I Can Tame Everything!-Chapter 33: A wild human?
Chapter 33 - A wild human?
Unbeknownst to them, moments after their departure, a cloaked figure descended into the chamber. His glowing eyes scanned the carnage—blood and bodies littered the floor.
"Who...?" he murmured, voice low and grim.
"Hopefully we get a good deal at the auction hall," Rex said, walking down the streets. After exiting the building, he pulled out the mana resonance card Lady Seraphine had given him.
Navigating using the card, they arrived at the auction hall. With no gates blocking their path, they stepped in and walked toward the same receptionist, recalling how she had kicked them out the last time.
But Rex wasn't the type to hold petty grudges against the weak... unless, of course, it benefited him in some way.
Yes, weak. The same receptionist who had scared them away a few days ago was now weaker than Rex—both in power and strength.
"Welcome—" her tone shifted as she got a full view of them. "Please tell me you're not here for the same job?" she scoffed, rolling her eyes in annoyance.
Without being provoked, Darius suppressed a giggle.
Rex replied with a playful smirk. "Yes, we are here for the appraiser job," he said, holding back certain information just to see her reaction.
"That's it!" she banged the table and stood up furiously.
As she stood, Rex quickly pulled out the mana resonance card and flashed it in her face, the playful smirk turning into a knowing one.
The moment her enraged gaze landed on the pulsing card, her eyes narrowed. gaze softening as she spoke in a respectful tone.
"Ahem, my apologies. You must be the esteemed appraiser Madam Seraphine informed me about," she said gently, though her eyes screamed confusion mixed with embarrassment.
Nonetheless, she quickly straightened up professionally, and with a wry smile, "This way... esteemed appraiser. Please follow me." She politely gestured for them to come along.
Darius repeated the words "Let's go...esteemed appraiser, " at Rex with mock reverence. Rex tried not to laugh.
Though, it wasn't her fault—most average appraisers were above the age of 35, and the one she was expecting, someone who claimed 100% accuracy, could only be someone very old... certainly not a 10-year-old kid.
After climbing to the first floor, they finally stopped before a door.
"Madam Seraphine, the...Young appraiser is here to see you!" she called out as she knocked.
A calm voice replied from behind the door, "Come in."
She nodded approvingly and left. Rex pushed open the door and stepped into the room, Darius following behind.
"I'm glad you came, Rex. Please, take a seat," she gestured. "And you too...?"
"Darius," Darius replied and grabbed a seat.
"Now Rex, since you're here, I assume you agree to be the Goldhammer Foundry's exclusive appraiser?" she asked in a firm tone.
"Yes. Last time, you offered 300 gold. Can you make it... one thousand gold coins a month, along with lodging, necessities, and..." Rex straightened up, "that storage pouch," he added with a small smile.
She looked at him with a deadpan expression and replied, "Straight to the point, I see." and smiled.
"Well, I can accept the first condition. However, giving you a storage pouch is out of my hands because... even I don't own one."
"Huh? I thought you could easily own them?" Rex asked, narrowing his eyes skeptically.
"It's not what you think." She shook her head after noticing his doubtful expression.
"The storage pouch is a service our Goldhammer Foundry offers.
They're meant for people who want to hunt but can't carry large beasts over long distances.
The pouch helps them carry many beasts at once without much effort. And the main reason being, they are hard to come by—we currently have only three of them."
She paused to let the information sink in before continuing.
"If hunters sell beasts without using the pouch, we take a 5% commission. But if they use the pouch, they have to pay 25% for each beast they put in.
Even though 25% may sound like a lot, hunters usually carry many beasts at once and earn good money from a single hunt," she explained.
She paused again, her tone shifting as she leaned in and whispered, "And even though I don't own the storage pouch, I still decide who gets to use it—and I'll let you have one temporarily."
Rex's brow furrowed in thought. "So I don't own the pouch, but I can still use it?"
"Precisely. Because that's how important you are to our auction hall," she said, leaning back with a smile.

"But I can only give it to you after you appraise a special beast for us. It will be presented in tomorrow's auction—it's an important day."
"So, are you ready for it?" she asked and calmly stood up, as if already knowing Rex would agree to help in her predicament.
"Of course. Please lead the way," Rex said with a soft smile as he pushed his chair back and stood. "Let's go, Darius." Darius nodded and followed along.
They walked upstairs to the second floor. After passing through a door guarded by two guards, they entered a passageway. Magical crystals lit up the dim surroundings. The air felt heavy. Sensing this, Seraphine began speaking to lighten the mood.
"We've had important guests from bigger cities visiting these past few days—they're all eager for tomorrow. That's why you're seeing an influx of bloodline beasts in our city," she casually pointed out, trying to show Rex the significance of the day.
"But I hardly saw three or four Pureblood beasts," Rex muttered. He had picked up the new term 'Pureblood' used to refer to beasts that possessed a bloodline.
"Exactly. They're very rare," Seraphine replied with a smile.
As they walked, Rex noticed several beasts imprisoned and shackled behind bars.
Passing a few of them, he even spotted a dwarf—a new race. Eyes glowing with curiosity, he quickly checked its status. After all, this was his first encounter with a dwarf—a being of another race.
[Hanmean Pebblehorn]

After checking its status, they walked past a few more prisons, and then, his attention shifted as they stopped before what appeared to be an imprisoned... human?
Rex couldn't point it out. The wild aura emanating from the shackled man behind the bars was... inhuman and beastly, to say the least—nothing like a human, who looked like one.
"...With many guests, everyone's eager for tomorrow to bid on this Pureblood beast." She began pointing at the human.
"We've already announced about it to draw everyone's attention. But there's a problem—we can't set a price on it, and no appraiser has been able to identify its bloodline yet.
Although we've confirmed it's a bloodline beast, we don't know what bloodline it has, which is as good as having none," Seraphine sighed in frustration, then looked at Rex with hopeful eyes.
"Maybe you can identify—"
Her words blurred as Rex's attention shifted when Arcane's voice rang in his mind, heavy with an unfamiliar emotion.
{Father} she called, voice filled with longing.
Finding it strange, Rex immediately responded, {Yes, Arcane?}
{No... other Father,} she replied.
Rex blinked rapidly as if he'd heard her wrong.
Then, he doubtfully glanced at the shackled man in front of him. As the realization hit him, his brows shot up instantly.
"WHAT?!" Rex gasped.
