Chapter 600 -516: Everything Has a Wavelength! [Thanks to Alliance Leader Plow for the reward of 110,000 starting coins after Sword Travel]

Calculate a person’s wavelength?

The Wizards present were somewhat incredulous. Could humans actually have wave-like properties?

Jeffrey’s face was filled with disbelief. Even though he was one of the pioneers of the Light Wave property, he wouldn’t dare to claim such ludicrous remarks that humans possess wave-like properties!

Lynn proceeded as if he had not seen the astonishment of everyone around him. With his hand as a pen, he casually wrote several symbols in the air, which happened to be the famous de Broglie wavelength formula!

New novel chapt𝒆rs are published on ƒгeewebnovёl.com.

The equation was incredibly simple, clear at a glance.

It might even be said to be so simple that it was somewhat unbelievable!

λ=h/p!

The symbol λ stands for wavelength.

P was very familiar to them; it signifies momentum, the product of an object’s mass and velocity!

The only unfamiliar thing was the h.

“This is the quantum constant, which, like the gravitational constant, is a fixed value, 6.626×10^(-34) joules per second!” Lynn explained.

Upon hearing the term “quantum constant,” the Wizards in the room who were keen on researching the micro-domain immediately showed a look of understanding.

This was a concept that Lynn had mentioned in his paper published in the Magic Daily, “The World of Probability—Quantum Mechanics,” during his exposition of the research on radiant light and the particle nature of electromagnetic waves.

Electromagnetic waves propagate in the form of electromagnetic fields, but when they interact with charged particles, they show a discontinuity in energy and momentum.

Therefore, this Magic star hypothesized that its emission and absorption were not continuous but discretized, and thus, there must be a minimum value!

This value is the quantum constant—the smallest divisible amount of energy!

Translated, the entire wavelength calculation formula meant an object’s wavelength is equal to the quantum constant divided by its momentum!

With a Grand Wizard’s computing power, Anthony only took a second to calculate that an adult walking at a normal speed has a wavelength of about 10^(-37) meters, a scale that is nearly negligible.

Forget about the naked eye, even the perception of legendary Wizards could not possibly reach such scales.

“But this quantum constant should only be your hypothesis, correct?” Jeffrey was not convinced by the wave formula Lynn had put forward.

After all, using a hypothetical concept to prove that one’s theory was completely accurate was absurd!

Before Lynn could speak, Ailoke, who couldn’t hold back, explained eagerly.

“This is not a hypothesis, but the greatest achievement of the Dean’s research into electromagnetic waves and thermal radiation! We have already found a way to emit individual quanta of light. This wavelength formula is one hundred percent accurate in calculating the wavelength and frequency of light and electricity and can even predict the possible locations of microscopic particles, almost perfectly coinciding with experimental results!”

As Ailoke spoke, Lynn’s lips also curled into a smile. Whenever the Quantum Domain was involved, the Planck constant became a priority to verify, as too many formulas are related to it. It is the third physical constant that could be referred to as such, after the speed of light and the gravitational constant!

Unfortunately, due to limited conditions, Lynn could only replicate the rotating geometric device used by Joseph von Faf to measure the Planck constant, which was not very precise.

To increase the precision further, he would probably need to rely on a particle collider.

When Anthony and the others heard Ailoke say that they had already found light quanta, they were utterly astonished.

Why were electrons used in the previous double-slit interference experiment? That was of course because they had no way to emit photons one at a time!

Some steadfast Wave Faction Wizards even believe that photons simply do not exist, as it has been determined to be an electromagnetic wave!

It’s a wave, not a particle!

But if Ailoke was not lying, then it means that this conclusion must also be overturned, and that waves also possess particle characteristics!

Alade, on the other hand, noticed another more explosive piece of news and spoke excitedly, “You just said you can predict the landing positions of micro-particles?”

The Wizards present also quickly caught on, and even the three chairpersons Harrov, Aurora, and Vittorio could not remain seated.

Due to the many strange characteristics in the micro-domain, coupled with the extremely small size of the entities, there is simply no way to measure them to any degree, even the gravitational deformation amplification method previously used to measure atoms has failed.

Therefore, until now, data about the shape, mass, and trajectory of quantum entities is entirely a blank slate.

For example, in the double-slit experiment, they do not know where the next electron might appear, or even whether it will hit the fluorescent screen.

This is the biggest problem currently faced in researching micro-particles, as all of their characteristics seem chaotic, with no clue to be found.

“Speaking of prediction, of course we can,” Lynn said with a smile, and then went on to explain, “It’s just not the kind of precise prediction you’re thinking of, it should be called a probability cloud distribution chart!”

To predict the exact position of a certain quantum entity at a certain moment with a single prediction is nearly an impossible task.

Because the Federation has proven through countless experiments that it truly behaves randomly and is not a pseudo-random pattern that cycles according to a certain routine.

But if more than 100,000 electron emissions are performed, then the accuracy of this probability cloud distribution model can reach over 99.9%!

Just like flipping a coin in your hand, as long as the number of flips is high enough, the times it lands heads or tails will always tend to be close to fifty percent!

“So every micro-particle is constantly throwing dice, deciding where it will appear the next moment it’s observed?” Jeffrey couldn’t understand, “Doesn’t this require energy to be consumed?”

“Why not the other way around? Maybe energy is consumed only when the probability collapses,” Lynn shrugged.

This strange yet reasonable statement left Jeffrey speechless.

Alade and others were contemplating Lynn’s proposed wavelength formula and probability cloud model.

The latter had not yet been experimentally validated to confirm its authenticity, so they could not evaluate it; however, the former indeed perfectly matched what Lynn had just described, indicating that the more macroscopic an object, the weaker the wave properties it exhibited.

After all, the larger the momentum P as the divisor, the smaller the value of the wavelength obtained, which becomes insignificant compared to its own mass and volume.

Only quantum entities that are also in a microscopic state would display wave properties that are particularly pronounced compared to their mass.

Or rather, this conclusion itself could have been inferred from the formula!

Alade, deep in thought, quickly considered that this wavelength formula and the probability cloud model might be one of the entry points for studying the Quantum Domain…

Wait, weren’t they here to oppose the theory of probability?

Alade suddenly realized this point.

Damn, he was almost swayed by the Star of Magic!
