I Made a Game Featuring Constellations-Chapter 99
"Damn it!"
Burner’s voice echoed in the depths of his mindscape, a desperate cry trapped within his own consciousness, unable to reach the outside world.
Corruption? Now of all times?
They had been so close. To succumb to Beidos's corruption now was beyond infuriating.
He hadn’t even realized it. The remnants of the dark dragon’s corruption were buried deep within his body, a fragment left behind from his mother’s own descent into madness. In hindsight, it should have been obvious. His failure to consider that possibility was his greatest mistake.
"Yonyong... you said you'd stay with me," Latis's voice broke through his inner turmoil.
Through his body's eyes, Burner could see Latis, beaten and broken, standing before him. The pain in her expression tore at him.
He had promised to stay with her. To go wherever she went. To be her unwavering support. And yet here he was, mindlessly attacking her under Beidos’s influence. He was nothing but a failure.
Burner tried everything he could. He drew on the powers of heroes, tapped into his innate dragon strength, but no matter what he did, he couldn’t escape the mental prison or wrest back control of his body. All he could do was watch in helpless despair.
"I'm sorry, Latis..."
"Yonyong!"
Her voice was filled with desperation, and it made his heart ache. He wanted to tell her he was sorry, that he couldn’t make it out. That he might not be able to keep his promise to stay with her until the end.
But it was okay. He had accepted it.
If this was the end for him, he could live with that. Latis’s life and her cause were far more important than anything else. If his death meant she could defeat Beidos and fulfill her mission, he would gladly pay that price.
“Kill me, Latis,” he thought. “End me and defeat the dark dragon.”
But Latis’s actions defied his expectations.
“...This is my fault,” she murmured, her face filled with resignation.
“Atonement... I need to atone.”
Instead of defending herself, she lowered her sword, leaving herself completely vulnerable to his attack. She stood still, waiting for death.
“Latis!” Burner’s heart sank.
No. No, this couldn’t be happening. She couldn’t give up now. What the hell was she doing?
If she stayed still, she would die.
And then, something inexplicable happened. Something beyond comprehension.
The massive claw descending toward Latis was stopped mid-air.
BOOM!
A radiant white barrier shimmered, blocking the fatal blow.
“...What?” Latis opened her eyes, startled when death didn’t come. Her gaze locked onto a small, white dragon hovering in front of her, no bigger than a puppy.
“Yonyong?” she stammered.
“Yeah, it’s me! Have you lost your mind?” the tiny dragon shouted in frustration.
“But... how?”
Turning her eyes forward, she saw the massive, corrupted dragon still pounding at the barrier. It tilted its head, confused by the sudden obstacle.
“There are two of you?” she asked, still bewildered.
“That thing is just my corrupted shell. I don’t know how, but my soul broke free, and now I’m out here.”
Burner, too, had no idea how this miracle had occurred. All he knew was that he was free from his corrupted body, existing now as a pure spirit dragon.
“I don’t really get it either,” Latis said, gripping her sword tightly once more. “But you’re back, right?”
“Yeah. I promised, didn’t I? I’ll stay with you until the end.”
An intense aura erupted from Latis as she regained her fighting spirit.
“Thank you, Yonyong.”
Her despair was gone. In its place was unshakable resolve.
“But if we kill that thing, won’t you lose your body?” she asked, glancing between Burner’s spirit form and his corrupted shell.
“That’s fine. That body is already corrupted by Beidos. I couldn’t go back to it even if I wanted to.”
“I don’t like that,” she replied, frowning. Her gaze flickered between him and his shell again. “But maybe this version of you is cuter.”
“Now’s not the time for that!” Burner exclaimed.
BOOM! BOOM!
The corrupted dragon, enraged, slammed against the barrier, its massive claws shaking the ground.
“Yonyong, you’ll lose your body if we kill it.”
“I don’t need it,” Burner said firmly. “I don’t care what form I take. I’ll always stay with you.”
“Yonyong...” Latis’s eyes softened as she looked at him.
Their gazes met, and in that moment, they were surrounded by a blinding light.
“Ugh, what is this?” Latis shielded her eyes, but when the light subsided, she could feel it—Burner’s presence, his warmth, inside her. Their souls had fused.
“Yonyong... you’re inside me now!” she exclaimed.

“Yeah, I noticed,” Burner replied, his voice emanating from within her. “But don’t make it sound weird.”
“What are you thinking, you pervert?” she teased.
“Hey!” Burner protested.
The union of dragon and human—an impossible bond that had existed only once in mythology—had now become reality.
Latis’s armor, once a deep violet, had turned pure white, and large, ethereal wings unfolded from her back.
“Yonyong! Wings!” Latis cried in awe.
“Focus!” Burner urged.
