Ignored When Chasing: Why Cry After I Got Engaged-Chapter 175: They Didn’t Bully You, Did They?
"Dad, the person who’s been bullying me is right over there."
Mona Nathan pointed at Cecilia Nathan up ahead.
Hearing that his daughter had been bullied, Mona’s father’s expression instantly darkened.
She was his only daughter, his treasure.
As a member of the Nathan Family, no one dared to bully anyone with the surname "Nathan."
And yet, Mona had complained to him several times recently that someone was picking on her.
’Who could be so clueless?’
Dominic Nathan thought about the current power structure in Korsyth, which was completely dominated by the Hawthorne Family.
"Is that person from the Hawthorne Family?" Dominic Nathan asked.
Besides the Hawthornes, there shouldn’t be anyone else in Korsyth who would dare to disrespect the Nathan Family.
Mona Nathan rolled her eyes. "What makes her worthy of being associated with the Hawthorne Family? At best, she’s just one of Damian Hawthorne’s simps, and not even an important one at that."
The thought of Cecilia Nathan and Serena Hughes ganging up on her made Mona seethe with anger. Her eyes reddened as she clutched Dominic Nathan’s arm pitifully. "Daddy, not only does that bitch have no respect for me, she even brought that country bumpkin the Sinclair Family just took back to bully me with her."
"They dare to bully me like this just because this isn’t Aethelgard, not our family’s home turf. Fine, I’ll accept that. But I still have the Nathan name! No wonder our family’s branch in Korsyth is so stagnant. It’s because no one in this entire city respects the Nathan Family at all." Mona finished with a few sobs, tears welling up in her eyes.
She wasn’t faking it; she was genuinely crying from anger.
Thanks to the Nathans of Aethelgard, she was adored and sought after wherever she went. When had she ever been bullied like this?
Seeing his precious daughter’s face flushed red with anger, her body wracked with sobs, Dominic Nathan’s face darkened as well. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
He knew his daughter’s personality. She wouldn’t hate someone this much unless she had been pushed to her absolute limit.
"If she isn’t from the Hawthorne Family, then this is simple." Dominic Nathan shot a deep look at Cecilia Nathan’s back before walking toward her with Mona.
At that moment, Zoe Lynch was in the middle of humiliating Cecilia. When she saw Dominic and Mona Nathan approaching, Zoe immediately stopped talking.
As a manager at the Nathan Corporation’s Korsyth branch, Zoe Lynch naturally knew who Dominic and Mona were.
Zoe Lynch shot Cecilia a harsh glare before turning to Dominic and Mona with a warm smile. "Dominic, Miss Mona, you’re here! President Nathan was just asking why you hadn’t arrived yet. They’re in a meeting in the conference room right now. It’s the perfect time to head over."
Dominic Nathan noticed that Zoe seemed to have been arguing with Cecilia just now and asked casually, "What were you doing just now?"
"Dominic, this woman just claimed to be Selina Nathan. Isn’t that hilarious? President Nathan’s daughter has always been kept out of the public eye. How could she possibly be a woman like this? She just lies without thinking, assuming she could fool me with such a story just because I’ve never met Miss Nathan."
"What did you say? She’s Selina Nathan?!" Mona’s face went pale. She strode quickly to stand in front of Cecilia, staring intently at her face.
Dominic Nathan’s heart sank. He said angrily, "Selina is very well protected by my older brother. How could she be someone that a person of such poor character could impersonate at will?"
"Exactly, Dominic! She’s a fraud. Why don’t you take a look yourself? Is this your niece or not?" Zoe Lynch thought that with Dominic here, she could finally expose Cecilia’s true colors.
Hearing the name Dominic Nathan, Cecilia looked toward him.
She had heard Linden Nathan mention this distant cousin before. He was headstrong but had mediocre work skills. If not for being family, Linden wouldn’t have helped him out.
As Cecilia was observing Dominic Nathan, he was also observing her.
The first time he saw Cecilia, Dominic Nathan frowned.
The young woman before him was bare-faced, with delicate features. Beneath her fair skin, her eyes were bright and clear. She was both elegantly beautiful and possessed an ethereal, otherworldly air.
In his memory, Dominic Nathan had only seen Selina Nathan when she was a few years old. As for the grown-up Selina, he’d heard she had always been in Korsyth and rarely returned to Aethelgard.
And Linden Nathan, afraid she would be pestered by young men with ulterior motives from rival companies, had protected Selina so well that even relatives like them had never seen her.
Dominic Nathan studied Cecilia carefully, comparing her to the niece in his memory.
If there was one feature Cecilia shared with Linden Nathan, it was undoubtedly her eyes.
’Could it be? Is she really Selina Nathan?’
"Dad, you don’t think... Cecilia... her surname is also Nathan. She couldn’t really be..." Mona naturally thought of what had happened before. And observing Cecilia closely, she could see that she did bear a slight resemblance to Linden Nathan.
Dominic Nathan wasn’t sure himself.
The last time he had called Linden Nathan to ask about the relationship between this Cecilia and Selina Nathan, Linden hadn’t answered him directly. He only said to come to the meeting and that everything would be revealed, especially regarding Selina’s identity, which he intended to announce personally.
If she was the real deal, then why would Zoe Lynch be arguing with Cecilia?
The management here in Korsyth should have all received notice that Linden Nathan was going to announce his daughter’s identity. Zoe Lynch was essentially the vice president of Nathan Corporation’s Korsyth branch; it was unlikely she wouldn’t recognize Selina Nathan.
"President Lynch, I heard that President Nathan will be announcing his daughter’s identity today. Is that person... this Miss Cecilia Nathan before us?" Fearing he’d make a mistake, Dominic Nathan decided to ask Zoe Lynch first.
"Of course not!" Zoe Lynch immediately refuted Dominic’s guess.
"She just came to our conference room with the president from the Hawthorne Family to cause a scene. President Nathan was furious and sent me down specifically to handle this matter. He even said we need to protect our own people. How could she possibly be President Nathan’s daughter when he’s so angry with her?" Zoe Lynch spoke with great conviction.
Hearing this, Dominic Nathan finally felt certain of his conclusion.
"Since she’s lying, document her actions. Selina’s reputation is not something outsiders like her can tarnish. Have the legal department sue her, force an apology, and demand the maximum compensation. We can’t let others get the idea they can follow her example and treat the Nathan Family like fools." Dominic Nathan looked furious.
After Dominic Nathan finished speaking, Zoe Lynch nodded repeatedly. "Dominic is right. A disgusting person like her deserves to rot in jail."
"Dad, let’s head up first. I can also get a look at what kind of young man my uncle has been grooming." Mona was very excited, having heard that the person Linden Nathan was mentoring was a handsome man.
"Alright. In that case, Ms. Lynch, we’ll head up." Without a single glance at Cecilia, Dominic Nathan led Mona toward the elevators.
Zoe Lynch turned her head to look at Cecilia, her tone mocking. "Didn’t you say you were Selina Nathan? How come you don’t even recognize your own uncle? If you were really Selina Nathan, how could your own relatives not recognize you? You should use your brain a little when you lie. Miss Cecilia Nathan, you can just wait to be served with a lawsuit!"
After saying her piece, Zoe Lynch turned and walked away.
Cecilia watched all of this unfold in silence, not having said a word the entire time.
Just then, she received a call from Linden Nathan. "Cecilia, how are things going? I sent Zoe Lynch to help you. Damian Hawthorne and his people didn’t bully you, did they?"
