I Can Use Myriad Divine Abilities-Chapter 177: The Coming Rain
[Extraordinary life form capable of being contained discovered!]
A striking notification faded in Zhang Yuan’s vision.
Unperturbed, Zhang Yuan continued onward, leaving the towering structure behind.
In fact, the same notification had appeared the instant he stepped into the Celestial King Hall.
And had continued to appear multiple times.
What does it signify?
It suggests the presence of extraordinary life forms within this tower that can be contained by the Divine Nest!
Furthermore, Zhang Yuan’s Divine Nest had just undergone an upgrade.
Creating an additional vacant nest chamber!
But unfortunately...
The discovered location is rather troublesome.
The population both inside and outside of the Xia Ruins could very well reach over a million.
Located in the core area of Central Ruins, the Celestial King Hall is undoubtedly the center of public faith due to its significance.
Within the towering structure, it is bound to be a gathering place of hidden talents and countless strong individuals.
Even just one Daoist Xuan Cheng is enough to make Zhang Yuan wary and cautious.
How then could he search for the extraordinary life forms inside?
Of course, it’s not entirely impossible.
Daoist Xuan Cheng’s invitation is undoubtedly a wonderful opportunity.
With the title of Outer Guardian, Zhang Yuan should have no trouble freely entering and leaving the Celestial King Hall.
Maybe he’ll actually catch the entity triggering the Divine Nest.
Yet, it’s the last option!
Zhang Yuan quickly dismissed the idea.
The Xia Ruins is so vast, bordered by Taiwu Mountain, the Long Celestial River, and the Great Dream Marsh downstream.
There must be other extraordinary life forms capable of being contained.
Why bother setting up needless troubles for himself?
So it’s better to let it be.
Then Zhang Yuan purchased an ox cart, several hundred pounds of grains, smoked meats, dried vegetables, as well as firewood, and coal from the open-air market in Ruins City.
The fully loaded cart is to prepare for the impending rainy season.
In truth, even without these supplies, Zhang Yuan would survive.
Fish in the Long Celestial River are endless; with his Water Profound Communication ability, diving into the river promises rich rewards.
Filling his stomach wouldn’t be a problem at all.
But now Zhang Yuan isn’t short on money, so why suffer through unsatisfactory meals?
He drove the ox cart leisurely out of Ruins City.
As Zhang Yuan entered the West Mountain Collection, he immediately sensed multiple eyes watching him from the shadows.
Clearly, Zhang Yuan’s purchase of supplies had caught some people’s attention.
After all, no one living in this region is a mere pushover!
But Zhang Yuan remains fearless.
With his current strength, he’s invincible against anyone below Tier Four, easily defeating any random trio or quintet of Tier Three individuals.
And as for Tier Four and above...
Why would such strong individuals stoop to living in such a rundown place?
They wouldn’t covet such trivial things!
Zhang Yuan even hoped some reckless individuals would cause trouble.
He could harvest Source Material from them!
Thus, he swaggered back home.
First, Zhang Yuan unloaded all the goods and then led the ox to the stable in the backyard to tie it up.
He didn’t plan to keep it for long; he bought it not just for transporting goods but primarily for the fresh beef it could provide.
After putting away the grains, meats, vegetables, and coal in the kitchen, Zhang Yuan let out a long breath.
Knock! Knock!
Just then, he heard a knock at the door.
Intrigued, Zhang Yuan went out to open the gate.
The visitor was an elderly man with grayish hair, thin and stooped, dressed in a shabby cloth outfit.
He looked like a decrepit, destitute embodiment of old age.
Zhang Yuan asked, "Old man, what brings you here?"
The old man chuckled, revealing his stained, uneven teeth.
He clasped his hands in courtesy: "I am Kou Tai, greetings to you, young brother."
The hunched old man pointed to the right direction, continuing, "I live over there, technically your neighbor. Excuse my intrusion today; I’m here to ask if I can borrow some grain."
He bowed again, "I’m in urgent need!"
Unexpectedly for Zhang Yuan, right after buying grain, someone came asking to borrow it.
This Old Man Kou sure had thick skin.
But Zhang Yuan remained calm on the surface, asking: "How much do you need?"
Kou Tai promptly raised one finger: "A hundred pounds."
A hundred pounds?
Zhang Yuan smirked: "And what would you offer as collateral?"
Grains in the Xia Ruins largely rely on the harvest by countless farmers outside the Ruins; they were recently harvested, so current grain prices in Ruins City are fairly stable.
However, when Zhang Yuan went to purchase, he noticed a slight hike.
Everyone was stocking up for the rainy season, after all.
"Collateral?"
Old Man Kou seemed dumbfounded, "What collateral?"
Zhang Yuan replied coolly, "A hundred pounds of grain isn’t a small amount, we are strangers, if you take off who should I go ask for it?"
Old Man Kou was speechless.
Was Zhang Yuan’s reasoning sound?
Absolutely sound!
The West Mountain Collection isn’t an ordinary place; its inhabitants aren’t easily taken advantage of.
They are more guarded than friendly here.
Why should Zhang Yuan lend grain to him without a reason?
Old Man Kou mused for a moment, then gritted his teeth, "How about this, you give me a hundred pounds of grain, and I help you make a romantic connection."
Zhang Yuan puzzled, "Connect? Connect what?"
Old Man Kou lowered his voice, "A matchmaker’s connection!"
"My neighbor couple, the husband recently got badly injured in a duel and is now bedridden and dying; the wife is likely losing her support..."
Bam!
Zhang Yuan slammed the door shut.
What kind of nonsense is this!
No sooner had Zhang Yuan opened the door than he regretted it, for he’d wasted time talking nonsense with this crude old fellow.
The couple, with the husband not yet deceased, and here the old guy tried to pimp out and made a fool of Zhang Yuan.
Already, it’s exceedingly gracious that Zhang Yuan hadn’t slapped the old fellow silly!
"You!"
In shock, Old Man Kou was left flustered at the door, ashamed despite his thick skin: "Ungrateful!"
But no sooner had he spoken, Zhang Yuan’s voice came through the door, "Keep yakking, and I’ll throw you into the Long Celestial River to feed the fish!"
Old Man Kou shivered instantly.
His voice carried a cold and murderous intent; Zhang Yuan wasn’t joking.
If he continued being obtuse, his old bones might indeed end up in the riverbed!
Reluctantly shutting his mouth, the old man slunk away.
Through the Red-eyed Crow’s perspective, Zhang Yuan watched his departure with disdain, shaking his head.
Boom!
Just then, thunder rumbled across the sky.
Thick clouds gathered overhead, soon releasing scattered drops of rain.
Standing in the courtyard, Zhang Yuan extended his palm, catching some raindrops.
The rainy season truly was coming.
In moments, the rain grew heavier.
Yet, raindrops landing on Zhang Yuan seemed to hit an invisible barrier and bounced off.
The scene was nothing short of magical.
If seen by a Martial Artist now, they’d likely think Zhang Yuan was a Tier Four Martial Artist, using True Qi to ward off the rain.
But Zhang Yuan hadn’t even opened up his Sea of Qi, let alone refined True Qi.
What he exercised was one of the Basic Water Profound Communication abilities granted by the Level 4 White Dragon Loach.
Water Control!
