Chapter 64: The Hellish Training Begins

Raiden once again found himself standing in the gravity chamber with Woolie, looking banged up from the afternoon.

Next to him stood equally banged-up Morgana and her partner, Cinder. And by the silent, grieving looks she was giving to her mother, it didn’t look like she had a pleasant experience either.

Isadora merrily smiled and ignored the looks both of them were giving her as she clapped her hands.

"Alright, thank you once again for coming here!! Here are your training plans moving forward. First Woolie, and Cinder!"

"Woo?"

"Chirrp?"

Both Terra Beasts looked at the woman in confusion.

"You both will be training with my partner, Lily."

Just as she finished speaking, a majestic, stag-like Terra Beast with a fiery red and golden coat appeared in front of them. Standing tall at 7-8 meters in height, it looked absolutely massive from where Raiden was standing. The most standout feature, though, was its branching antlers that shimmered like starlight as it looked down on them.

"Awoon~" A deep, melodic and resonant sound rang out in the chamber as the stag-like Terran bowed down and nudged at Isadora, who laughed lightly while patting its head.

"As for you kids, you will be training with me, alright?" When Raiden looked at the sweet smile on her face, he shuddered from inside. He had already started to regret agreeing to this training just a little.

Morgana similarly had gone pale-faced hearing this. She found herself completely unfamiliar with this version of her mother.

Just earlier today, she had been subjected to the same level of cruelty as Raiden, if not more.

She had grabbed her by her leg and started dragging her deeper and deeper into the chamber, until her body started breaking down with a smile on her face.

No matter how she screamed or begged, her mother didn’t reply, just dragged her body until she found herself close to death and fainting from too much pain.

Now she didn’t know who had it better, Raiden with instant pain and death, or her with the slow breakdown of her body. Just thinking about that memory sent shivers down her spine.

"Morgana? My dear baby, are you listening to your mother??" The voice snapped her out of her stupor as she found everyone looking at her weirdly, with her mother looking particularly concerned.

"Ah, yes. Listening. I am definitely listening." She answered in a hurry.

"So you agree? Wonderful! I thought you would back out of training, but it’s wonderful to see my daughter acting so brave." Isadora clapped her hands in delight as she finished speaking.

Morgana:???

Why did she just agree to?? And why was everyone giving her weird and sympathetic looks?

-----------------------------

Morgana had started regretting her decision to agree impulsively.

Feeling the soul-crushing weight on her body and looking at the fire that was inching closer from behind, threatening to leave her with second-degree burns at the very least, she regretted her decisions so much.

"Keep moving forward! Don’t stop moving!! If you stop, you’ll get hurt, you know~!" A cheerful voice called from the side, as both Raiden and Morgana did their best to move forward under increasing pressure.

Behind them, the same fire phoenix that burned Raiden inside out just flew around the sky, occasionally letting out fiery breaths that ignited the space behind them.

"Don’t stop using your meditation or physical techniques!! That is the only way not to get burned, you know! I am rooting for you~" Isadora did a little cheering up dance, looking quite mesmerising while doing so, but Raiden wasn’t in any mood to appreciate it as he circulated both techniques at full force.

While Morgana was given a choice to opt out of harder training by this witch, Raiden wasn’t given a choice at all! He had to do this training no matter what, a bonus perk of winning the competition. If Raiden knew he had to suffer this much, he wouldn’t have won at all; second place was just as good.

But it was too late for regrets.

Sizzz~!

"Fuck!!" Raiden swore out loud as the fire caught up to him from behind, burning his feet and a little bit of his backside, leaving his body riddled with burns.

Gritting his teeth, he did his best to use the Intermediate Meditation Mantra and Intermediate Physical Technique together.

Under the compression of gravity, the psychological pressure of being burnt alive and using training methods, paired with that little jelly-like food he ate moments ago, Raiden felt his body becoming stronger at a noticeable pace.

He found himself closing the gap with Morgana, who was walking 50 steps ahead of him. In just 15 minutes, he had closed this gap from 52 steps to just 50. It was a small improvement, but an improvement nonetheless.

Much further inside the room, Woolie and Cinder were similarly training under Lily. Or getting tortured.

BOOM!!

Another explosion echoed out in the room as Woolie found himself blown away from his spot once again, blood all over his body.

Bang!

He hit the floor with a bang, leaving a small crack on the floor.

"Awoon~" How about it, little one? Are you ready to give up yet?

Hearing the words, a stubborn pride lit up once more inside Woolie, as he struggled to stand up once again on the spot.

"Woolie!!" Give up?! The one who can make Emperor Woolie give up isn’t born yet!! Last chance, you overgrown deer! Submit to Emperor Woolie, and I can take you under my protection! ( •̀ ω •́ )!

(He automatically excluded Ruby cos she doesn’t count.)

Lily instantly felt amused hearing the grand talks of this little Terra Beast.

With just a motion gesture, she used her powers once again, as a gigantic 50-meter fire tree started growing from the spot where Woolie was standing.

Feeling the tremors from beneath the ground, Woolie instantly covered his body in thunder and started running towards the overgrown deer.

Behind him, the tree germinated from the ground, and started growing to its peak, its lush crown covering everything in nearby 300 meters.

As soon as it reached maturity, fiery red leaves started drifting down the crown, covering everything in its wake.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

They started exploding in a fabulous fashion as soon as they hit the ground, like a firestorm that had just swept through the place.

Woolie started zigzagging and dodging the fire leaves, flaring and slowing down when he got hit, but he didn’t give up, inching closer and closer to Lily.

Just as he reached Lily, he found himself facing a small fireball, the size of a tennis ball, directly in front of his face.

BOOM!!!

Woolie found himself blown back once more, as he created another crack into the ground upon landing.

"Awoon~" Are you ready to give up yet? Lily asked.

"Woolie!" You wish!! Just wait, Emperor Woolie will win this time!

BOOM!!!

"Woolie!" Again!

BOOM!!!

"Woolie!!" Again!!

BOOM!!!

"WOOLIE!!!" AGAIN!!!
