I Have a Dice Left by a God-Chapter 426 - 18: Reunion
In the morning, Lin Fei had already prepared a sumptuous breakfast, and Li Xin resumed his days of having meals ready at a moment's notice.
"Ah Xin, you're taking me to school today!" In her Grace Class uniform, Xueyin looked particularly lively like a playful little deer.
"Sure, I have nothing else to do anyway," Li Xin said.
"Kathy is coming over this weekend," Lin Fei mentioned. She never pried into Kathy and Li Xin's secret matters, but gatherings were a must.
"Auntie Kathy always brings loads of tasty treats and pretty clothes whenever she comes. But mom usually doesn't let me wear them," Xueyin pouted. Ever since Li Xin came back, she finally found an ally.
"School is for uniforms, nothing else allowed. Lin Xueyin, I warn you, don't cause trouble at school. If I find out you bullied your classmates, watch how I deal with you," Lin Fei, dressed in an editor's uniform, was firm and business-like.
"Warmly welcome Little Rich Lady Auntie, ah, now you're a Secretary, I must curry favor," Li Xin joked.
The Grace Class was not far from here. Li Xin held a small hand with his big hand; they swayed back and forth, their hands flinging high, having endless fun. Xueyin was exceptionally delighted, chattering all the way, sharing her glorious achievements at the Grace Class with Li Xin.
In the carriage, Lin Fei slept late last night. Their department faced the biggest challenges; without valuable interviews or news, passing would be tough. Today, she planned to interview a scholar from the Celestial Principle Academy.
At the Grace Class entrance, Xueyin proudly showed off her brother, Li Xin, like a big doll.
Seeing Xueyin and her classmates hopping into school, Li Xin headed home. In Celestial Capital, things were more casual; he visited Night Patrol when necessary. Now with Kathy busy at the Church Court, she hadn't reached out, perhaps undecided. No rush, wait for the weekend.
In the morning, he strolled around to understand the surroundings, bought a coffee on the way back; coffee in Dragon Capital was pricier than in Hedan. He thought Li Long Vegetable Market lacked good coffee options, but it turned out to be more cost-effective locally. Coffee in Dragon Capital was quite bitter, poorly blended beans. Once Kathy comes, he'll sort some better beans; his taste buds got spoiled in Hedan.
Bitter or not, as he typed away, he couldn't taste it anymore, the typewriter clattered noisily. After writing a while, he stood by habit, moving to the window, realizing he wasn't in Hedan anymore. The weather was good, yet still foggy. Aunt Fei also said Dragon Capital often had severe fog, even more than Celestial Capital. Hex-Tech's crude smelting pollution remained serious. Survival was prioritized this era, few cared about it.
At noon, Li Xin hailed a carriage at the junction to Divine Revelation Canon Law School, Li Long United Kingdom's finest academy, a Dao Yuan Continent academy benchmark. Here, everyone took pride in joining Divine Revelation Canon Law School, but entry standards were very strict. Only Luo Xue and Fei Ruolin were selected from Celestial Capital, as Lusor the Grand Governor's descendant, Lu Shuai, and Saxon Huerta entered the Tranquil Canon Law School, also prestigious.
As the carriage headed to the academy, along the way luxury carriages and "Hex-Tech power cars" appeared - simple convertible power cars, thunderous, which Li Xin deemed a century behind three-wheel scooters. Yet in Dragon Capital, they're trendy, not easily acquired, and nearer Divine Revelation Canon Law School, prosperity grew.
At the entrance, Luo Xue and Fei Ruolin chatted cheerfully. Luo Xue's striking silver high ponytail drew attention, Fei Ruolin had matured, wondering what she ate to look so good. She was here for further studies; occasionally academy students greeted Luo Xue. After entering Divine Revelation Canon Law School, she passed the Divine Revelation Black Rose test, becoming a member - a reputable role.
Lu Shuai and Huerta arrived, Lu Shuai appeared more dashing than before, a suit neatly groomed, Huerta grew sturdier and composed.
"Luo Xue, Ruolin Senior, wow, oh my, Senior, I recall just seeing you last month, did you grow again?" Lu Shuai exclaimed at Fei Ruolin's figure.
Fei Ruolin was speechless, familiar faces near didn't silence this guy. "So annoying, I've restrained it a lot, yet can't control it!"
Fei Ruolin was frustrated, burdens heavy, affecting her looks severely, bound tightly but found tighter binding induced more growth.
"Wherever there's oppression, there's resistance!" Lu Shuai sighed, "The Grand Governor speaks true."
Fei Ruolin finally couldn't resist, flushed red, stamped angrily, "Shut up! You're infuriating me!"
"Haha, Senior, when girls can't see their toes, that's absolute beauty, I'm genuinely admiring, that's how books describe." Lu Shuai chuckled, "Haha, hasn't Brother Li arrived yet."
Luo Xue and Ruolin Senior greeted, Huerta glanced toward the street, a year passed.
They all felt nostalgic; after Li Xin left, certain truths emerged. Though situations were unclear, Li Xin likely contributed, unfairly sacrificed.
Luo Xue's change was most apparent; losing the Four Nations Exchange struck her down but helped her recognize herself, no longer disheartened, she eventually came to Dragon Capital, less arrogant as a noble born.
"I heard Hedan's climate is much cozier than Dragon Capital, its soil nourishing," Fei Ruolin commented.
"Nowhere matches Li Long, Celestial Capital's issues clarified, Brother Li should've returned already." Lu Shuai mentioned, "Hedan's beauties are rumored aplenty."
"You think only women, it seems at the academy you engage in flowers and plants daily, where's those lofty promises?" Fei Ruolin couldn't help retorting.
"I'm pursuing those grand promises, perfecting for a fair lady supreme, haven't found her yet, can't idle, refining myself," causal among friends, Lu Shuai replied jovially.
Fei Ruolin could only shake her head, advice ineffective.
Li Xin's carriage arrived; all four brightened up seeing him. A year hadn't changed much, they remained the same.
Li Xin, Huerta, and Lu Shuai embraced tightly, "President Luo Xue, Senior Ruolin, long time no see."
"Li Xin, you finally returned; Luo Xue invited several times, you ignored it, only now coming." Fei Ruolin remarked.
"When was that, I knew nothing." Li Xin puzzled, only receiving family and Night Patrol telegrams.
"Oh, Senior, why drag it out, you're back, reunion awaits, first eat, starving, President you're host and wealthy, treat us." Lu Shuai laughed.
"Not President now, just call me Luo Xue, welcome back Li Xin, where do you want to eat, there's plenty around." Luo Xue openly offered.
"Let's dine in the academy; Divine Revelation Canon Law School is Dao Yuan's top academy, here must give a tour," Li Xin suggested, the grand gate in ancient relief designs exuded grandeur and elegance. Entering led to a vast, lush lawn straight to a marble pavilion. The academy's interior design impressed, architectural styles mixed, layouts beautiful; students paired in groups, spirited, youthful energy was a spectacle.
"Divine Revelation is good, but Tranquil isn't inferior." Lu Shuai sourly commented, "Someday, they'll regret not admitting me as Divine Revelation's greatest oversight!"
