Chapter 70: SUDDEN ENDEARMENT

DONE.

Yun Dujun put the big boxes in An Baekya’s bedroom.

Our Yuhyun likes exploring the house, so he might find the costumes if we don’t hide them properly. Fortunately, my son goes everywhere but An Baekya’s room. So, this should be a safe hiding spot.

"Abeoji, are those the costumes you’re going to wear at Yuhyun’s graduation recital?"

"Yeah," Yun Dujun answered while nodding. "We got one for you, too."

An Baekya’s eyes widened as if he were surprised. "Really? I have a costume as well?"

"Your appa didn’t want to make you feel left out, so he included you."

An Baekya smiled. "Appa is really a good person."

"I know," Yun Dujun agreed while nodding. "Anyway, thank you for letting me hide the costumes in your room, Baekya."

"It’s nothing, Abeoji. I want to surprise Yuhyun as well."

"Are you getting along with Yuhyun these days?"

"I’m working hard to get close to him, Abeoji."

"Very well," Yun Dujun said, nodding. "Let’s go— I’ll introduce you to my older brother."

"Yes, Abeoji."

Yun Dujun and An Baekya then headed towards the reception room where Bae Wonyoung and Yun Inyeop were having tea.

I know Hyung-nim said he wanted to talk to Bae Wonyoung in private, but I can’t have him scaring my husband for far too long. Bae Wonyoung is already scared of my mother. He might really leave me this time if my older brother threatens him or something.

"Hyung-nim, I’m sorry to interrupt your conversation," Yun Dujun said politely when he entered the reception room after knocking. "An Baekya is already awake, so I want to introduce our foster child to you."

He was talking to Yun Inyeop, but his eyes were actually focused on Bae Wonyoung.

It seemed like he was too late.

Bae Wonyoung’s shoulders were hunched, and his hoobae had a gloomy expression on his face.

Tsk.

Hyung-nim probably scolded my husband.

"Alright," Yun Inyeop said indifferently. "I want to meet your foster son."

Yun Dujun nodded politely, and then he gently patted An Baekya’s head. "Baekya, this is your Uncle Inyeop— my older brother. Introduce yourself properly."

"Yes, Abeoji," An Baekya answered politely, and then he put his hands on his stomach before bowing his head. "Hello, Uncle Inyeop. My name is An Baekya."

***

"APPA, are you alright?"

Wonyoung flinched when An Baekya asked him that question.

I made the child worried.

He was an embarrassment as an adult.

"I’m fine, Baekya," Wonyoung said, and then he whispered in An Baekya’s ear. "Inyeop Hyung-nim is just a little scary."

An Baekya nodded. "Yeah, Uncle Inyeop seems like a bully."

Pfft.

Fortunately, only Wonyoung and An Baekya were in the dining hall at the moment.

He already had tea and some pastries earlier, so only the child was having snacks.

Chef Park prepared a clubhouse sandwich and a glass of orange juice for An Baekya.

"Did Uncle Inyeop bully you, Appa?"

Oh.

It’s not bullying, but Inyeop Hyung-nim threatened that he’d send you back to where you came from if I don’t treat Yuhyun fairly.

It wasn’t like Wonyoung could say that to An Baekya.

Plus, I’m trying to be a proper father to Yuhyun now, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

"It’s nothing, Baekya," Wonyoung said, smiling while shaking his head. "Your Uncle Inyeop just really fond of Yuhyun."

***

"HYUNG-NIM, did you scold my husband?" Yun Dujun asked when only the two of them were left in the reception room. "Bae Wonyoung looks spooked when he left earlier."

Yeah, he wanted to talk about that to his older brother.

Hence, he told Bae Wonyoung to feed An Baekya first.

"I didn’t scold your husband— I just gave him a friendly warning," Yun Inyeop said, scoffing. "I told him that I’ll send An Baekya to where the child came from if he neglects Yuhyun for your foster child."

Oh.

Then it doesn’t sound so bad?

"Your mood changed," Yun Inyeop commented. "You don’t like your husband’s foster child, do you?"

"It’s not that I don’t like An Baekya," Yun Dujun said while shaking his head. "But I don’t like how Bae Wonyoung cares about him too much when he should be focusing on Yuhyun."

