I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]-Chapter 270: I’ll Think About It
Felix stared back at Kade in silence, not knowing what to say.
Could they forget about it, at least for a while? If it were just about his feelings, then perhaps... He wasn’t exactly repelled by the idea, quite the opposite, if he had to be honest...
But they were not living in a vacuum, and their potential relationship wouldn’t exist in a vacuum either. There were so many things to consider, his future, Vivi’s future, Kade’s future, Remi, the whole Bloodmoon Pack and their positions within it, as well as many other things that would surely come up once Felix started to think about it seriously... Even if Kade had told him to just forget it all for a while, it wasn’t so easy to do, at least not for Felix. Not to mention, if they were to get any closer than they already were, their attachment would grow, and it would make the inevitable parting even more difficult in the future...
Eventually, Felix averted his eyes. "I don’t know," he said quietly. "I... have to think about it."
"...Alright," Kade let out a sigh. Although it wasn’t the answer he had been hoping for... At least it wasn’t a definite ’no’. ’I’ll think about it’ meant ’maybe’, and with Felix’s past responses, it was already a huge progress. "I don’t want to pressure you." Even though he kind of did.
"Mn," Felix nodded his head. Remi stirred in his lap, snuggling closer to him and subtly releasing his jasmine pheromone as if he were trying to mark him with his scent, but Felix only stroked him absentmindedly, his mind entirely on something else.
Kade hesitated for a moment, before adding, "But you should at least consider going through the mating ceremony with me. We can be mates just in name, but it would be beneficial to you to bond with me before you go to the Moonhill Pack..."
Felix’s shoulders dropped, and he gave the Alpha a long look.
Kade had said ’before you go’, not ’if you go’, but that was not the point here. As much as he hated it, Felix had to admit that at this point, paying a visit to the Moonhill Pack seemed pretty much inevitable... Even if he were to able to interrogate his father with the truth spell, there was no guarantee that it would change anything. If Wilder weren’t lying about the remedy, a trip might be necessary. It was hard to tell.
However... 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"Were you not listening to what I’ve said a moment ago?" Felix asked helplessly. "If we go through the mating ceremony..."
"...We might not be able to break the bond later on. Yeah, I know," Kade finished the sentence for him. "And yes, I understand your concerns. But that’s my problem. And that’s something I will only have to worry about once I actually become the leader of the pack. You should just focus on your immediate issues. Being bonded to me is at least better than to Jared Thorne, right?"
"..." Felix couldn’t really say anything to that. Indeed, from his point of view, it was better to be with Kade. Even if it could potentially result in him being forced to become the Luna of the Bloodmoon Pack one day - no matter what Kade said, Felix had to at least consider this possibility. After all, it wasn’t just up to them, if Kade’s parents were to intervene... If he and Kade bonded and they were unable to break that bond later, Felix might be forced to take the responsibility - at least that was better than becoming the Luna of the Moonhill Pack alongside Jared. The one was just the role and the lifestyle (and the environment) that he didn’t want for himself, while the other... was just an absolutely miserable existence.
"You don’t have to give me the answer right now. Just, think it over carefully, okay?" Seeing Felix’s hesitation, Kade dropped the topic. "As for the issue of you going to the Moonhill Pack for your health treatment... Well..."
"I’ll discuss it with my father, if that’s absolutely necessary," Felix cut him off, knowing what the Alpha was going to say. He couldn’t even blame him for that, since Kade was genuinely worried for him. "But first, let’s take him out into the forest once again. We can use a truth spell on him to check if this so-called remedy is even real."
"Huh?" Kade blinked. He didn’t think about it... But now that Felix had mentioned it, he could recall Felix telling him about such a spell. He turned his eyes to the fox resting (well too comfortably) on the Omega’s lap, "Can you do it?"
Remi pretended not to hear. Only when Felix repeated the question, scratching him affectionately behind his ears, did he deign to raise his head, and give Felix a lazy nod as an answer.
Of course, he could do it. And if Felix was asking, he would be willing to.
"Alright. Let’s do this," Kade agreed. "I will take him out when I have an opportunity... But, since I don’t know when that might be, you will have to be on standby... I will message you when we are going out, so that you will be able to follow us with the fox."
"Mn. Sounds fine."
"Great," Kade sighed, dragging himself up to his feet. "It’s late now, so I won’t bother you any longer. Have a good..."
He was about to wish Felix a good night, but all of a sudden, he paused, as his gaze fell on the coffee table.
Or on the book lying on the coffee table, to be precise.
"...What’s this?" he asked, lifting the book with two fingers, as if it were something disgusting. His face was also twisted in displeasure.
A fox romance? Where did something like that come from? Felix certainly hadn’t had any books like that when he had come to the Bloodmoon Pack...
"Oh, that’s..." Felix was just thinking how to explain himself - or rather, Remi, since the fox was the culprit behind his personal library’s update - but it was too late. Guided by instinct, Kade was already in front of his bookshelf.
And his eyes instantly narrowed, as he scanned the titles. Some, he kind of recognized, as they were awfully similar to the ones he had picked himself... But foxified. He picked one of the books, and flipped through the pages.
"Hah!" he scoffed, haphazardly stuffing the book back, as if he couldn’t stand looking at it any longer. The bookshelf was filled to the brim, though, so when one was taken out, the others slightly tilted and spread, filling the space, so that the book wouldn’t go back in so easily...
Which only annoyed Kade more. He pushed even harder, until the cover and the pages all bent terribly from the force, and the book became even harder to fit. He glared at Remi, as if it was somehow the fox’s fault that he couldn’t put it back...
Then, he just tossed the damaged book on top of the others, and marched away. He really wanted to toss that damned fox out, but he couldn’t, since he knew that Felix wouldn’t like that.
"Have a good night. I’ll see you tomorrow," he just said to Felix, throwing the last final displeased glance at the fox, who, in contrast, was more than pleased with himself, and disappeared into his room.
