Chapter 112: Just This Once

"Where are you going? The exit’s over here!" Felix called after Kade, but was utterly ignored. Acting as if he couldn’t hear or understand, the Alpha went straight to the bedroom, disappearing behind the bedroom door. Or the bedroom door frame, to be precise, since the room still lacked the door. Since he lived alone (or, well, with Remi, but the fox slept in his bed, so it didn’t quite count), Felix didn’t consider it a priority to install the door.

Felix let out a heavy sigh, closed the front door so as not to let the cold in, and stomped to his bedroom. "If you really have to stay, at least sleep on the floor. Or the couch!" he lectured Kade...

But Kade was already on the bed, and showed no intention of moving.

"Oh, come on!" Felix sighed helplessly. "This is my bed, you can’t sleep here!"

To which Kade buried his head deeper in the sheets, trying to escape the words he didn’t want to hear. However, trying to escape Felix’s nagging, he ended up subjecting himself to a generous dose of the jasmine fragrance that permeated the whole bed...

He immediately pulled back, snorting and scrunching his nose, covering it with his paw in disgust. The sheets smelled like fox! Not just a bit, but as if the fox had been rolling in them all day, every day!

That was absolutely unacceptable. It was supposed to be Felix’s bed, so it should smell like Felix! Not that it didn’t - Felix’s wolfish scent with a hint of his milk chocolate pheromones was still there, but it was so entangled with the fox’s smell that it could hardly be separated. Annoyed, Kade started subtly releasing his sandalwood pheromones to cover it up. He wanted no fox scents in his former-future-mate’s bed!

Naturally, that didn’t escape Felix’s attention. His heart skipped a beat and he scrunched his nose at the same time, as Kade’s pheromones reached his nose. He had to admit that the scent was pleasant, even without the influence of the fated mate bond... frёeweɓηovel_coɱ

But that was not the point. "I’m talking to you!" he snapped. "If you stay here, then when am I supposed to sleep?!"

Kade lifted his eyes and tilted his head, looking back at Felix. Then, he scooted over a bit, and patted the mattress, hinting at the Omega that he should join him.

Felix’s face turned pale. As if he’d ever do that! He has been sleeping with Remi every night, yes, but that was different! With Remi, it all started before Felix found out that the fox was actually a hot witch, and he was still treating him kind of like a ’pet’. By the time they first met, Felix had already gotten used to sharing the bed, and even then he was flustered!

Besides, Remi’s fox form was much, much smaller than Kade in his wolf form, taking far less space on the tiny, narrow bed. Yes, he was still clinging to Felix, so that space meant nothing in the end, but...

Well, either way, there was no way Felix would agree to sleeping together with Kade! He reached out, grabbing the Alpha. "Off you go!" he said, pulling Kade off the bed...

Or attempting to do so. But, it was easier said than done. The task turned out to be much more difficult than he would have expected...

Not because Kade was too heavy. Well, he was massive and heavy, but not so much that Felix wouldn’t be able to handle him, especially when the Alpha was in his wolf form. He was also a werewolf, after all, so despite what his slender frame might suggest, he was very strong. The problem was that Kade wouldn’t just allow himself to be lifted up from the bed... He grabbed onto the sheets, digging his claws into the mattress, wringling and squirming around, not letting Felix get a good hold of him. He stubbornly fought back to defend his place of Felix’s bed...

But Felix was no less stubborn. Just as Kade was determined to stay on the bed, the Omega put all of his efforts into chasing him away. He tugged and pulled, trying to detach the Alpha from the mattress... He didn’t give up even when the struggle caused him to lose his balance, landing on top of Kade. They then started rolling around the bed in their scuffle, neither willing to give up...

Until Felix was finally drained of his strength.

"Fine, I give up," he gasped, letting go of Kade. "You can take the bed. I’ll go sleep on the couch..."

He made the motion to get up, but Kade stopped him, pushing him down with his paw, whining in protest.

"We really shouldn’t sleep together," Felix tried to protest, but the Alpha rolled over, resting half of his body on top of Felix. He pretended to be asleep, and didn’t react or budge an inch, no matter how much the Omega nudged and pushed him.

"...Fine, just for tonight," Felix eventually sighed. "I’ll make an exception, because of your situation. But remember, it’s only a one-time thing! I will never agree to something like that again..." His voice drifted off, as his consciousness started slipping away. He mindlessly lifted his hand, stroking Kade’s black fur... It wasn’t intentional, it was just that he petted Remi that way so often that it was almost automatic at this point...

He didn’t even realize when he rolled to his side, hugging Kade. It was just a natural reaction, since he was used to cuddling with Remi in his sleep. And Kade in his wolf form was so warm and soft... His fur silky smooth... And he smelled so well, with his relaxing, sandalwood pheromones...

Now that he had given in, all the tiredness fully hit him, and he was fast asleep. He didn’t notice that Kade was observing him carefully with his dark eyes. Then, once he had got his fair share of staring, he closed his eyes and buried his nose in Felix’s neck, going to sleep as well, wrapped in the Omega’s embrace. The lights were still on, but Kade didn’t bother getting up to turn them off, afraid to wake Felix up again. Who knew how the Omega would react then, perhaps he’d change his mind, and decide they couldn’t share the bed after all? No, turning the lights off wasn’t worth the risk. Kade didn’t mind paying the electricity bills if Felix complained...

They slept like that for hours, undisturbed. Remi didn’t return, and Vivi was also particularly peaceful that night, sleeping soundly the whole night, and not waking up in the middle to make some noise like she had a habit of frequently doing. It wasn’t until early hours in the morning, before the sunrise, that their peaceful rest was interrupted...
