awaken a grimoire.

"Well, we still don’t know the real purpose of this yet. But Edith’s guess should not be far from the truth. Perhaps there are other hidden conditions for you guys to get a grimoire in the future?" Miguel explained.

Aaliyah and Edith nodded their heads, thinking that it should be possible as well. At the mention of that, excitement was apparent in their eyes, especially for Edith who was not fated to awaken a grimoire in her previous life.

Like the others, no matter how strong she had been as a warrior, the envy towards Grimoire Summoners was still hidden deep in her bones. Now that she actually has a chance to have her own grimoire in the future, she cannot help but look forward to it.

Both of them were so excited that they even proposed to Miguel to hunt another bronze-grade grimoire user right now just so they could let his grimoire devour it and finally create a grimoire for them.

Hearing that, Miguel just laughed it off and told them not to rush things and just let nature take its course.

Miguel then looked at the logs and realized that they only earned a meager amount of experience points from the battle earlier. It was because they were only Bronze Grade beasts, and at Level 4, the level difference only allowed them to earn a small amount.

Nevertheless, it was still experience points, so Miguel did not complain about them, as even small things could accumulate into bigger things in the future.

With that being said, Miguel also noted that it would probably take a long time for Edith and Aaliyah to improve their strength if they only relied on this kind of system.

The best thing to do was still to find them natural treasures that could benefit them greatly.

Another method was to dual-cultivate, but that was a thing that only Edith could access for now.

The matter regarding the Tiger Soul Bandits did not affect them that much. Instead, it only acted as a stepping stone for Miguel to announce that he was stronger than they initially expected.

With this, there can only be two directions on what kind of treatment he would receive. They would either fear or respect him, or both.

Anything worked for Miguel, as even he himself did not know how strong his current party was. What he knew, though, was that they still had not reached the peak strength in the Meven Empire, and they should still act in caution from time to time.

The enemy of Aaliyah in her previous life alone was already something they could not face for the time being. After that many years of being alive, that person should already be very strong by now.

Anyway, the Tiger Soul Bandit was just a small event that they did not have to focus on. Miguel only knew that they were there for vengeance and nothing else, so Miguel did not bother interrogating them either.

After Vena and the guards settled the corpses of the bandits, and after they took some evidence that they had already been killed, they went forward and continued their journey once more.

Bandits, who were very famous, also had a bounty on their heads. The guards would not pass up an opportunity to earn money just like that. They asked Journey’s approval and took some items for proof and items for confirmation to claim the bounty later.

Blazing City was three days away from Red Cliff City if the journey was not delayed.

But since they encountered a few things and stopped along the way a few times, the convoy only managed to arrive at the outskirts of Blazing City four days later.

Blazing City was the capital of Blazing Expanse. It was located in Flare Province, located in the northern part of Blazing Expanse.

Along the way, the convoy had already encountered and passed by some mercenaries going to and from the city.

They have varying strengths; some were strong while others were weak. The thing that was common about them was their high-spirited nature of wanting to explore and earn money.

There were also other convoys of carriages that they saw along the way; some were even embroidered with the Red Family’s crest or symbol. None of the passing mercenaries or people dared to provoke these kinds of carriages. After all, Blazing City was where the main headquarters of the Red Family were located.

They were pretty famous in Blazing City and most of their strength was concentrated here as well.

As they got closer, Miguel also felt the abundance of energy around the area. The Grimoire Summoning Energy here was at least four times denser compared to the one at Peach Village.

"We’re near, my lord."

Inside the carriage, Miguel opened his eyes as he heard Vena’s voice.

He had just come out of cultivation, and he had managed to condense 11 more Origin Energy drops during the past few days that they had been traveling.

Coupled with the ones he managed to refine while dual-cultivating with Edith, minus the ones he used for his skills, Miguel now has a total of 104 Origin Energy drops floating above the Inner World at this moment.

Sensing that, Miguel felt that he could now make another breakthrough if he wanted to. Miguel planned to do that after settling in Blazing City later.

At this moment, his gaze hovered in front as he observed the humongous and magnificent city walls of Blazing City.

Compared to Red Cliff City, it was more refined and looked sturdier. Miguel also guessed that it was made out of another set of materials, making it more durable.

The convoy arrived at the city gate a few minutes later.

A guard came towards them and asked them about their purpose in Blazing City. It was a very standard question that Erika and the others answered without fail.

After they got past the gate, the convoy traveled once more and arrived at a humongous villa situated on the eastern side of Blazing City.

This villa was even bigger than Red Cliff’s City Lord’s Manor. Surrounding this humongous villa were houses made of good material that exuded elegance.

One look and one would be able to tell that they were the main ’master’ of Blazing City.

This was the Red Family’s estate, their main and biggest headquarters in Blazing Expanse.

It was also gated and quite guarded. People came to and fro as the convoy of carriages finally arrived at the gate of the Red Family’s estate.

A guard wearing armor engraved with the symbol of the Red Family stopped them in their tracks.

Like usual, Erika went forward and stated her identity.

The guard nodded his head, and after checking that all the details she provided were correct, they were finally allowed to enter.

The moment they did, a boisterous laugh soon resounded in everyone’s ears.

"Haha, what took you so long to bring such heavy baggage over, Erika?"
