I Reawakened as an Inferno Hero-Chapter 17: First Mystery

The hero, with a surprising amount of strength, lifted the dead monster out of the hole it was in. He dropped it roughly beside the hole and examined the tattoo, which was a symbol, Axel now nearing him.

The symbol, or tattoo—anyhow you may put it—was an art of three spaceships flying in what symbolized the sky, or space?

Yes, space.

Axel furrowed his eyebrows greatly, trying to fathom the symbol.

A figure, robust-looking, was on top of the spaceships. Its body wasn't showing, and Axel and the hero could only see its face and down to its waist. Its hands were up in the air, and on top of it were the words:

"ROYSTED ETH DLROW."

It was written stylishly, making it almost invisible at that point. But with a great deal of squinting, they could see it.

Axel stared at the hero.

"Hero man," he began. "What does this mean?"

The hero smiled and gazed almost jeeringly at Axel.

"My name isn't Hero Man. Call me Electro Sonic Fists."

Axel's eyes widened.

'So that is your name. I see, suits you, apparently.'

Axel quickly came back from thinking.

"Okay, Electro Sonic Fists!" Axel said. He used a great amount of force to pronounce Electro Sonic Fists, which slightly irked the hero.

"What does this symbol mean?" Axel continued.

"It seems it's a message," Electro Sonic Fists said. "It appears to be cryptic, but don't worry, I'll scan the meaning now."

Electro Sonic Fists squinted his eyes and then, with a swift motion, used one of his gloved hands to cover the symbol. Doing so, the gloves, like picking up energy, radiated and sparked.

Electro Sonic Fists closed his eyes and inhaled. He exhaled, and then his eyes were wide open now, like he had just seen something.

Axel stared at him, bemused.

"What?" he asked.

Electro Sonic Fists didn't answer immediately. Instead, he squinted his eyes and stood up.

"It's a reshuffle," he finally ejaculated.

Axel was astonished.

"Shuffle?"

The hero coughed.

"Apparently."

Electro Sonic Fists moved a bit from the scene, his hands behind his back. He quickly turned to look Axel in the eyes.

"ROYSTED ETH DLROW" is a reshuffle of the words "DESTROY THE WORLD."

Axel was stunned by that. He had to say:

"Oh!"

"You see, it wasn't obvious at first. It was rearranged quite professionally. The only place I think failed a bit was DLROW, which, with the tilt of your head sideways, you will obviously know is WORLD. Nonetheless, it's great stuff. But the question is, what is the motive behind this, and who wants to destroy the world?"

Axel shrugged.

"I dunno?"

Electro Sonic Fists used his hand to hit his forehead, accompanying the act with a sigh.

"You're just a kid," he paused and then sighed again. "I honestly don't know why I was discussing delicate matters like this with you."

Axel felt abashed by the words.

"No, no, I'm almost an adult. At least, I will be by November."

Electro Sonic Fists sighed again and resumed talking. Now, it seemed like he was talking to himself.

"So there is a mastermind behind these monsters coming out of portals, and perhaps villains? Someone definitely is behind all this, and his or her or... its plan is to destroy the world?"

Axel stared at the lifeless monster, not knowing what to make of the symbol. The thing was, when he had been chosen to save the world, he had found it almost impossible. Impossible in the sense that stopping the portal wouldn't be something he could easily achieve, noting that it ought to involve some strategic stuff and all.

He remembered the Voice telling him that it had summoned a group of superheroes who would train him and all, but he hadn't put it to heart. He had even forgotten about it, and now, seeing this superhero come to his rescue, it was exhilarating!

Electro Sonic Fists paced around the place, his hands behind his back, thinking. Staring at him, Axel wondered what he was thinking. He couldn't guess it by the hero's appearance, though. Electro Sonic Fists' expression was stern, and he looked like he was calculating something—all in his mind.

Soon, to Axel, it happened unexpectedly. Electro Sonic Fists' left hand was by his ear, and now he was saying:

"I have the new superhero. Uhh... a teenager, acting almost daft and stuff. You know how teenagers behave. He seems fine. At least if he's from the Voice, then it's all good."

Axel squinted his eyes as he stared at the man in front of him. He felt embarrassed by the remarks about him, but with a shrug, he realized he could do nothing.

"We'll be heading to Superpolis now," the hero said to Axel.

Axel nodded promptly. "Okay, Electro Sonic Fists!"

That seemed to irk the hero because now he sighed and looked at the sky.

"See," he began. "Enough with this. Call me Dan."

Axel almost chuckled. It was a close call, but he was able to put it in just in time.

"Dan! Right! Now that is easier on the mouth."

Dan smiled and said:

"I'll try to conjure a portal. The process isn't that easy, so you have to be fast, got it?"

Axel nodded in the affirmative. "Yes, sir."

Dan looked at the sky and twisted his neck sideways. The motion was like a prep, him being ready to...

He plunged into the sky!

Even startling Axel, who was almost bewildered.

Dan rotated like a windmill—only that he was faster.

"Get ready, mate. When I conjure the portal, you must have super speed in flight because I need you to plunge into the portal," said Dan. "With full force!"

Axel nodded in the affirmative, and Electro Sonic Fists (Dan) went to work. He spun with the similitude of a ceiling fan—one put at a very high speed, that is.

He swung his right hand forward and...

WHOOOSH!

"Now!" Dan shouted.

Axel was about to do as told when...

Looking sideways, he saw Corusca (Patrick, his best friend!) conjuring a portal and a familiar figure beside him, the two ready to enter into the portal.

But who was the figure?

It was Dust!