"Then why did you agree to foster the child?"

"Because Bae Wonyoung wanted to adopt An Baekya."

"You’re not going to let your husband keep the child forever, are you?"

Yun Dujun shook his head. "Of course not, Hyung-nim. I’m already looking for An Baekya’s other relatives."

"Good," his older brother said while nodding approvingly. "Do you need my help?"

"I can handle this on my own, Hyung-nim."

"Very well," Yun Inyeop said, and then he checked his watch. "Isn’t it about time Yun Yuhyun comes home?"

"Yes, Hyung-nim," Yun Dujun said. "Han Gunil called earlier and said Yuhyun’s recital practice ended earlier than scheduled."

***

"UNCLE DADDY!"

Hmm?

Wonyoung was pleasantly surprised of what Yun Yuhyun had called Yun Inyeop.

"That’s how Yuhyun calls Inyeop Hyung-nim," Yun Dujun whispered in Wonyoung’s ear. "After all, Hyung-nim attends all of Yuhyun’s school activities in my place."

Aha.

To be honest, Wonyoung was surprised by how fond Yun Inyeop was of Yun Yuhyun.

If only Inyeop Hyung-nim were that nice to Dujun Sunbae-nim...

"Welcome back, Yuhyun-ah," Yun Inyeop said, effortlessly picking up Yun Yuhyun and carrying the kid in his arms. "I brought big lobsters for you. You like their meat, don’t you?"

"Yes, Uncle Daddy," Yun Yuhyun said cheerfully. "I love lobsters!"

Wonyoung beamed upon hearing that.

So, we’re having lobster for dinner? Nice!

"It seems like you also like lobster, Bae Wonyoung," Yun Inyeop commented when he glanced at Wonyoung. "Like mother, like son, huh?"

"Yes, Hyung-nim— I like lobster, too." 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Yun Dujun suddenly looked at Wonyoung in disbelief. "You’re calling my older brother ’Hyung-nim?’"

"Can’t I?" Wonyoung asked, confused. "Inyeop Hyung-nim is my brother-in-law."

"Yes, so you should call him ’Brother-in-law.’"

Right.

That was the correct title that Wonyoung should be calling Yun Inyeop.

But Yuhyun and Baekya are here. It’s not like I can say I’m preparing for the day Dujun Sunbae-nim and I get divorced in front of the kids.

So, he just ignored Yun Dujun’s complaint.

"Don’t fret the details, Yun Dujun," Yun Inyeop scolded Yun Dujun. "Let’s go. The kids must be starving."

Yun Dujun only nodded politely.

Aigoo.

Yun Inyeop then headed to the dining hall with Yun Yuhyun still in his arms.

Wonyoung then avoided Yun Dujun’s gaze and looked down at An Baekya. "Let’s go, Baekya. We’re going to have lobster for dinner. Eat a lot, okay?"

An Baekya smiled and nodded. "I will, Appa."

***

WHEW.

Wonyoung only got to breathe properly after Yun Inyeop left the house.

"Daddy, Papa, I’m sleepy," Yun Yuhyun said while rubbing his eyes with the back of his hands. "Can I go to my room now?"

Pfft.

It was cute how his son felt sleepy after eating a lot of lobsters earlier.

"Alright," Yun Dujun said. "Auntie Rosa?"

"Yes, sir," Rosa, the nanny, held Yun Yuhyun’s hand. "You have to take a shower first, Young Master."

Yun Dujun then looked at the other nanny. "Han Gunil, take care of An Baekya."

"Yes, sir," Han Gunil, Yun Yuhyun’s nanny-slash-bodyguard, answered politely. And then he extended his hand to An Baekya. "Shall we, Young Master Baekya?"

An Baekya looked up at Wonyoung, acting shy.

Aigoo.

He’s really a genius child actor.

"Go ahead, Baekya," Wonyoung said encouragingly, going along with An Baekya’s act. "Let your Uncle Gunil help you shower and change into your pajamas."

"Okay, Appa," An Baekya said, still acting meek. And then he bowed his head towards Han Gunil. "Please take care of me, sir."

Han Gunil was obviously flustered. "Please speak comfortably, Young Master..."

Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Baekya is really good at acting innocent.