Their combined strength propelled them into the air. Moving as one, they soared higher, their shared determination guiding their every movement.
“ROOOAR!”
The newly reborn Dragon Knight descended upon the corrupted dragon, piercing it with a blinding light of purification. The monstrous shell disintegrated into ashes, leaving nothing behind.
Only Beidos remained.
[No... no! This can’t be! A Dragon Knight?!]
Beidos’s voice trembled with shock. The sight before him was all too familiar—an echo of the mythological figures who had once stood against gods.
This was a power he couldn’t contend with in his current state.
[If you spare me... I’ll give you whatever you desire! Anything! Just let me live!]
Desperation seeped into his voice as he groveled for his life.
“Yonyong,” Latis called softly.
“Yeah,” Burner replied from within.
There was no way they would let him live.

Burner stood at the center of the Pantheon, surrounded by twelve grand statues.
“You seemed to enjoy this story quite a bit,” said Queen Thystina, greeting him as always.
It was only then that Burner realized Latis’s story had come to an end.
There was a pang of regret.
He had promised to stay with her until the very end.
...But perhaps this counted. After all, the story was over, and he had been there every step of the way.
Still, he couldn’t help but wonder what happened afterward.
The dark dragon had been defeated.
Without Beidos’s influence, his empire would undoubtedly collapse.
But what would happen next?
What events unfolded that led Latis to ascend and become a Constellation?
And what about Burner himself, now a dragon without a body? Had they managed to live peacefully together?
Burner turned to Thystina.
A faint smile tugged at her lips—an expression unusual for her normally stoic demeanor.
It struck him as odd. She rarely showed emotion, so why now? Was she amused by his story?
...Wait.
A thought flashed through his mind.
[How dare... how dare a lowly mortal...! Night Queen! How dare you...!!!]
The dark dragon’s furious roar during the final battle, when his domain had crumbled. He had mentioned the name “Night Queen” in his desperate cry.
Queen.
Thystina.
Was it a coincidence?
Thystina was one of the twelve gods represented by the statues in the Pantheon.
If she, too, had ties to Beidos and had been involved in his defeat, it was entirely possible she had been the one to shatter his domain.
“Why are you staring at me like that?” Thystina asked, breaking his train of thought.
“It’s nothing,” Burner replied, shrugging before turning away.
He was exhausted.
Even though only a day had passed in the real world thanks to the game’s time acceleration, he had spent an entire year immersed in the story. The strain of experiencing such an extended period weighed on him.
Maybe it was time to log off and get some rest.
Just a little nap.
***
In a dragon's lair on the continent...
"Burner... are you asleep?"
A fully grown dragon quietly opened the door to his son’s room.
Shhhh... Shhhh...
Seeing Burner soundly asleep, he gently closed the door again and stepped away.
“...This isn’t good. Tonight’s dangerous,” he muttered to himself as he returned to the main chamber. Anxiety overtook him, and he began biting his claws nervously.
Should he wake him?
No... no matter what, using his own child as a shield wasn’t something he could bring himself to do.
Yet as time ticked by, his trembling grew worse.
Fine.
He had no other choice.
He would wake him.
"I’m sorry, son," the dragon muttered as he stood, resigned. "Your dad has to survive first, doesn’t he?"
But before he could act—
WOOOOOM.
A divine aura began gathering beside him.
It condensed, coalescing into the form of a human figure.
“Ta-da! It’s your loving wife, here to save the day!”
From the celestial light, a middle-aged woman emerged, beaming with enthusiasm.
“Ah, you’re here... dear,” the dragon greeted her with a strained smile.
“How have you been, my beloved?” she asked, immediately rushing over and embracing him tightly.
“N-not great, honestly. Life without you has been... miserable.”
“I’m sorry, darling! Work up in the heavens has been so hectic. I wanted to be by your side, but I couldn’t keep the promise I made to stay with you to the end,” she said, guilt heavy in her voice.
“No, no, it’s fine,” the dragon stammered. "Sure, spending time with you is... wonderful, but really, it’s fine."
“Well, then! Let’s make up for it tonight!”
“Make... up for it?”
“Yes! Let’s let loose after all the time we’ve been apart!”
"L-let loose?"
"Burner’s asleep, right?"
"Y-yes, he is, but! I mean, tonight isn’t—"
“Enough talking! Come here, my little dragon!”
“W-wait, hold on! Dear! Give me a moment! Dear—ARRRGH!”
The anguished cries of the male dragon echoed throughout the lair, but they didn’t reach Burner, who remained deeply asleep.
“Mmm... mmmph... zzz...”
Clutching his pillow tightly, Burner murmured softly in his dreams.
In his dream, he was setting off on a new adventure with the Dragon Knight.
