I Was a Loner, but My Class Got Summoned to Another World…-Chapter 321: Measure of Strength
Logan saw how the leader rushed forward and how Inox cowered a little. It must have been from years of being looked down on.
The boy, who had always been treated that way himself, wanted to see the result. He hoped it would go just like he envisioned—that his creature would rise and change the status quo.
As soon as the leader got closer, he stopped and circled around, as if probing one of his tribe member who had changed. The leader knew this adolescent. He was one of the outer-circle males that kept to himself. The marks on his body were the same. The leader prided himself on knowing his tribe and all those who might pose a danger to it.
Logan, from the side, saw how they spoke to each other, but it seemed to lead to a fight.
The male leader began to get aggressive with his stance. He began stomping more, as if to challenge Inox—who stood his ground.
Then all hell broke loose between the two.
One kick was directed toward Inox with clear intent. He didn't take this well. Using his arm, he blocked it and began fighting back.
Logan wondered if they would use skills and how different the result would be if they did. He wanted to understand one thing he'd always asked himself.
The boy wanted to know just how much his creatures changed after evolution, and if they use skills sparingly before they evolved, what was the difference between a normal creature which was not tamed and his own.
Sensing that the battle was going to go from basic attacks to skills Logan focus his attention.
He knew Inox was not going to kill the leader of his clan, but he felt his creature wanted to prove himself.
He began enveloping himself in light elemental energy. Logan guessed by his stance that Inox was charging Sanctuary Rush, a technique that required building mana around the body before launching forward.
The leader did the same. But his aura was thinner, less focused. The light mana in the area clearly favored Inox, who gathered it with ease, his glow intensifying.
Then both beasts charged.
They didn't use Lance of Light—a powerful offensive move. Instead, they summoned radiant shields, preparing to clash not with killing intent, but sheer force of will and mana.
Logan huffed. "Like two rams locking horns…"
The two Equidae, both with humanoid upper halves, collided mid-charge. Their shields met in a flash—an explosion of light burst outward, like a detonation of fireworks.
Yet nothing burned. No trees fell. Only a warm wind swept across the clearing.
When the light faded, the two figures stood two meters apart.
Only one shield remained.
Inox stood firm.
The leader had been pushed back, hooves dragging across the dirt. Logan smiled faintly as his tamed creature held the line, unwavering.
The leader grunted, condensed magic into his hoof, and turned to stomp on the lingering light shield.
It held—for a moment—then shattered with a crack of radiant energy.
Inox didn't flinch. And the leader didn't press further.
Instead, he nodded once, then asked something in their native tongue.
Logan, watching from above, sat cross-legged on a branch, wondering if the fight had truly settled things. Both centaurs stood tall—silent but respectful—before the leader turned and began walking toward the trees where Logan and Lucent hid.
Not wanting to ruin whatever peace Inox had achieved, Logan prepared to descend carefully. He didn't want to spook the tribal head. One wrong move could create problems and make a mess out of everything.
He aimed below and used Kage Aruki, his shadow step skill, to land softly near the roots of the tree.
Inox approached first, subtly motioning toward Lucent. He exaggerated his posture, mimicking jaws with his arms to warn the elder about the tiger's presence.
Then Logan appeared.
He raised a brow. [What are you two so busy talking about?]
Inox stopped a few meters away and made it clear the leader wouldn't step any closer—likely for caution.
[This is our leader. Father of most, protector of all,] Inox said, glancing at the older centaur beside him. [He says… he wishes for the same power you gave me.]
Logan tilted his head slightly.
[In exchange, he'll have the clan help you find the horned one.]
The centaur leader stood still, gazing at Logan with a calm yet sizing stare.
[Tell me, Inox... what if I made you the leader instead?] Logan asked, tossing the idea out casually.
But Inox immediately shook his head.
[Not fit. Troublesome duty.]
Logan smirked. "Yeah… it is annoying. But you know my power's unique. If I start giving it out freely, it's bound to cause problems."
He glanced at the elder centaur still standing silently nearby.
"What exactly does your leader plan to do with that power?"
Tired of keeping the conversation mental, Logan spoke aloud.
Inox paused, then turned to the leader, sharing the question in their tongue.
After a brief exchange, Inox relayed the answer.
[He wants to protect this land. He's seen blue-skins nearby—demons. They killed some of the clan's guards before retreating. Leader was powerless to stop them.]
Logan's expression hardened.
Demon scouts, he thought. They're testing the edges—checking how close they can get to the Light Temple.
And soon, they'd return in force most likely.
"Tell him that I can," Logan said, voice calm but resolute. "But I'll only strengthen him. The rest will have to wait."
He didn't have the mana to spare for monarch blessings—not after what had happened in the volcano. Until he leveled up again, this would be limited.
The leader nodded, seemingly understanding the problem. Logan approached, pressing his thumb to the centaur's shoulder—just beneath where he'd placed Inox's mark.
Then he readied the crystals the leader would need to evolve.
Logan handed over the same number of light elemental crystals he'd given Inox. The elder accepted them in silence, absorbing their mana until his form began to glow.
Light surged around him, his body shifting and refining. As he evolved, Logan caught Inox's glance—his eyes flicked toward the crystals, unmistakably envious.
"Here," Logan muttered, tossing him two crystals with a sigh, the tame had completed his task correctly and deserved them.
Satisfied, he turned back to the elder and crossed his arms.
"Hey there," he said as the light faded and the transformation completed. "Guess you'll need to uphold your end of the deal now, right?"
The centaur leader flexed his new limbs, his gaze steady.
[No problems. Thank you for accepting my request. We'll spread out... and find it.]