Anyway, Yun Yuhyun left with Rosa while An Baekya left with Han Gunil.

"We should get a nanny and a bodyguard for An Baekya," Yun Dujun said. "I’ll ask the HR Team to send us some candidates."

"Will it be safe to do that, Sunbae-nim?"

"There’s a company that sends household staff members to chaebol families," the Alpha explained. "That company is known for being strict. They only accept tight-lipped and competent employees. That’s why chaebol families choose their service, including my father’s family. So, we can trust whoever they send us. But, of course, I’ll leave it up to you whether you want to hire them or not."

"Me?"

"You’re a better judge of character than I am."

"That’s true," Wonyoung said, smirking quite smugly. "Okay, leave it to me, Sunbae-nim. I’ll make sure to hire a trustworthy nanny and bodyguard for An Baekya."

Yun Dujun just nodded. "So, when are you calling me ’Hyung?’"

Aigoo.

"Why are you so obsessed with wanting to be called ’Hyung?’" Wonyoung complained half-heartedly. "Would you like it if I pester you to call me ’jagiya’ or ’yeobo?’"

"Of course not. Should I call you ’yeobo’ from now on?"

"What?"

"That’s what most married couples call each other anyway," Yun Dujun said, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Yeobo."

Uh-oh.

Hearing Yun Dujun call him ’yeobo’ made Wonyoung’s heart skip a beat.

Yeah, it was cringey.

But it was true!

I mean, if a handsome and sexy man like Dujun Sunbae-nim calls you ’yeobo’ with his deep, bedroom voice, you’ll fold, too...

"Yeobo?"

"Stop teasing me, Sunbae-nim."

"You’re blushing, Hoobae-nim."

Wonyoung covered his face with his hands. "No, I’m not."

Yun Dujun chuckled. "Should we go to karaoke tomorrow?"

Thank goodness the Alpha changed the topic.

Wonyoung removed his hands from his face. "Do you have a schedule tomorrow, Sunbae-nim?"

"No, but I want to go on a date with you, Hoobae-nim."

Aigoo.

"Can I go to the mall tomorrow, then?"

"For what?"

"I want to get a haircut and buy new clothes," Wonyoung said. "It’s a part of my preparation for my audition."

After all, I need to look the part of the role I want to bag.

"I know it’s risky for you to go to a crowded place like a shopping mall, Sunbae-nim. So, I’ll just go on my own. Then let’s meet later after I’m done."

Booking a private karaoke room is safer than going to the mall.

Yun Dujun tilted his head to one side. "Let’s just bring the department store home, Hoobae-nim."

Ah, right.

Wonyoung almost forgot how boring Yun Dujun’s way of shopping was.

In the first place, even before Sunbae-nim became an actor, he already has a personal shopper. So, he didn’t have to go to the department store.

"I wanna go to the department store and roam around," Wonyoung said while shaking his head, making Yun Dujun frown. "Shopping at home might be convenient, but it’s not fun for me, Sunbae-nim."

***

FANCY meeting you here, Sunbae-nim.

Wonyoung wouldn’t say that he was surprised to see a huge billboard of Yun Dujun’s face in the Junsung Seoul Mall.

It was one of the biggest luxury shopping malls in the country.

Plus, it was owned by Junsung Group— the conglomerate owned by Lee Heeju’s family.

So, I’m not surprised that Dujun Sunbae-nim is the face of Junsung Seoul Mall.

"Appa, are we going to buy a graduation gift for Yun Yuhyun?"

Wonyoung looked down at An Baekya.

Yep, he brought his future (or former) son-in-law with him.

"Yes, we’re going to buy a gift for Yuhyun," Wonyoung confirmed while nodding. "But we’re also here to buy clothes for you—"

"E-Excuse me!"

Hmm?

Wonyoung immediately hid An Baekya behind him when a huge man suddenly approached him. "What can I do for you, sir?"

"Oh, I’m not a weird person."

The stranger was wearing smart casual clothes, so he looked pretty decent.

But, of course, Wonyoung didn’t let his guard down.

"I’m a talent scout from J&C Entertainment," the man said, handing Wonyoung a business card. "The child you’re with caught my eye, sir— I can already see him debuting as an idol!"

Huh?

An Baekya is being scouted?
