I reincarnated as an elf .......and married the yandere villainess.-Chapter 31:attack
Past the forest line, the forest was as ominous as it looked. Most of the light had been blocked, and what was left was a dim forest of twisting trees that would sometimes appear to be moving monsters.
Atheline stilled, his instincts sharpening as he glanced around before he stepped forward going deeper into the forest.
He was familiar with the routes but the beasts were extremely unpredictable and rarely stayed in one place.
The chance of encountering the same beast again was near impossible.
The wind brushed past him, tickling him as he moved deeper into the quiet forest.
Then,
A branch cracked behind him, and he turned around instantly, bow raised and arrows already nocked, but nothing.
"You ain’t fooling me," he murmured to himself.
He added two more arrows to the bow and pulled the string back ready to shoot, but he didn’t release them.
He continued towards the leaves under him crushing softly as he moved signaling his location.
He tilted his head slightly listening.
Then, a low growl rolled from behind the trees.
’There you are’
From between the trunks they emerged one by one, more following behind the others.
Ironfang direwolves.
They spread out as they advanced silently despite their large size, three times that of a normal wolf. Their dark eyes were on him unblinking as they studied him with an intelligence that shouldn’t be normal.
Atheline took a deep breath as soft winds gathered around him, covering his arrows.
The wolves shifted. One circled wider while another lowered its body, ready to spring.
’Ten, maybe even more’
Killian’s gaze sharpened then he moved.
THWIP!
All the arrows were released with a sharp crack, wind spiralling around them accelerating the speed of the arrows.
They struck the two lead wolves clean through their shoulders sending them sprawling back with a yelp that turned into a snarl mid-fall.
The last arrow zipped through the crowd and hit one of the emerging wolves in the neck killing it directly.
The pack reacted instantly.
Two lunged from the front, one from each side. Atheline stepped forward meeting the oncoming canines arrows already drawn and shooting out of the bow.
It caught one mid-air.
He dropped as two flew over him. He sent a blast of wind throwing one away and rolled to the side.
Claws raked his side, cutting through his robes.
’Careless’
Atheline didn’t dwell on that. He shifted his stand, the wind around him becoming more violent as it circled him.
"Come then."
The wolves didn’t hesitate this time. They attacked together.
Atheline took a deep breath and the wind answered his call. Wind burst outward from him, in a tight arc breaking through the wolves’ formation.
That was all he needed.
He shot in rapid succession.
One arrow.
Then another.
And another.
Each shot precisely hits its target. The wolves fell, one after another but more joined the fray with each death.
One managed to escape his vision and lunged, too close for him to use the bow.
Killian dropped and drew his dagger. With a powerful flash, the wolf’s head dropped before it could hit the ground.
The remaining wolves hesitated but Atheline didn’t give them a chance.
He reclaimed his bow and drew.
Then released.
The last two fled but one didn’t make it two steps before it fell.
The forest fell silent.
Atheline stood there his breath a tad bit erratic as he scanned around.
His senses followed the escaped wolf until it disappeared before a smile graced his face.
"That was it, let’s get moving."

Elsewhere in the forest.
Caius had accidentally separated from the other soldiers when they got attacked by a group of large fire ants.
His hands shook as he walked forward without any sense of direction. This had been his first time entering the forest and he didn’t even know how to proceed.
Words from his teachings at the academy echoed in his mind as he silently moved through the forest.
’Quiet, quiet, alert and quiet.’
Then, a roar followed by thunderous footsteps broke the forest silence.
He grasped his sword in both hands as Aether started to circulate in his body.
The sword started to glow white as the light aether merged into the weapon.
He positioned his body facing the direction of the sound and pointed forward.
A gravevine boar burst out of the undergrowth like a massive unstoppable rolling rock, its long tusks tearing through trees like they were nothing.
Caius gulped.
’Too big’
The boar charged. Caius moved his sword raised. The sword hit its head before Caius hurriedly jumped back and rolled out of its way.
No damage.
It hit the tree behind him before turning around to look at him.
It charged again.
Caius struck but didn’t hurt it.
"What am I doing wrong?" He muttered to himself as he evaded again.
He had gotten really good at that in the time span.
"The under belly," a female voice said from behind him.
Caius reacted on instinct and swung his sword around. It didn’t hit its target but Caius was left confused by the woman standing behind him.
"Saintess?"

In the dark elf kingdom.
Lilith was looking around her new room face serious but inwardly she had a smile.
"Is this to your liking your majesty?" The architect beside her asked her.
Lilith nodded her gaze moving to the sunlight flowing from the newly crafted sunroof. It had been crafted by curving out part of the mountain to allow sunlight in directly on the bed.
"Yes, this should be enough for him."
The room around her was almost a replica of Atheline’s room in the elven kingdom, even the small nick in the corner was present where Atheline had scratched when he was little.
"Is this really necessary your majesty?" Her advisor, Zelpher asked with his eyes barely hiding his horror.
Lilith smiled softly.
"Of course, I have to make him feel at home. Only six days to go and he will make this room bloom. The motions have already been set to prepare him."
’I’m the only one who understands him the most’
She chuckled softly. This caused the two next to her to step back.
