Chapter 151: It Never Rains, But It Pours

As promised, Felix remained in touch with Kade.

However, just because he responded to Kade’s messages (or, well, at least some of them), that didn’t mean that things remained unchanged. After the incident with Eden, Felix has grown more distant toward the Alpha again. After all, no matter what his intentions were, it still didn’t change the fact that Kade had kept someone by Felix’s side without his knowledge, to keep an eye on the Omega. And even if Eden wasn’t as innocent as Felix had previously thought... He still had been friendly towards Felix. When they had first met, it was likely that Eden didn’t have any other intentions, that he had just been trying to be helpful to a young rogue Omega who had fled from his pack, because he had once been in a similar situation, so he could relate...

Of course, that was long in the past, and there was no going back. Felix knew it, and he didn’t regret his choices - no matter what, he’d much rather know if a person around him had any hidden motives - but some bitterness still remained. He was bitter towards Kade, who secretly had someone keep an eye on him, he was bitter towards Eden, who pretended to be his friend all this time, and he was angry at himself, for being played all this time...

Of course, his so-called friendship with Eden disappeared. On its own. Felix didn’t even have to push the Omega away, or avoid him, or anything... Because of the memory-altering spell, Eden forgot... far more than Felix initially thought he would.

It was because their ’friendship’ had much more to do with Kade than he thought.

It wasn’t that Eden had forgotten about his existence, not at all. Altering his memories so much would have serious consequences. He still remembered that someone like ’Lex’ existed. That he had helped him get a job at the Crossroads, and that they met occasionally for a chat over tea. It was just that... Now, that he no longer remembered about the deal he had made with Kade, Felix was just a former coworker to him. The thought to reach out to him, to talk or hang out, never really crossed his mind.

Without any of Kade-related memories, they weren’t all that close.

Suddenly, Felix felt as if he had become a stranger in town once again. A veil had been cast over the past year he had spent in Silverfall. Some people recognized him, but at the same time, they didn’t...

He was more like a wandering ghost, rather than a living, breathing person. The only people who were not affected were Remi, Brielle, and, of course, his pup... Felix spent his days only caring for Vivi, doing pottery to relax, sometimes going to the witch’s house to help with some things in the workshop, or having tea with the mermaid. Days passed by, blending in together...

***

Just because time in Silverfall was monotonous and slow, that didn’t mean the rest of the world had also stopped. Information circulated in the supernatural world. Although Remi had helped conceal Felix’s identity, and Kade had also tried to keep everything that had happened in Silverfall a secret, some things were simply out of their control. Eventually, wrong information fell into a wrong person’s hands, causing eyes to turn toward this small, seemingly insignificant town...

And once again, trouble made its way to Silverfall.

The timing was truly unfortunate. Just two days prior, Felix had gone down with a really bad case of the flu. Naturally, Remi had quickly brewed him a potion to cure him, but...

It never rains, but it pours. Before Felix managed to recover, his heat arrived once again. Suddenly, without a warning. Since it was only his third time, Felix wasn’t familiar with his cycle yet...

Of course, unlike the previous time, the potions for his heat were already prepared. All Felix had to do was to drink them. They were much better than the one that Remi had fed him the last time, since they had been prepared especially for him, they even tasted much sweeter... But they didn’t relieve all the symptoms, not entirely, as suppressing the heat would be bad for Felix’s health.

So, Felix spent the day in bed, feverish and feeling weak, with a cold towel on his head. Remi took care of Vivi, feeding her, changing her diapers, and playing with her. And when the night came, he fed Felix a potion that would help him sleep well, before curling up on the bed himself...

Perhaps if Felix hadn’t been so deep asleep, he would have noticed earlier. He would have sensed the danger long before it arrived at his doorstep. He could have woken Remi up then, and with a spell, perhaps they could have hidden their presence...

Or maybe not. Felix didn’t know what the limits of Remi’s spells were. The fox could conceal his presence completely from Kade and Eden, who were werewolves... But that was only about hiding from their senses.

But could he possibly hide Felix? If it were about concealing his scent and presence, then most likely yes.

But from that damned fated bond that was like an iron string connecting two souls? That was a connection so deep that it was far beyond the senses. As long as the two fated ones were near, they could find each other, no matter the obstacles. All they had to do was to follow the pull of the bond. It was far easier than following even the most obvious traces...

And so, once the trouble arrived in town, it didn’t take long before it found its way to Felix’s house. There was no need for any investigation, no need to question anyone...

The car pulled over, and a man stepped out. Without a second of hesitation, he headed toward the front door, climbing up the old, wooden porch. He didn’t even bother to knock. With one kick, the door shook. With the other, they completely gave in. There was not even a hint of concern on his face that the neighbors might hear the commotion and call the cops. He just barged right in, rushing toward the bedroom door...
