Lillian stared at the bowing Marionette, staring at her long black hair that seemed to devour the light of the corridor hungrily.

She stared awkwardly at her before saying:

"It’s fine... I didn’t particularly mind... as long as you weren’t doing it for something weird." Lillian rubbed the side of her arm with a shy look. (5)

Marionette straightened herself, nodding, "I see... I’ll keep a mental note of that." she said, brushing a lock of hair around her ear.

They then stared at each other. Unmoving. Silence filled the room between them, causing Lillian to feel quite strange under Marionette’s still gaze.

However, she couldn’t help but realise that Marionette was dressed in her uniform as well. Her white shirt hugged her body whilst also subtly outlining certain areas of her chest—areas that were hidden under her black cardigan.

That was when she suddenly realised that Marionette was in front of her room. How did she know it was hers and not some random person? She refused to believe someone who could get easily lost, like Marionette, possibly achieve this task.

"So... how did you find my room?" Lillian asked, watching as Marionette tilted her head to the side with an emotionless expression before raising her hand.

Her index finger then pointed inside Lillian’s room, causing her to look back. "What are you pointing at, Mar—"

When she turned her head back around to question her, she discovered that Marionette had suddenly disappeared. A chill then shot up her spine as hot air was blown into her ear.

Lillian shrieked, turning around whilst covering her ear. She saw Marionette eerily standing behind her, slightly bent down to the height which Lillian’s ear would be. (10)

Marionette straightened herself once again. Lillian watched as her body began to shift to a darker and almost translucent form before sinking into the ground, becoming a dark puddle of darkness before sliding between Lillian’s feet and transforming back outside her door.

"That’s how. If you want anything more specific, just know that it was very time-consuming." She crossed her arms over her chest.

Lillian gulped, "You really checked every single room on this floor?" (10)

"..." Marionette remained silent.

Lillian’s lips stretched into a wry smile, "I’m so glad you’re not a pervert..." She then watched as Marionette’s eyes widened briefly before tilting her head. (2)

"Who’s to say I am not?" Her eyes stared deeply into Lillian.

"Eh?"

Lillian couldn’t tell if she was lying or not. It was extremely difficult when the person she was interacting with put on the same face constantly without change.

"Of course... that would be a joke," Marionette revealed, causing Lillian to breathe a sigh.

She had really thought Marionette was for a second despite knowing a lot about her through the game. ’A lot is a stretch, really...’ she thought, gazing at Marionette.

Marionette was considered one of the keys needed for the world to fall into a chaotic mess. The reason? She didn’t even think the creators knew either.

"I see... was it wise for you to show me such a thing then? Aren’t... assassins really secretive about their identity?"

"Keeping your identity a secret when your family is renowned enough for its "craft" is counterintuitive. And also..." Marionette responded before slowly closing the gap between them, standing just in front of Lillian, staring down at her.

"You’re also the only person in the academy that had seen me use this exact technique. If words get out, I believe I know who to go after..."

Lillian felt a drop of sweat run down her cheek as she trembled under Marionette’s gaze with a nervous smile, "I-I see... I guess the other reason you might have done this is because we’re acquaintances?" (4)

Marionette stoically nodded, pulling herself back away from the trembling Lillian, "I read that trust is better formed when secrets are shared between two individuals."

"... What else did you learn, may I ask?" Lillian tilted her head curiously. (3)

"That physical contact is good for trust as well," Marionette stated in a tone that easily revealed how naive she was on the subject of bonding.

"Is that why you held me by the waist?"

"You pick up quick."

"When you just told me you believe physical contact builds a bond between us, of course, I am going to pick up what you were trying to do yesterday."

"Did it not increase the bond between us?" Marionette then raised her hand to her chin, holding it with a thoughtful expression, "Perhaps I need to think of a different approach."

Lillian sighed, "What was the book called anyway?" she asked.

"It was called The Art of Seduction," Marionette answered in a nonchalant tone. This revelation caused Lillian’s eyes to widen. Her eyes threatened to fall out of their sockets. (2)

"WHY WERE YOU READING SOMETHING LIKE THAT!?"

"I read it for I was told to. Was it wrong to use what I learnt from it?" Marionette’s eyes briefly widened at Lillian’s shocked expression.

Lillian gave an exasperated sigh, "Whatever... are you planning on doing anything later today? Because I actually plan on heading out and buying some groceries."

Marionette silently stared at her before nodding, "I shall have you accompany me for that."

"... You want to go with me?" Lillian asked, causing Marionette to nod once more. She then raised an eye, "Wouldn’t that mean that you are the one accompanying me instead?"

"..."

The two stared at one another for a brief moment. Lillian eventually gave up trying to make sense of the situation and locked her door before wandering down the corridor with Marionette, who followed beside her.

They eventually arrived at the elevator without any trouble. Lillian sneakily snuck a glance at Marionette, checking to see that she had indeed not suddenly disappeared.

Marionette caught her glance and tilted her head at her, "Yes?"

"Nothing..." Lillian pulled away her gaze, pressed the button for the elevator, and waited. After a few minutes, the elevator resounded with a ding, followed by the opening of its metal doors.

However, under Lillian’s eyes, she caught sight of a fast blur shooting towards her the second the doors opened, slamming into her chest and knocking her onto the ground.

"So you’re on the third floor, huh, Lil?!"
