I'm an Extra, so What?-Chapter 15: The Hunt is On
Chapter 15 - The Hunt is On
Retracing his steps to find a way out of the forest and back onto the dirt road, Luka trudged along the stream, suppressing a yawn.
"Ugh... I'm not even out of this godforsaken forest, and I'm already exhausted," he mumbled to himself.
The gentle murmur of the flowing water didn't help his growing fatigue.
There was something undeniably soothing about it—the rhythmic babbling of the stream, the occasional splash of a fish breaking the surface, the whisper of the wind through the leaves.
It reminded Luka of rainy nights spent dozing off to the sound of droplets tapping against the glass window.
'Too peaceful for a time like this...' He thought.
On the other hand, perched atop Luka's head, Snow was curled into a tiny ball, using his thick hair as a makeshift bed.
Snow's tail was looped securely around Luka's neck, its soft, rhythmic breathing blending with the natural symphony of the forest.
Luka did his best to move carefully, trying not to disturb his little companion.
'I would be an asshole beyond redemption if I wake up such a cute little thing...'
And so Luka's steps slowed as he cast a glance toward the sky.
He still had a long way to go before reaching the dirt road, and with the sun gradually dipping toward the horizon, he knew he couldn't afford to waste time.
Luka sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. 'Let's just hope we make it out of here before nightfall.'

"Hrrhhkk... GRAAAH!"
A two-headed wolf let out a guttural snarl, its jaws snapping shut with terrifying force as it lunged forward.
Its teeth sank deep into the donkey's flesh, and the beast began to shake its head violently, tearing into the prey it had been stalking since it first entered the forest.
The donkey's frantic attempts to struggle were futile; its hooves flailed helplessly, and weak, desperate cries echoed through the trees.
However, it was no match for the two-headed wolf's strength.
With a final, savage shake, the donkey went limp, its life snuffed out.
The two-headed wolf dragged its limp body deeper into the forest, its powerful limbs carrying the prize to a small cave hidden beneath the roots of a gnarled tree.

Inside the dark, cramped space, the two-headed wolf tore into the flesh, each head fighting to gorge itself on the warm, blood-soaked meal.
But even as the two-headed beast feasted, its hunger wasn't fully sated.
Its instincts, ever alert, registered something more—something that could offer even greater satisfaction.
A low growl rumbled from both throats as the two-headed wolf's instincts sharpened.
The human.
It was tempted to hunt him, to chase down the lone figure who had been so foolish as to travel through these woods.
Yet, a streak of caution held it back.
The two-headed wolf remembered its past encounters with humans—how they could be deceptively dangerous when backed into a corner.
Their strength, their weapons, the way they fought to protect their own lives...
The indomitable human spirit...
It made them unpredictable, a threat to be wary of...
The two heads shared a brief, silent exchange of thought, their hunger clawing at them but their survival instincts taking precedence.
Though, as some time passed, the dark deepened, the two-headed wolf grew more aware of its advantage.
They stepped out of the small cave. Both heads, their eyes gleaming with predatory hunger, flicked toward the sky.
Blood still stained their maws.
With a low, guttural growl, they licked their lips in unison.
Silent as a whisper, the two-headed wolf decided it was time.
The hunt had begun.

"I can't see shit..."
Luka sighed, his frustration reaching it's peak as he realized he had forgotten his glasses back at the fortified settlement.
'I really gotta get used to this body...' he thought.
This body was still foreign to him, and little inconveniences like this were starting to wear on his patience.
As if on cue, Luka's stomach growled, sending another wave of discomfort through him.
'Great, now I'm getting hungry... and thirsty. Haven't had a drink all day.'
For a brief moment, Luka found himself questioning his decision to venture into the forest.
'Why did I come out here again? Was it really worth it?' But the thought was fleeting, quickly pushed aside by a flicker of pride.
'It was worth the trip. After all, I did get blessed by the Dragon Queen herself. Plus, I got this little guy.'
Luka smirked to himself, shaking his head. 'Uh, I can already hear the bullshit if people find out about this blessing: With great strength comes great responsibility.'
He let out a quiet laugh, a dry, amused sound.
The phrase was cliché, something that always seemed to follow moments like this, where power was granted, but the weight of it was never far behind.
'Still, being blessed by the Dragon Queen herself isn't something most people get to brag about.'
As Luka's mind wandered, lost in thought, suddenly, Snow's low growl snapped him back to his senses.
"GRRRRrrrr..."
Snow stirred, standing up on Luka's head, his eyes wide and focused.
He then began letting out a series of small, fierce roars, his body tense.
Luka's body reacted instinctively.
"What's wrong, Snow?" He asked, his grip on the bow tightening, fingers subtly adjusting for a firmer hold.
He then quickly grabbed an arrow, quickly nocking it as he positioned himself into a defensive stance.
His eyes scanned the area, trying to detect whatever had set Snow off.
Though Luka couldn't sense anything unusual, nor did he hear any sounds to justify such a reaction, he knew better than to disregard Snow's instincts.
Dragons, even baby ones like Snow, were renowned for their sharp senses and uncanny ability to detect danger.
"Do you sense something?" Luka whispered, his voice barely audible.
Snow's tiny tail swished in agitation, his eyes locked onto a cluster of bushes several yards away.
His growls escalated into more forceful roars.
Luka slowly started to adjust his stance, staying light on his feet, ready to move and react in an instant.
"Fuck it... Doesn't matter how outmatched we are... whatever it is, we're taking this son of a bitch down."
