I Can Extract Game Items-Chapter 181: Perfect Veil
August stepped up and lifted the same weight with ease before quietly setting it down.
They decided to up the weight to 585...
Then 635...
Tyrell managed it, though his face turned bright red.
’Let’s test the full extent of my current strength... Hopefully, this dude will be able to keep up,’ August said internally as he moved to lift the same set of weights.
He lifted them effortlessly.
Tyrell’s frustration grew. They hit 675. Tyrell barely managed the lift and wobbled as he set it down.
August approached with a calm look.
’Perhaps this will be my limit.’
He gripped the bar, breathed in, and pulled—smooth as silk.
The crowd roared.
’Oh that was easy too hmm,’ August thought internally with a slightly confused expression.
Kane shouted, "Add more!"
They reached 725 pounds. Tyrell attempted it and failed miserably, collapsing to his knees.
August approached with his hands chalked. The gym fell silent in anticipation as they kept their eyes locked in his direction.
With one swift motion, he lifted the 725-pound barbell like it was nothing and held it for a full five seconds before setting it down gently.
The crowd erupted in cheers while Tyrell slunk away, humiliated.
Kane patted August on the back while laughing. "Bro, you’re not human."
Even Jaxon and Leo looked starstruck.
A few women approached, offering flirty smiles.
"Hey, August..."
August just grabbed his water bottle, grinning. "Guess I’ll be here more often."
---
Back home, August summoned the game system interface and watched as his status panel appeared like a hologram before his eyes.
Most of his game stats were grayed out, as usual. Except now… one more wasn’t.
[ Skill Available: Perfect Veil (Tier 2) ]
August blinked in disbelief. The Perfect Veil—his upgraded stealth ability. It was no longer greyed out.
"No way... The last time this happened was at level 30... Does this mean that every time I cross ten levels, a new ability or skill will be available for me to use in reality?" August felt this was the only plausible explanation at this moment.
However, he’d have to wait for another ten levels to properly confirm it.
He activated Perfect Veil instinctively.
[ Perfect Veil Has Been Activated ]
A dark shimmer washed over him, distorting the air like heat waves. Then—nothing. He looked down. His hands were gone.
"I’m invisible... And this time, in real life..."
He moved silently across the room, soundlessly even on creaky floorboards. The Perfect Veil wasn’t just cosmetic—it was flawless. He reappeared with a thought, grinning like a kid who’d just found a hidden treasure.
"This… is great... now I can get into anywhere without being noticed."
But something at the back of his mind whispered—reminding him of the rifts, time anomalies, and the darkness he’d accidentally unleashed.
It felt like there was more to the game than what they knew about... Who really were the creators and why are they still unknown till now?
August couldn’t put his thumb behind it but he felt that uncovering the dynamics of Enders Light would definitely shock the whole world.
A faint buzz vibrated against his thigh, pulling him out of his thoughts. He reached for his phone lazily, expecting a notification about AM Coven or maybe Sophia sending a meme.
But it wasn’t Sophia.
[I hope you didn’t forget about our date today.] – Remi
August blinked.
’Date?’ His mind scrambled through the dusty corners of his memory, and then it hit him—Remi.
Remi somehow roped him into agreeing to a date after weeks of playful banter, half-hearted flirting on his part, her helping them get an apartment and so a bunch of other things.
"Oh… crap," August muttered while sitting up straight.
He glanced at the time—4:35 PM. ’What time was it again? Seven? Eight?’ He couldn’t even remember.
Dropping his phone on the couch, he immediately dialed Derrick.
The phone rang twice before Derrick picked up.
"Yo, boss. What’s up? Finally decided to check in on us mortals?"
August rubbed his forehead while pacing the length of his apartment. "Not now Derrick. Cut the crap. How’s AM Coven doing? Everything cool?"
Derrick’s chuckle echoed. "Oh, you mean the empire you left me to rule while you went to la-la-land in that game pod of yours?"
August rolled his eyes. "Derrick, focus."
"Alright, alright. Chill." Derrick’s tone shifted slightly to business mode. "Things have been smooth, surprisingly. We had a major influx of customers the last couple of days. Guess saving a politician’s daughter and going viral helps business."
August smirked slightly. "Go figure."
