Chapter 49 - The Cardinal World in Turmoil

Time flowed differently in the mortal world compared to the Cardinal World, but I was in no rush. Velzard and I were still enjoying our escapade, indulging in the luxuries of Earth, away from the chaos that I knew was slowly building back in Tempest.

I sipped a glass of wine on the balcony of a five-star resort, overlooking the pristine waters of the Maldives, while Velzard, dressed in an elegant white swimsuit, walked barefoot along the soft, golden sand. The sunset bathed the ocean in hues of orange and pink, creating a breathtaking view.

She glanced back at me, her silver-blue hair catching the light like a shimmering cascade of silk, her glacier-blue eyes locked onto mine.

"You're smirking again," she said with a playful huff, her lips curling into a slight pout.

She walked over, placing her hands on my shoulders and leaning in.

"Alright, spill it. What are you scheming now?"

I chuckled and placed my hand on hers, pulling her into my lap.

"Nothing much..." I replied coyly, brushing my lips against her delicate knuckles.

"Just thinking about a rather... dramatic entrance I'll be making soon."

I gave her a devilish grin.

"You know me, love. I have a thing for flair and grandeur."

She tilted her head, a knowing smirk tugging at her lips.

"Let me guess. You're planning on upstaging the Demon Lords?"

I shrugged casually, feigning innocence.

"Maybe."

She chuckled softly, leaning down and kissing me slowly, before whispering against my lips.

"You're so full of yourself... I love it."

While I was lazing around in paradise, the Cardinal World was rapidly changing.

Rimuru Tempest, the once-ordinary slime, had grown exponentially stronger in a short span of time.

After devouring Veldora and venturing into the Jura Forest, Rimuru's legend had spread.

He befriended the Goblins, giving them names, and in doing so, bestowed power upon them, turning them into Hobgoblins.

Then, he conquered the Direwolves, taking in Ranga and his pack as his loyal subordinates.

But Rimuru didn't stop there.

He met and recruited the Ogres, who became Kijin under his blessing:

Benimaru, the crimson flame samurai with a calm yet deadly aura.

Shion, the powerhouse secretary, comically clumsy yet fiercely loyal.

Souei, the silent assassin, swift and precise.

Hakuro, the aged swordmaster with skills sharper than any mortal blade.

Together, they helped Rimuru build the monster nation, Tempest, which soon flourished into a powerful force.

But it was only the beginning.

As Tempest grew, it didn't take long before envy and greed from the surrounding nations set their sights on it.

The Kingdom of Falmuth, driven by avarice and prejudice, saw Tempest as a threat to their political power and trade dominance.

They formed an alliance with the Western Holy Church, seeking to eradicate the rising monster nation.

The attack was swift and merciless.

A force of 20,000 soldiers marched into Tempest, backed by blessed champions, adventurers, and powerful mages.

At first, they believed Tempest would fall easily.

But they were gravely mistaken.

When Rimuru returned from, he found his people slaughtered.

In the center of town, Shion and dozens of his citizens lay lifeless, their bodies cold and still.

The once vibrant village was now painted in blood, and the stench of death filled the air.

Rimuru stood in the center of the carnage, his golden eyes wide with disbelief, his voice trembling.

"No... No, no, no, no..." he muttered hoarsely, falling to his knees beside Shion's lifeless body, his hands trembling as he brushed the blood-matted hair from her face.

"Shion... wake up..." he whispered weakly.

But there was no response.

His heart clenched, rage boiling within him, and his aura grew unstable.

That was the moment Rimuru Tempest changed.

No longer the kind, carefree slime.

He was now the vessel of wrath itself.

Rimuru stood on the battlefield, his azure slime body now brimming with darkness, his golden eyes cold and empty.

With a single gesture, he unleashed a tempest of death, tearing through Falmuth's forces like paper in a hurricane.

"You brought this upon yourselves."

The clouds darkened overhead, and magicules churned violently, responding to his wrath.

He activated Megiddo, summoning thousands of floating lenses, each one refracting deadly beams of pure magic.

"Die."

The beams rained down from the sky, slicing through armor and flesh alike, turning entire battalions into scattered ash.

Soldiers screamed in terror as their bodies were disintegrated, leaving nothing but smoldering embers.

"You dared harm my people..." Rimuru's voice was a cold whisper, yet it echoed with divine authority.

"For that, you will pay with your lives."

As the last of the 20,000 soldiers fell, their souls were collected, swirling around Rimuru like a maelstrom of sorrow and despair.

And then it happened.

In a blinding flash of light, Rimuru evolved, becoming a True Demon Lord.

His magicules multiplied tenfold, and Veldora was freed from his seal, emerging from the void with a roar that shook the land.

"I'M FREE!!!" Veldora's voice boomed as he stretched his colossal wings, feeling the freedom of the open air once again.

He gazed down at Rimuru, a toothy grin spreading across his face.

"Oh-ho! Well done, my friend! You actually did it!"

Rimuru, now crowned in darkness, turned and locked eyes with Veldora, his expression calm yet cold.

"Yeah... but I'm not done yet."

Back on the luxurious yacht, I stood by the railing, gazing out at the sunset over the ocean, a chilled glass of whiskey in my hand.

Velzard walked over, wearing a silky white dress, her silver hair glimmering in the evening sun. She slipped her arms around me, resting her head on my chest.

"You're smirking again," she teased softly.

"What's going on now?"

I chuckled darkly, swirling the amber liquid in my glass.

"It's started..." I whispered, my golden eyes glimmering with anticipation.

"Rimuru Tempest has evolved... and the whole world is about to learn what true power really is."

She looked up at me, her icy-blue eyes curious.

"And when are you going to make your entrance?"

I placed the glass down, my fingers brushing through her silken hair as I leaned in.

"Oh... I'll wait until Walpurgis," I whispered against her lips.

"After all, what's the fun in making a small entrance... when you can bring the entire Cardinal World to its knees?"

She smirked devilishly.

"I can't wait to see it."
