Chapter 159: Pre-made Plans

Felix was speechless.

"You... Were behind it?" freeweɓnovel~cѳm

"If you mean capturing that female Omega, then yes," Kade confirmed, his voice sounding smug. "I prepared a few distractions ahead of time, so that the moment your location was discovered, the plan was ready to be put into action... It was supposed to delay that Alpha from leaving the pack, or force him to turn back... But it seems it didn’t work as I expected," he explained, his smugness turning into displeasure at the last sentence.

So that’s how it was... Felix knew that there was something fishy about Ashley being kidnapped. And as he had thought, the incident was related to the leak... Except that not in the way that he had expected.

Whether that was a good thing or not, he didn’t know, as with it, the anonymous leak once again became more mysterious...

Either way.

"Well, he had only received the news this morning," he said. "By then, he was already here..."

"What? Only this morning?" Kade seemed surprised. "How useless," he scoffed, not hiding his annoyance.

It seemed that things didn’t quite go as planned.

Which was a bit of a shame. If Jared had received the news earlier, then he might have turned back before arriving in Silverfall. Of course, that would only delay him a bit - once he solved the issue, he would most likely head to Silverfall again... However, that delay could have spared Felix this... unwelcome visit. If he had known that Jared would be coming, he could have gone on a trip to the city or something, and then return once Jared confirmed that Felix wasn’t in town, and went back home.

But then again, that would still only be a temporary solution. As long as the anonymous tipster hadn’t been dealt with, Felix wouldn’t be safe. The tipster might have provided the Moonhill Pack with more information, which would lead Jared to send people to Silverfall to observe. Even if Felix concealed his scent with a spell and hid his face with a scarf, the Moonhill Pack members might still be able to recognize him. They had known Felix his whole life, after all...

Anyway, there was no point in dwelling too much on it. What was done was done, and they had to move on.

On that note...

"What will happen to her now?" Felix asked. "Ashley, I mean..."

"Oh, that female Omega? What do you want to happen to her?"

Hearing Kade’s nonchalant question, Felix didn’t quite know what to say. Was the Alpha really leaving it for Felix to decide? Well, it concerned only the Moonhill Pack and the Darkmane Pack, and had nothing to do with the Bloodmoon Pack, at least on the surface... He probably didn’t care what happened to some random Omega from the medium-sized pack. As for Felix...

What did he want to happen to Ashley? Truth be told, he didn’t even know himself...

He hated Ashley. That much went without question. She was one of the people who bullied Felix the most, ever since they were kids. Things might have calmed down once Felix grew stronger, as he could defend himself... But she had never stopped mocking and insulting both him, and his mother... And while the former he could take, he could never tolerate the latter...

He hated her. However... Did he hate her enough to wish for her to be forced to mate with someone she didn’t like? On one hand, he wanted her to suffer. On the other... such punishment felt too cruel. As someone who knew how it felt, he didn’t wish that upon anyone.

"Let Jared deal with it," he eventually said. "They can keep her for a while in the Darkmane Pack... But I don’t want anyone to take advantage of her." He thought for a moment, before adding, "It’s fine if they use her as a servant and force her to do odd jobs, but no one should mate with her without her consent."

"Alright," Kade agreed without hesitation. "I’ll let them know."

As expected, he didn’t care at all.

"As for that Alpha..."

"I’ll deal with him," Felix just said. "If I have any problems, I’ll let you know."

Once again, silence fell between them. There wasn’t anything left for them to discuss, but Kade was still unwilling to end the call... Despite the arguments that Felix had mentioned, he still wanted to be involved, to come to Silverfall and deal with Jared himself... Or better yet, take Felix away.

But Felix had other plans.

"If that’s all, then I’ll be going now. I still have things to do."

"Oh, well, I..." Kade wanted to say something more, but Felix interrupted him before he managed to utter even half of a sentence.

"Young Master Kade, thanks for your call. Now, goodbye," he said, and immediately ended the call.

It wasn’t that he wasn’t grateful to Kade or anything. He might have been a bit annoyed that Kade had been making plans with the Darkmane Pack and who knows whom else as to what to do if Felix’s location was discovered... Or, to be precise, that he had been making such plans without Felix’s knowledge. But at the same time, he was kind of happy that Kade had been putting some effort into keeping Felix safe... It probably wasn’t much to Kade, since he had plenty of resources and people under his command, but still. It was the thought that counted. It made Felix feel all giddy and mushy inside...

But this only irritated Felix further. He was trying to distance himself from Kade, so what was he doing, feeling like that? Not to mention, right now was hardly the right time to swoon because of some Alpha!

He glanced briefly through his notifications. It seemed that Kade had tried to contact him for hours now... He must have missed it because he was so deep asleep, and then knocked out by the potion...

Never mind. He turned off the screen, and tossed the phone aside, trying to dismiss all the thoughts about Kade from his mind. He had another Alpha he had to deal with now...
