I Have a Dice Left by a God-Chapter 439 - 31: Citizen Daily
Li Xin walked to the intersection, called a carriage, and headed straight to the Grace Class to pick up Xueyin. When Li Xin arrived, Lin Fei was already there.
"First day at work, already off so early?" Lin Fei laughed.
"I’m now a deputy team leader, so I’m free to come and go as I please," Li Xin said, "But if things get busy, it might be quite hectic."
"I know, I’ll take care of picking up Xueyin." As they spoke, Xueyin bounced out like a little deer returning to the mountains. Seeing Lin Fei and Li Xin coming to pick her up together, she was ecstatic, grabbing one by the hand and hopping into the carriage.
She saw the bag Li Xin was holding, "What’s in there? Something tasty?"
"It’s clothes, my work uniform."
Lin Xueyin opened it and looked, "Wear it for me when we get home. Black, it should look pretty cool."
Having a carriage was indeed convenient. The carriage took the three of them home.
"Old Jiang, thank you. There’s nothing going on today, so you can go back and rest early."
"Alright, Ms. Lin, I’ll take my leave now." The driver, Old Jiang, was probably in his fifties but looked very energetic and spirited.
Watching the carriage drive away, Lin Fei opened the door, "Old Jiang used to work for the Church Court. After retiring, he was hired by Kathy. The carriage is still from the Church Court. It really saves us a lot of trouble."
It had the mark of the Moon God’s Court on it, and unless someone didn’t recognize it, no one would dare to mess with it.
"Ah Xin, go change your clothes, I want to see!" Xueyin said a bit impatiently.
"Do your homework first!" Lin Fei scolded with a serious face. Xueyin widened her eyes, trying to resist, but eventually gave in and dejectedly went upstairs.
Seeing Xueyin go up, Lin Fei let out a sigh of relief and bitterly smiled, "This kid is getting harder to manage as she grows up. Don’t spoil her."
"Aunt Fei, did you run into some trouble? You seem kind of tired," Li Xin asked.
"It’s just work stuff. News isn’t going to report itself, and I’m no pampered lady. This is nothing. But you, whatever job you do, make sure to stay safe and don’t overdo it," Lin Fei advised.
"You know me, good at everything but overexertion."
"Ha, don’t be stubborn. Kathy told me that if you don’t find it yourself, you’ll have to follow the plan in a week’s time." Lin Fei said.
Li Xin immediately put on a bitter face, "Can we be reasonable here? I just got here, where am I supposed to find someone? I can’t just grab someone off the street. Oh, by the way, I got a case on my first day, involving Viscount Li Kuo. Heard of it?"
Lin Fei set her coat down and unbuttoned the top button of her shirt, feeling instantly more relaxed. She poured two glasses of water and handed one to Li Xin, "Heard a bit about it, but it got suppressed and didn’t make it to the press."
"Ah, it’s all the matchmaking’s fault," Li Xin said, holding the water cup. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

Li Xin wiped the water off his face, "Aunt Fei, don’t overreact. Forced fruits are never sweet."
Li Xin briefly explained Li Jingyun’s situation, "If you’re in a rush, how do you deal with bad people, right?"
"Haha, stop talking nonsense. Don’t I know what kind of person you are? It’s good enough if you’re not lying. These tricks don’t work on you. Kathy said she’ll arrange something at the Canon Law School, give you a month to find someone there. No matter what, I want to see progress, and they should be brought home for dinner," Lin Fei said, unknowingly slipping into her work demeanor.
Li Xin was helpless. Every time Lin Fei had this attitude, she was very firm. At such times, he couldn’t push back. He needed to agree first, then drag his feet, create situations, and reasonably delay.
Lin Fei, having changed clothes, stretched her somewhat stiff neck and started cooking. Li Xin wanted to lend a hand but was stopped by Lin Fei, "Save your skills for when Kathy comes, usually it’s my turn."
Relentlessly, she pushed Li Xin out and busied herself.
Dinner was quite warm amidst the bickering between mother and daughter. After eating, Xueyin continued her homework, Lin Fei went upstairs to handle her stuff, while Li Xin returned to his room to keep writing. Man shall not live by bread alone. Though it’s said one lives on others’ slack, such slack never comes easy. Rich, naive women are rare everywhere, not to mention Li Xin didn’t really have David’s capabilities.
The next morning, Lin Fei prepared breakfast, sent Xueyin to school, and then headed to the Hex Bird Society. Today was yet another busy day. Ever since the boss had a meltdown, the pressure kept increasing daily. The pressure from the Justice Daily was immense. Even Hex Bird’s Flying Bird Daily recently started to take a unique path, searching for odd and bizarre news, real or fake, to attract readers. Surprisingly, it worked, pulling in a curious crowd, and Flying Bird Daily’s sales were steadily rising.
The continuous efforts of Justice and Flying Bird put the Citizen Daily directly on the hot seat. They neither had the influence or clout of Justice nor could they bring themselves to fabricate stories like Flying Bird, so they watched their sales gradually plummet.
The boss’s already sparse hair was even more so now, to the point where he wore a hat in the office and wouldn’t take it off during meetings, becoming even more irritable.
Just as Lin Fei finished sorting the drafts on her desk, Jina returned to the office with a sullen face. They usually weren’t this busy, but recently, the boss insisted on early morning meetings every day, concerned with sales and progress, developing plans to beat Justice Daily and Flying Bird Daily. Surpassing Justice Daily was one thing, but the progress of Flying Bird Daily really kept him up at night.
"Lin Fei, to my office," Jina gestured with a finger.
Jina sat on her chair, angry. Lin Fei smiled, already bringing in the coffee, "Did the boss go off again?"
"This old guy’s a real piece of work. Almost bald and still throwing fits. Are we not trying hard enough? The secret department covered some major news but he’s scared of getting in trouble from above and can’t stoop to Flying Bird’s level. We’re caught in the middle, what can we do?" Jina fumed, sipping her coffee, her anger undiminished.
"Sister Na, it’s not worth getting angry over this. Keep a good mood in the morning, or you’ll get wrinkles," Lin Fei said with a slight smile, "I’ve been closely following the Celestial Principle School these past two days. They’re sending a big figure to discuss cooperation."
"My dear Fei Fei, I knew you’d have a way. Have they agreed to an interview?" Jina asked with a smile.
"The Hedan side is sending two Three-star Grandmasters to stay in Dragon Capital. It’s clear they’re aiming to expand their influence, and they’ll definitely accept an interview. I’m still watching closely," Lin Fei said, always one to speak cautiously.
Jina sighed softly, "Then you must take this seriously. If we know about this, so does Justice Daily. The Celestial Principle School currently has tremendous influence at the Canon Law School, comparable to the past glory of Governor Luthor. They’re poised to start a wave of progress. We need to secure this. Not just to match Justice but also to stay ahead of Flying Bird, else if Justice scores it, we’ll have to stoop to bickering with Flying Bird. We must win this battle, or neither of us will fare well."
"Got it. I’m on it right away," Lin Fei, unwilling to be mired in indecision, said. She felt the pressure but wasn’t afraid, proceeding with her methods. Succeed or fail, while she greatly liked and enjoyed the job, work wasn’t everything to her, and she was undaunted.
