I Got Reincarnated as a Zombie Girl-Chapter 65 – An Unusual Silence
Chapter 65: Chapter 65 – An Unusual Silence
After soaking for about thirty minutes, I finally stepped out of the bath. My body felt lighter, as if all the burden and fatigue had been dissolved by the warm steam.
I put on my black dress again—it was starting to feel... a bit too iconic. I looked at my reflection in the mirror.
"Hmm... maybe I should look for some other clothes," I murmured softly.
After that, I returned to my room. The moonlight was still slipping in through the large window, casting soft patterns on the stone floor and the bedsheets. I laid down on the mattress and closed my eyes, letting the silent sounds of the night lull me to sleep.
The next morning, I was awakened by the soft sunlight filtering through the thin curtains. The wind passing through the ruins of the villa filled the air with a quiet hum.
I stepped out of the room and headed to the small garden in the backyard. Sitting on a stone bench, I stared at the wild grass growing chaotically.
"Feels empty... just weeds," I said quietly.
I stood up, stretched a little, then nodded to myself. "Maybe I should get some ornamental plants."
With light steps, I left the villa and began walking through the once-bustling city. Now, only ruins and lifeless buildings greeted me.
But what was strange... the zombies scattered along the streets didn’t attack. They simply stood still, as if they knew who I was, parting to let me pass—as if I were their queen.
I went from one shopping center to another. Most of the food stores were destroyed and filled with rotting goods, but I wasn’t looking for food. My goal was clear—clothing.
In the clothing section, I found various outfits still in good condition. Evening gowns, long coats, casual wear, even some bizarre garments with bold colors. I picked out the ones that suited my taste—black, white, and deep red—then brought them all back to the villa using Void Step.
Once in my room, I folded and arranged the new clothes in the wardrobe, which was slowly beginning to feel like my own. This villa, little by little, was becoming a home.
After that, I went for another walk through the city. While passing through narrow alleys and crumbling buildings, I realized there were still quite a few humans who had survived. They were good at hiding, watching from the shadows with fearful faces. But I didn’t care. They didn’t bother me, and I saw no need to attack them.
Today... felt peaceful.
Toward the evening, I returned to the backyard garden. Standing in the middle of the empty ground, I raised my hand and began channeling magic: Netherwood.
Dark energy enveloped the earth. Slowly, from the cracked ground, a large tree grew—wide branches and thick leaves in a dull gray hue. Strange... but somehow fitting for the atmosphere of this garden.
I touched the trunk of the tree, amazed by what I had created.
Then, curiosity drove me to experiment with various nether magic manipulations. From those random trials, a new spell appeared on my status screen:
[Spell Unlocked: Nether Bloom]Grows flowers from nether wood. Colors: gray, white, or silver. MP Cost: 100.
I smiled faintly. "Fairly cheap."
I activated Nether Bloom, and pale flowers began to bloom from the ground—bone white, smoky gray, and silvery ash. They weren’t as beautiful as the flowers of the old world, but... they held a peaceful, deathly aesthetic.
I filled the entire garden with those flowers. Under the evening light, they looked like a frozen sea of mist.
The garden was now alive—in a dark and quiet way.
I stood in the middle of it, admiring what I had created. And for the first time in a long while... this villa felt like home.
I sat on the garden bench, surrounded by Nether Bloom flowers blooming in shades of gray and pale white. The evening breeze gently swept through my loose hair, and the orange sky began to shift into deep violet, casting a tranquil and magical feeling over the garden.
A somber, yet beautiful view. Death had its own kind of aesthetic.
"Your sense of aesthetics is wonderful, Sylvia. "That soft and familiar voice echoed in my mind.
I gave a small smile. "Ohh, Alicia. You’re finally speaking again."
A soft giggle followed. "Fufu~ I didn’t want to interrupt your time... with your little lover."
I raised an eyebrow. "Huh? I don’t have a lover."
"Ohh? Isn’t that light girl your lover?" she asked, her tone teasing and mocking.
I looked up at the sky, trying to hide my face that was beginning to feel warm—even though this body shouldn’t be able to feel heat.
"No, she’s no—"
"But you like her, don’t you?"
I fell silent.
My tongue felt tied. Words refused to come out. Not because I didn’t know the answer... but because I was too embarrassed to admit it.
"Hah~ Come on~ just say how you feel. "Alicia’s voice was becoming more mischievous.
I let out a sigh and looked away toward the big tree I had grown earlier. "It’s impossible... we’re too different."
"And why should that matter?" Alicia responded gently but seriously. "What matters is that you like each other, right? If so, why not give it a try?"
Her words were simple, but they struck deep into my heart. No system, race, or line between death and life could truly explain feelings like this.
"Really...?" I whispered.
"Yes. Just try. There’s nothing wrong with loving."
I remained silent for a long moment. The wind blew softly again, carrying the faint scent of the Nether Bloom flowers. I leaned back against the bench, gazing at the twilight sky now dotted with stars.
Even though I’m a zombie—a creature with no heartbeat or life left in its body—my heart still races whenever I think of Sofia. Not literally, of course—my heart has long stopped beating—but something inside me stirs.
A faint, warm tremor, almost painful... like remnants of humanity that haven’t completely died.
That feeling only surfaces when I remember her smile, her voice, and the way she looks at me—not as a monster, but as someone worthy of love. And even if this body belongs to death, perhaps... my feelings are still alive.