"We’ve sold a few high-tier items. The guards are doing great—super intimidating, by the way. You should’ve seen the looks on people’s faces when Terry flexed those robotic arms. Classic."
August chuckled lightly. "Good to hear."
"Oh, and uh… there was a minor incident."
That snapped August’s attention back like a whip. "What incident?"
"Well," Derrick began by dragging the word out like he was trying to figure out how to soften the blow, "some idiot tried to steal an item."
August froze mid-step. "What?"
"Relax, August. It’s under control. The guy didn’t even make it five feet from the display before Terry took him down. Quick reflexes. The guy’s still recovering from the—uh—’gentle’ takedown."
August sighed while scrubbing a hand over his face. "And you’re just telling me this now?"
Derrick snorted. "Because it’s handled. You shouldn’t have to worry when you leave things to me. That’s why you made me your right hand, no? But we’re good. No damages. No missing items. Just one very bruised thief and an increase in customer respect for our security."
August shook his head but felt relieved. "Alright. Good job handling it."
There was a brief pause before Derrick’s voice came back. "So… what’s up? You sound tense. More than usual."
August groaned. "I’ve got a date."
~ Dead silence on the other end. ~
Then Derrick burst into laughter. "You? A date? Since when do you—wait, is this with Remi? The cyber girl you told me about?"
August rolled his eyes so hard he thought they might fall out. "Yes. Remi."
"Oh, this is rich." Derrick’s laughter didn’t subside. "I thought you were immune to romance. What happened? Did she hack your brain?"
"She forced me into it."
"Sure she did."
August pinched the bridge of his nose. "I’m hanging up."
"Wait, wait!" Derrick’s voice turned mock-serious. "Just remember, don’t do the whole awkward, ’I-don’t-know-how-to-date’ routine. And for god’s sake, don’t talk about your game character like he’s a real person."

August smirked despite himself. "Noted. Goodbye."
"Enjoy your date, lover boy—"
August ended the call.
He had forgotten that Derrick could be such a tease and didn’t always sound so serious all the time. Explore hidden tales at novelbuddy
He tossed his phone onto the couch and marched straight into his bedroom.
Standing before the mirror, he assessed himself critically. His usual black hoodie and jeans screamed ’guy who lives off instant noodles,’ which wasn’t the look he was aiming for today.
Usually, he only mostly dressed in business attire when he had to become Aleman and he wanted Aleman to give off a different vibe from August. It was necessary so people would never be able to put two and two together.
’Okay, Reacher. You’ve bedded numerous women ranging from secretaries to models to celebrities to MILFs. A date is nothing. You haven’t lost your charms.’
He pulled out a dark, fitted button-down shirt and paired it with slim black jeans.
Simple, no effort—yet somehow effortlessly cool. He even ran a comb through his messy hair, though it stubbornly fell back into place like always.
After a final glance in the mirror, he sighed. "Alright, Casanova. Let’s do this."
---
The city lights glinted off towering skyscrapers as August pulled up near AM Coven, deciding to check in briefly before heading to his date.
The guards at the entrance nodded at him, standing tall in their high-tech gear, looking as formidable as ever.
They had no idea August was the boss, they just greeted him as usual.
Inside, the place was completely filled. Derrick was at the front, chatting with a couple of customers. He spotted August and immediately a smug grin appeared on his face.
"Well, well, look who’s here. Shouldn’t you be rehearsing pickup lines?"
August flipped him the finger discreetly and did a quick walk-through of the shop. Everything seemed in order—items displayed neatly, customers browsing, and the guards stationed strategically.
With a satisfied look, he gave Derrick a thumbs-up. "Looks good. I’m heading out."
Derrick couldn’t resist. "Don’t forget—eye contact, light jokes, and for god’s sake, no talking about your XP gains."
August shook his head while laughing as he walked out.

Derrick leaned casually against the counter, scrolling through the latest sales report on a tablet after August left.
Greg approached with a curious look plastered across his rugged face. His buzz-cut hair and sharp jawline gave him an intimidating presence, but his curiosity softened that exterior.
"Hey, Derrick," Greg crossed his arms. "Why was he here?"
Derrick didn’t even glance up. "He who?"
"August," Greg pressed while nodding toward the exit. "You know, the guy we used to bust our asses with back at the factory? Kinda odd seeing him stroll in here like he owns the place."
