I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]-Chapter 90: Wilted Flowers
Chapter 90: Wilted Flowers
The flowers didn’t last long. The very next day, they already were quite a sorry sight. Too wilted to make a good decoration in a vase, and not suitable for drying either. Well, that was to be expected after the rough treatment Kade had put them through.
Still, Felix changed the water in the glass, and kept the bouquet on the counter for a little longer. Why, he didn’t know himself, nor did he even stop to think about it. He just let it be, until a few more days later, the roses became completely limp, hanging sadly over the rim of the glass. At that point, there was nothing he could do, other than throw them away.
However, while the roses might have faded away, the memory of the kiss on the porch did not. It stuck on the top of Felix’s mind so stubbornly, that even printing it out and plastering it to the walls all around the house wouldn’t make it any more obvious.
It was a good thing that he had Vivi. The little pup that kept Felix busy all the time, waking every two or three hours and making a racket with her cries. Felix couldn’t even sit down by the pottery wheel too much, because whenever he started working on a project, his hand covered in the soft clay... Vivi would soon wake up, summoning him back to her side, crying out loud.
Not that Felix complained. He was glad that she was so active, and developing well. Not to mention, thanks to the fact that he was so preoccupied taking care of his daughter, he had less time to think about Kade. And the less he thought about the Alpha, the sooner he would be able to move on.
...It was ridiculous that he even had something to ’move on’ from. He didn’t realize before just how much Kade had managed to get under his skin during the time they had known each other.
But that was no longer relevant! What mattered now was that his pup was developing well. When Felix took her for a checkup, the doctor found no problems. In fact, she was even surprised by how strong and healthy Vivi was, considering she was born preterm!
As for the money he had spent on the visit to the clinic, he was, surprisingly, able to save up on the groceries. Mainly because of Remi. It seemed that the fox had gotten tired of being a free-loader - although, to be fair, he had already stopped being one months ago, when he started supplying Felix with the potions - and started contributing more to their household. He not only started bringing some of the rabbits and birds he personally hunted home to Felix, but also leaving grocery bags on the porch. He always vanished right after knocking on the door, so Felix had never caught him bringing the stuff, but the scent hanging in the air still tipped him off as to who the ’mysterious benefactor’ was.
And so, they led a peaceful life together. Felix, his pup, and the fox. If Felix had any complaints, that would be Remi’s insistence on sticking to playing the role of the ’house pet’... The fox refused to show up in front of the Omega in his human form, apart from the time Felix had stopped by the witch’s house.
But, that was just a minor issue. There was no rush, Felix could think about it later, once Vivi grew up a little bit, and he would have time for other things again.

The happy days went by so quickly, that Felix didn’t even realize when the month had passed since Kade had left. A month, during which the Alpha remained completely silent...
It was only when Eden stopped by to visit that the topic got brought up again.
"So," Eden asked, as they sat down in Felix’s kitchen, drinking some tea after taking Vivi for a walk. "Are you still in touch with Kade Blackstone?"
Felix immediately flinched, almost spilling his tea. "W-what? Why do you ask?"
"Well... It was his guards who took you to the hospital when you went into labor, no? And he stayed with you while you were in the hospital, and brought you back to Silverfall... And that pram," Eden eyed the obviously top-quality, expensive, modern pram Felix had been using, "Wasn’t it bought by him?"
Indeed it was. Eden knew all too well about how Felix was concerned about his finances not to figure it out. Even if Felix were to try to deny it, the truth was simply too obvious, so he unwillingly admitted, "Yes, he bought it... But it’s over now."
"Over? What’s over? I thought that there wasn’t anything between you?"
...Ugh.
Felix groaned inwardly. He couldn’t exactly tell Eden the truth... Well, technically he could, but didn’t want to. Eden was just an outsider, not involved in the situation in any way, and it was Felix’s personal business. He was still reluctant to trust others, especially another werewolf. Remi and Brielle were fine, since they didn’t have anything to do with the wolf shifter community, but Eden... As reliable as he might have seemed, Felix still couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable sharing his secrets.
"Well, he was interested in me. But we had a serious discussion, regarding the future, the difference in our status, and so on, and we have reached a mutual understanding. So, he left and is no longer pursuing me," he said instead. It wasn’t a lie... not entirely at least, and it should be enough to satisfy Eden’s curiosity.
Well, perhaps not entirely, as he still looked as if he had more to ask, but in the end, he didn’t. He just said, "That’s a shame. You looked good together."
"Hahah, oh, well," Felix forced out a laugh, before changing the topic. "Anyway, how are things at work? Anything interesting?"
"Oh, yeah, quite a few things! You know we had that staff party last week, right? So, when we all got drunk, Isla..."
With the change of the topic, Eden’s attention was successfully averted, and the Omega moved on to discuss the latest gossip. But his words barely reached Felix’s ears, as his mind was stuck on Kade.
So many days had passed already... And yet, there wasn’t even a single message from the Alpha.
Was that it, then? Did Kade... move on? Felix should have been happy... But somehow, his chest felt hollow.
Was that really just it? So easily gone?
