I Reawakened as an Inferno Hero-Chapter 68: Monseryan Monster: Skyrender [2]

That’s it!

Enough of this nonsense!

The monster, who was now slowly walking over to finish Chrysa, paused and stared at Axel like he was some crab or a shrimp.

"How bold of you," the monster said, his voice laced with a touch of menace.

"You think I can’t just call the Monseryan king that I’ve found you," he paused and inhaled the air very sharply.

The sound coming from the act he just did sounded like the cut of flesh.

Axel moved a fraction forward, his flames burning more intensely.

In this fight, he would have to be a daredevil, as that was the only way he would beat the opponent facing him.

He would have to use wits, brain...

...all of those stuff. He would use them.

But then, he would have to go extreme.

He would have to cease being a superhero at this point. He would have to leave being good.

The words:

Kindness

Good

Remorse

[He would show no remorse]

He would be brutal.

Go bound for bound, breath for breath, teeth for teeth.

Eyeball for Eyeball.

Kidney for kidney

Lungs for lungs

[Sorry for being gross there]

If there was one thing Axel had learnt since being a superhero was—

Be brutal!

Not with citizens or your friends or anybody else.

Be brutal to villains.

At first he had wanted to behave like a normal superhero, let the bad guys go. Then, they come back again, defeat them and then, let them go again.

Bullshit!

Since he became a superhero, he had not faced any normal superhero. No one was normal at all. The only normal villain he had fought was his former best friend, Patrick (Corusca), and he had let him go, told him to change.

But—

Bullshit!

The son of a b*tch did not change at all. And now, him and Dust were out, loose in Khaos Realm, causing havoc and Khaos and he would be the one to stop them later on.

Well, he wouldn’t be ruthless in taking the lives of human villains though, as that was just brutality for no reason. He would instead hand them over to the right authorities.

But as for monster villains, well, he didn’t give a f**k about them, he would be killing them all, he would show no mercy whatsoever as they don’t deserve it.

The monster continued speaking now, and Axel concluded that he wore likeness with one of those villains he usually watched in movies.

You know, taking their time and boasting. He wasn’t here for that shit but if that would keep the villain going then well, it should give him time to think of a way to defeat it.

The main thing he needed to know above all things was its weakness. But right now, that seemed to be impossible.

Nonetheless, he could only hope.

"I mean," the villain said. "When ’he’ came saying he brought a valuable information, I thought he was kidding because after all these years, I thought he had joined your side. I thought he was no longer part of us, now a good guy." He paused and stared at Axel, his mouth a grim line.

"You see, don’t try, because if you do and then fail. It’ll be very painful and it’ll be like all your efforts is in vain."

"The thing you superheroes need to know is that you guys have to set aside that cliché mentality of always winning. The world has changed. It’s no longer as you know it. Superheroes now aren’t born to win, they are born to die, die trying to save the day."

Superheroes now aren’t born to win, they are born to die.

’Deep’

"I would have called the others and tell them your location and when our king snaps his fingers, it’ll be all over and you will be dead."

Axel cogitated on what he had said.

"Then not do it," he ejaculated. "Why not do what you were sent to do. Why not just alert them and end it all. Why do you want to fight!"

The monster smiled and shook its head, rolling his eyes backwards a bit.

"The thing is, it’s been long humans visited here and if I just call them without killing you first, they’ll absorb your power shard and essence, leaving me with nothing."

"So—" Axel urged him to continue.

The villain grinned and said:

"You guys may not know but any time we Monseryan monsters kill a superhero, we gain something we call power shard and essence, which helps us level up, which increases our ranks toward immortality. And so, I have to gain it before I take your heads to the Monseryan king."

Axel stared at him. Not impressed at all. He had heard stuff like Shards and essence, he thought of them as XPs, at least that was what he learnt in the few novelkisss he had read.

The more you acquire, the more you level up and stuff like that.

He found it interesting, at least he had a system that required hero points for him to level up. Perhaps Chrysa would have, he didn’t know.

With the way the villain behaved, Axel found him self-centered and selfish and quite frankly, he liked it. At least it was the reason they were still alive.

Because as it seemed, just a simple flick of the switch could end it and perhaps he and Chrysa would be dead by now.

But there was hope, and it all lay in what the villain would do.

The Skyrender Monster smirked and without warning dashed towards Axel who was braced for an attack.

The monster threw punches at him but he dodged every single one of them, but then, he didn’t dodge a hammer-laced one that drove into his belly, making him slump on the ground, puking even.

"Time to die, superhero!" the Monster said, his tone menacing. He raised his hands up and put it down.

Axel had expected to be sliced through by the axe but when he looked up and saw that nothing happened, he suddenly stood up and then saw to his surprise that the axe wasn’t in the monster’s hand.

The monster looked around, screaming:

"Where’s my Axe!"

A hand tapped him by the back and when he looked, it was Chrysa holding his Axe.

He made to collect it but then, Chrysa, being too swift, dodged the hand gesture and quickly threw the Axe to Axel who was on his feet.

Axel caught it and rolled it over his head, the seething pain suddenly gone.

Chrysa now ran over to Axel’s side and said to him:

"Let’s kill this villain together."

’Kill’ — Strong word.

"The Axe is his weakness."
