I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]-Chapter 139: No Safe Place

Agnes stayed in Silverfall for a few more days. She had a lot of catching up to do with her son, she said, and on top of that, she offered to help with brewing the potion for Einar Blackstone. Since she had already betrayed her client, she decided she might as well go all the way to support Remi and Felix in their cooperation with the Bloodmoon Pack. Not to mention, she was a far more experienced witch, and as the original curse caster, she knew how to remedy Einar’s condition better than anyone!

During these few days, Felix stayed mostly at home. It would be too crowded in the workshop if the three of them were to work together, or so Remi claimed, so Felix was temporarily excluded from the potion brewing tasks. He just took care of Vivi and worked on some pottery projects to relax and clear his mind... With the enchanted witch hat still stuck on his head all day and night long, not coming off even for a second. He even started getting used to it, almost forgetting it was even there...

Besides, he had more important things to worry about than some sticky hat or his itchy neck.

The Misty Claw Pack, that is.

After giving it careful consideration, he decided to inform Kade about what they had learned. Whether the Alpha believed it, or what he would do with that information afterwards, that was none of Felix’s concern, as long as he wasn’t dragged into this conflict any more than he already was...

As for what Felix would do with his own life, he wasn’t quite sure yet. He thought about leaving Silverfall... But it was easier said than done. Not because of Vivi - while going on the run with a little pup wasn’t a good idea, simply moving somewhere else would be fine... Except that, where would they go? There was no such thing as a ’safe place’, not when one of the supreme packs might be after them... It’s been almost a year since Kade had first arrived in Silverfall, there was a chance the Misty Claw Pack had already noticed his visits, and had their eyes on the town. If Felix were to suddenly leave, it might attract more attention.

Thus, the only safe place they could move to would be the Bloodmoon Pack’s territory... Since Remi is the pack’s benefactor, it wouldn’t be hard to ask for a nice place to live in one of the towns under their control. The problem was that this ’safety’ was only temporary... If the conflict with the Misty Claw Pack escalated, the Bloodmoon Pack’s territory might change into a bloody battlefield. It wasn’t something that was likely to happen in the next few years... But Felix had to think long-term, and consider all the possibilities.

Thus, at least for the time being, he decided to stay in Silverfall. It was Remi’s turf, so if something were to happen, the fox might have ways to defend and a reliable escape route ready...

But Felix wasn’t going to just sit around aimlessly and hope that others would do everything for him. He had his own plans in place - starting from erasing all the traces of his connection with Kade, in case anyone from the Misty Claw Pack came to investigate. It would be difficult, as the Alpha had spent so much time in the town, and he and Felix had been seen in public together a good few times before... But even if people remembered it, most of them were just strangers who didn’t know Felix, and wouldn’t be able to provide any detailed information, only that he was a ’young man of average height with golden brown hair,’ or something along those lines. Only the Crossroads employees knew him personally...

Thus, as long as he made sure to silence them well (with a potion or a spell), he should be able to ensure his safety for a while.

And if the worst came to the worst, he could pretend to cooperate with the Misty Claw Pack if they came to him. Agnes promised to misdirect them, informing Erin Darkfang that the witch who had undone her curse was in a different part of the country. Then, Remi would be just a witch who had failed Kade’s request... Whether it would work or not, Felix didn’t know - after all, the Misty Claw Pack might still attempt to kill them just to tie up any loose ends! - but that was just their last resort, in case everything else failed.

It was Vivi’s fifth-month birthday when Agnes finally left. She stayed for the small celebratory party, with her and Brielle as the only guests (since there were two witches present, and the party was held in the witch’s house for a change, Eden politely excused himself from attending, claiming to have caught a really bad cold). Then, once the night had fallen, she left through the back door. Just as she came, in her old boots and brown jacket, with no luggage (at least as far as Felix could see. Perhaps her pockets were enchanted or something, though, as all the clothes she had worn over the past days had to come from somewhere).

She turned at the door, just as she was about to leave, and grabbed Felix by his hands.

"Thank you for taking care of my son," she said with a warm smile. "Please continue to be good for him... And I hope that the next time we see each other, you will have a little fox with you!"

"Mum!" Remi protested, while Felix’s face turned red.

Putting aside the fact that he and Remi weren’t actually ’partners’ or anything... It was hardly the time to think about having pups together!

But Agnes made nothing of Remi’s reproachful gaze. Her smile only widened, and she pulled Felix into an embrace... Then, all of a sudden, as she was releasing the Omega from her arms, her hand swiftly changed its direction, making a move to snatch Felix’s hat.

She failed, though, as she was stopped just in time by Remi, who was waiting right by Felix’s side vigilantly. freёnovelkiss-com

"Tsk," Agnes clicked her tongue with disappointment. She didn’t fight her son, though, just snatched her hand back, and turned around. Then, she transformed into a fox, and after giving Remi one last glance, disappeared into the night...
