I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]-Chapter 147: We’re Friends, Right?
Chapter 147: We’re Friends, Right?
After being suddenly woken up from his sleep, Eden just stared blankly at the dark ceiling for a moment, his eyes almost unnaturally wide... Until eventually, he registered a figure standing right by his bed, and he shifted his gaze.
"Don’t scream," Felix warned.
But there was no need for him to.
"Mph! Mmph, mph, mph!"
Muffled moans and groans were all that could get out of Eden’s mouth, as his lips were tightly glued together.
Felix turned his head away, unable to look Eden straight in the eyes. The whole situation... made him deeply uncomfortable. It was one thing when he had interrogated that rogue Beta, Brian - the man had followed him alone at night with unknown intentions, so Felix’s reaction felt more justified - but Eden had been a helpful friend to him all this time... It was just that his behavior recently had been suspicious, but it could very well be Felix overreacting...
There was no point turning back now, though, so Felix just asked Remi, who was hiding in the corner, with the spiky witch hat covering half of his face, "Can you do it so that he can talk, but not scream? I won’t be able to get any answers from him if his mouth is shut!"
Remi only nodded in response, and a moment later, Eden let out a gasp, his lips finally parting.
"What are you doing here?" he muttered, his voice weak. Probably the effect of a spell, weakening him so that he wouldn’t have enough energy to try screaming for help or anything.
"I just want to ask you a few questions," Felix said, pulling out a chair and taking a seat by the bed.
"...Now?" Eden lifted his brows, trying to appear calm, although his uneven breathing and quickened heartbeat betrayed his emotions. "If you want to talk to me, you should have just asked to meet me..."
"I did, though," Felix pointed out. "But you’ve avoided me all this time..."
Eden gulped loudly, averting his gaze. "I’ve just... been busy recently," he excused himself. He didn’t sound honest at all, though.
"Busy with what?"
"With... Just some personal things." Feeling too vulnerable, talking with Felix while lying flat on the bed, Eden slowly lifted himself up. It took some effort, due to his weakened state, but he managed to drag himself up, and sit with his back resting against the bed board.
"Just some personal things," Felix repeated. "You can’t tell me what it was?"
Considering how open and talkative Eden had always been, not to mention how much interest he took in Felix’s affairs, asking him about Kade and whatnot, this sudden secrecy was truly odd!
And Eden must have realized it as well, because he pressed his lips, his eyes shifting around, as he tried to quickly come up with an explanation...
"It’s nothing special, really," he eventually said. "I was just... helping one of my friends with redecorating their house, that’s all."
That... wasn’t an unbelievable excuse - Eden had helped Felix with redecoration in the past as well, so there was no reason why he wouldn’t do this for his other friends - but at the same time... It didn’t seem all that ’personal’. And if that was really it, then why wouldn’t he tell that to Felix from the start, instead of acting all sketchy with unclear excuses? Sure, he was not obligated to explain himself, but...
"Anyway," before Felix could question him any further, Eden spoke up again. "Even if I have been unavailable recently, that’s not a reason to break into my house at night. Leave now, and I will pretend this never happened... We can meet again once we’re done with... with the redecoration."
"...Oh?" Felix’s brows shot up. "I broke into your house... And you’ll just leave it like that? And then hang out with me again?"
"O-of course! We’re... friends, right?"
If Felix had been doubtful before, this confirmed it to him. Eden... was definitely suspicious. Felix had broken into his house all of a sudden, and he was still claiming they were friends? Eden would have to be stupid to think that way, and lack any self-preservation instincts! And that most certainly wasn’t the case, considering he had managed to run away from his pack and survive as a rogue for several years.
Felix let out a quiet sigh, disappointed. Then, he glanced back at Remi. "Truth spell, please..."
"Wait, what... What truth spell, what are you doing..." Eden tried to protest, but it was already too late. The scent of jasmine in the room intensified, as Remi cast another spell on the Omega, this time forcing him to speak truthfully.
"Alright, let’s get to the point, then," Felix sighed again. "Why are you so against being put under a spell? The spell we discussed the last time, I mean."
"W-well, that’s... That’s because..." Eden bit his lip, trying to resist the spell, but it was no use. No matter how hard he tried to hold back his tongue, the words spilled out of his mouth on their own, "Because then I won’t be able to talk about you and Young Master Kade..."
"And that’s bad because..." Felix urged him, and Eden soon finished the sentence,
"Because then I won’t be able to make my reports!"
Make his reports. So it wasn’t even that he considered selling Felix off in the future... But he had already been reporting on him?
Felix... felt tired. Truly tired. While he had been suspicious of Eden before... He was still hoping deep down that he had been wrong. That Eden was just... a bit too eager of a friend, that’s all.
But that wasn’t the case. freewēbnoveℓ.com
"What reports?" he asked next. Although he had lost all of his will to continue the conversation, he had to get to the bottom of it. It wasn’t the time to feel sad or betrayed. "Who are you reporting to?"
"Reports about you, what you do and so on... To Young Master Kade..."
...To Kade?
Felix gritted his teeth. On one hand, it was good news - at least Eden didn’t report to the enemy - but on the other... He now had two people to be angry at!
"Since when?" he muttered, barely keeping his calm.
"Since... January..."
So... Almost a year now?!
