I Can Tame Everything!-Chapter 49: Currying favors! I
"It’s me, big sister. You already forgot about me?" he said in a sad tone, flashing an innocent look.
"Ohh, Rex, w-what’s with your appearance? Why do you look so different?" she asked with an evasive glance.
Rex scooted closer. "His Majesty Rhegor gave me this ring to hide my identity," he whispered in a hushed tone.
At this moment, Rex looked like an ordinary kid with black hair and dark pupils, giving him a very simple and average look.
"By the way, I heard big sister Vivienne also has an Aspect. Can you share it with me?" he inquired, subtly showing eagerness.
She smiled and began, "My Aspect is not that great compared to you or Aelindra. It’s ’battle clarity.’
The more intense the fight, the faster I can adapt. I can also read patterns and predict enemy moves," she revealed her Aspect in a steady voice.
Rex furrowed his brows in surprise. He had expected it to be something much stronger, but he couldn’t say that out loud, so he lied while pretending to like her Aspect.
"That is incredible," he mumbled and moved his gaze toward the beautifully striking elf princess.
"Does Princess Aelindra also have an Aspect?" he asked with a soft smile.
Aelindra tilted her head in a questioning manner and looked at Princess Vivienne, who gave an approving nod.
"Yes, I do have an Aspect. It’s the Aspect of Chronoeye," she said and began explaining its features calmly.
"I was born with an eye attuned to the flow of time—granting me brief, instinctual glimpses into the near past or near future.
But I can’t control it yet. The glimpses are involuntary—triggered by danger, strong emotion, or touch."
"Ohhh, that is very strong and impressive, sister Aelindra," he mused, surprised by her Aspect.
Seeing this, out of jealousy or spite, Vivienne looked at Darius standing beside Rex and questioned, "Will your friend also join us in the forest? He is very weak, you know," she said while making a face.
"I can only protect you, Rex. I don’t know about him," she asserted in a firm tone.
Rex suppressed a frown and remarked with a faint smile, "You don’t have to worry about him. He is as talented as me, if not more, so he’ll get stronger quickly," Rex stated calmly.
"Don’t worry, Your Grace. I will be by Rex’s side, and you can freely ignore me even if I’m in danger," Darius asserted, with a steady gaze.
Seeing the growing tension, Rex quickly changed the subject and inquired, "Can you introduce the party members to us, please?" he said and thought,
Though I’ve already decided I’ll hunt solo, because I don’t want to kill beasts for their selfish reasons, and I can also grow faster without being watched.
Then, some time passed by as Vivienne introduced their party members, which consisted of eight other members.
Everyone was normal, without any Aspects; however, they were exceptionally strong, most being at Lord Rank 3-stars.
Time passed by, and Rex and Darius also began to enjoy the view. Rex spoke with Vivienne, while Darius also spoke in between with Aelindra.
Darius looked at Rex with deep gratitude. One moment he was just a village boy being kidnapped to who knew what fate, and the other moment he was with royals on a flying ship.
Rex himself couldn’t believe how things turned out. It was even more outrageous for him, being reborn in a new world filled with mana...
As he was pondering while gazing at the beautiful view from above—cities, villages, and some forests passed by, unrestrained by any buildings. Then...
A light tap on his shoulders snapped him back to the present. Rex had a habit of getting lost in thought that he had carried from Earth.
"So, how is it going, Rex?" Rhegor asked in a rough voice, flashing a dazzling smile.
It seemed their meeting is over, Rex thought. And for some reason, Rhegor was even happier compared to when Rex had left the room.
They were in a much more secluded area of the ship, where common folks couldn’t easily enter. So there was no issue of privacy or others noticing them.
"It’s good. And I’m also enjoying the beautiful view from here," he said with a small smile.
"Haha, kid. After I deeply thought about it, your Aspect is quite revolutionary," he exclaimed with pure glee and continued,
"I was already thinking of creating an artifact that identifies Purebloods, and after knowing about your Aspect, I immediately thought of a great idea." He paused for a brief moment.
"Hear me out. We can first capture bloodline prints from the Purebloods and save them in the artifact.
Then, we capture bloodline prints of average beasts. If both the bloodlines match, we can conclude that it’s a Pureblood," he said and sighed dreamily.
"Well, this is just a simple idea for now. I’ll have to think about many things, but I’m sure I can make it work," he muttered happily to himself.
"Anyways, enough about an old man’s rambling. What weapons do you use?" Rhegor asked casually with the same happiness.
Rex narrowed his brows, then with a thoughtful look he replied, "For now, I’m using daggers."
"Can you show them to me?" Rhegor, the dwarf king, asked.
Rex nodded brazenly and pulled out his two daggers, which were quite ordinary-looking, with a plain metal sheen glowing faintly.
"Hmmm... They are Un-Graded, which is very low and ordinary," he remarked after looking at them in a single glance and handed the daggers back to Rex.
Then, he pulled out a metal box at half an arm’s length.
"Here, take this. These are from Uncle Rhegor to our young Rex," he said and opened the metal box in front of Rex’s eyes.
There lay two daggers, gleaming dangerously red. Even looking at the daggers made Rex tingle slightly. Looking at his reaction, Rhegor began its introduction proudly.
"I myself made them, so you can feel honored that I’m giving this to you. They are Grade–3 weapons, ranked 7th in the whole world," he said, singing their praises.
Then, with a thoughtful look, he added, "Along with that, take this storage ring as well. It might help you with storing many things," he concluded while giving him two treasures—in fact, three if he counted the disguising ring.
Damn, those daggers are really nice, Rex thought and looked at Rhegor’s expression. And that ring too... but I’m sure he wants something back from me. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"Thank you, Uncle Rhegor, for these wonderful treasures," Rex thanked him and immediately grabbed the metal box from his hands. "I’ll go and show this to big sister Vivienne," he said and began walking away with rapid steps.
"Wait, Rex, come here," he yelled, instructing him to come back, and Rex reluctantly had to follow as he walked back.
Rhegor pulled out a new fruit, and as soon as he did, Arcane perched up on Rex’s shoulders, focused her eyes, looking at the fruit.
"Here, give this Starbloom peach fruit to your beast. It should definitely like it," he said and handed over a fruit. It faintly glowed with a yellow hue.
Soon, "Rhegor, you really are quick, huh?" Syltheria peered at him with an exaggerated frown and stepped in, along with King Edmund standing calmly beside her with a soft smile.
