Chapter 16: The Epic Fight

The wind that blew toward Axel's face felt unreal. It was a gust of wind, precisely from the monster falling on the building. The action, actually, created a sort of force—a wind that ravaged through the air and zoomed in his direction.

The hero's eyes were ablaze now, not with fire but with an electric current. His presence now was dangerous. Axel thought that he was in full force. The monster was struggling to get up. Axel was thinking that it was time for the hero to capitalize and deliver a punch or something to the monster's face.

To Axel's surprise, the hero did just the opposite. He paused and stared at the monster, slowly getting up.

"Won't you punch it?" Axel shouted at the hero. To him that felt like the next thing to do in that situation.

The hero slowly turned to him and said subtly, "Don't teach me my job."

The monster was on its feet now. The hero clenched his fists, and as he did so, the gloves he was wearing sparked.

WHOOSH!

The monster came at him.

The hero only held his breath and stared fixedly at the monster, who leaped now.

Axel watched it do so, and without even looking like he would take the motion, he swerved to the left.

The monster, its hands wide, seemingly hoping to grab the hero and tear him to pieces, grabbed nothing.

The hero's frown deepened, and he stared at Axel for a split second before looking at the monster again. Axel swallowed a hard lump of saliva down his throat. It seemed like he did so unconsciously because he had intended to spit it out. The hero's stare made him swallow it instead. The stare, to him, was damn hard-looking.

And then, in a low voice, the hero said to Axel, "Watch me do it my own way."

Axel inhaled, and in doing so, held his breath. He was now braced for what was about to happen. It seemed like he was grabbing a large cup full of popcorn and preparing to see a movie.

The monster was midair. The hero was beside it. The monster was about to fall when the hero held it by its leg in a very brisk manner and threw it into the sky.

The monster flew upwards, not in control but instead being controlled by the force that came with the throw. The situation seemed like a rocket being launched into space—only that the monster was the rocket, and Axel was the launcher who had launched it.

THOOOM!

The monster tore through the semi-texture of the wind. It was like a car failing its brakes in the skies.

Axel released his breath now. This was damn scenic.

The hero plunged into the air, his fists still clenched, as if the force had propelled him into the sky.

Axel had to fly up a bit to get a better view of the fight. But he did so with caution, staying as far away from the battle scene as possible while still being able to see clearly.

Axel heard the monster make a grunting sound. He squinted his eyes more at the hero, who was now holding the monster by its legs in a rough manner. The next thing, he had thrown the monster toward the sky.

Again!

Axel saw the beast disappear into a cloud.

The hero didn't make a move. He just paused, still in the air, arms folded, waiting for the monster to fall.

A loud hissing sound—a windy version, actually.

And...

ZHOOM!

The monster was in sight now, falling.

The hero didn't move; he only watched the monster fall.

Axel was about to tell him to do something but stopped, quickly remembering the response the hero had given when he had earlier tried to speak. So he only watched the hero, who was now watching the monster, who was now falling with such celerity.

Watching the monster fall and shout:

"Ooooo!"

Axel wondered why it couldn't steady itself, resume flying, and attack the hero.

It was then Axel realized that this hero's gloves were exceptional. They seemed, quite apparently, to be his source of power.

And so, when the hero had thrown the monster, Axel, with his scientific mind, realized that perhaps the gloves had some magnetic field surrounding them, and it submerged (he didn't know if this was possible) the air. Nothing much, probably a tiny submerging, making the monster unable to move, as there was a certain magnetic field around him.

The monster was close to the ground now. It was going to hit the ground.

That was where the hero came in!

WHOOSH!

Updated from freewёbnoνel.com.

He rushed at the monster.

Axel, his eyes almost teary from the scene, felt the sight was preternatural.

For the first time in his life, he was witnessing what, to him, was an epic fight. It was so epic it felt mesmerizing. Like Axel was in space. With each punch and each throw, he saw galaxies shattering.

Planets exploding. The earth rotating faster. The sun burning his eyes, draining every drop of blood in his goddamn body.

The feeling was sensational—nothing like he had ever experienced before. He felt like a child again. He felt like he was watching his childhood heroes fighting. It felt like...

The hero thrust his left foot into the monster's chest. That ought to do it, but it didn't, at least not to the hero.

Spontaneously, as if he were kicking and punching at the same time, he also delivered a punch—heavy and thick—into the monster's midsection.

The monster plunged into the ground, making a hole in it. A last:

"Ah!"

Escaped from its mouth.

It was dead. Another soul for death, successfully taken.

Axel was flying down now, his hands in the air, his mouth saying,

"Absolute cinema."

But the hero paid no attention. He seemed to have noticed something when he punched the monster. So he flew into the small hole and, examining the monster's body, saw a symbol.

It was a tattoo, actually—a tattoo symbol.
