Chapter 579: Hit For No Reason

Perhaps Xiao Qin was afraid she would get scolded if she was home late, so after she handed me the three large boxes of frozen seafood (along with a aluminum alloy trolley shopping cart), she then rode the subway home.

“Ye Lin classmate should hurry home too. Don’t forget to add ice to the seafood or I’ll die if I eat the bad seafood tomorrow.”

“I’m going home to eat dinner with mom, then I’ll prepare a love filled bento for Ye Lin classmate~?”

“Please praise me more tomorrow if my bento is delicious.”

Xiao Qin hummed and walked away.

The class leader was a genius money saver, she even knew about the seafood sale at the Wal-mart near my house and sent Xiao Qin here to buy it. I’m guessing the store Loud Mouth and Xiong YaoYue went to also had a sale on lamb and beef.

I got home with the seafood and right when I was filling it up with ice, my dad got home.

“Eh, Xiao Lin, why did you buy so much fish and shrimp? I thought you didn’t like eating them?”

It wasn’t because I was picky, but I found it troublesome to eat due to the shells or fish bones.

“It’s not for me, it’s Xiao Qin… no, our class is eating it together on tomorrow’s trip.”

“You guys are going on a trip?” My dad was curious, “Where are you going and for how many days?”

“Cui Song Mountain in Yi Ning county. I’m leaving at 9 tomorrow and coming home the next day afternoon around 5.” I counted on my fingers, “About 40 hours in total, almost two days.”

Even though two years ago Yi Ning county was incorporated under Dong Shan city and renamed to Yi Ning district, locals like me couldn’t change what we called it so quickly.

“Cui Song Mountain…” my dad shut his eyes and looked back through his memories, “It’s a good place. When I was in university, I went there before with my roommates. I don’t remember much other than the place being covered with butterflies.”

“That’s right, there’s still entomologists heading up there trying to catch butterfly specimens.”

At least that’s what the special education school said. The entomologists who went there for those two summers were probably regular customers for the school.

“Oh right, Xiao Lin, have you heard of blue morphos before?” my dad held his glasses with a mysterious look.

“I’ve heard about it, you told me about it when I was younger. Isn’t it those large blue butterflies that’s said to be treasured in Brazil?”

“I think I saw a blue morpho when I went to Cui Song Mountain…”

“No way, isn’t the blue morpho a tropical butterfly? Our city is over a thousand kilometers away from the Tropic of Cancer, how could there be tropical butterflies?”

“I… I definitely saw it clearly. Even if it wasn’t a blue morpho, it could be a similar species. It might even be an undiscovered species… it’s a shame I didn’t catch it or I would be rich.”

My dad said while shaking his head as he helped me fill up the ice.

I don’t really believe it. Shu Zhe had a rotten idea of spreading rumors of a rare butterfly to attract visitors, but is there actually a rare butterfly up there?

“Dad, I think you were mad about money back then and really wanted to be rich.”

“Tsk, why don’t you believe me? I wasn’t the only one who saw it, your leftover uncle… go ask him!”

Hey hey, you tell me to call him Uncle He in front of him, but you always call him leftover uncle behind his back…

My dad and I talked about the suspected blue morpho for a while until we got enough ice.

“By the way, who did you go out to talk with this morning?”

My dad took out some food he brought back and put it on the dinner table. I went over to eat and talk with him.

“Xiao Lin, do you know the adult goods store, Qiao Baby?”

“Yeah, isn’t it the store that has a good business relationship with ours? Did they need you for something?”

“Life is pretty unexpected. Qiao Baby was a business started by a married couple. Their daily sales are much higher than ours, but it’s a shame that money changes people. The two of them both had an affair and now they are in the middle of a divorce. None of them are fighting for the house or savings, both are fighting for the business, since that’s the money maker…”

“Since I’m more acquainted with the male owner of Qiao Baby, he wanted to sell me a portion of the inventory lower than the costs…”

I frowned: “Don’t tell me it’s ¥10,000 of those golden vibrators. We won’t be even able to sell all those crap in a year.”

“No, no.” My dad shook his hands, “It’s all popular goods. I’ve worked in this business for over ten years, so I can’t be fooled…”

What’s there to be proud of? I mean you’ve worked in the adult goods industry for over ten years, but it feels like a scam with your qualifications…

“If it’s popular, then why is he selling it to you at a loss?”

“That’s why I mentioned the divorce. Since the courts might give the business to his wife, he was pissed and wanted to sell out some of the inventory and exchange it for cash while he still has control. He would rather sell it for a loss than give it to his wife.”

I think similar cases happened in foreign countries where the courts decided on an even split, then the husband would rain money on the streets where he would rather give it to strangers than his wife.

Sigh, can someone tell me what is love if it leads to hate? Why get married in the first place if it would end up like this?

“Then buy it if he’s willing to sell at a loss. In this case, he’ll just sell it to someone else if you don’t buy it.”

“That’s true…” my dad scratched his face, “Then I’ll do a check on our inventory and capital tonight and see how much I can buy…”

So the chat he was supposed to have with me was delayed again.

It didn’t really matter to me, since it’s not like I’ll let the blood rush to my head and actually do something to my sister if my dad doesn’t have a chat with me,

The next morning, I woke up early as usual and ate a simple breakfast. Then I added a few frozen water bottles to the cooler and headed towards the class leader’s house.

Of course, other than the stuff for the class, I was also wearing a camo colored backpack. My dad gave it to me on my birthday last year and I like it a lot.

It would be even more perfect if I had my Swiss Army knife, but that was taken by Xiao Qin.

I felt like I arrived too early since there weren’t many people on the roads, but when I arrived there was already someone there.

It was Xiong YaoYue. She was wearing our class white t-shirt with a pair of jean shorts.

The class leader told us all in the group chats yesterday to wear the class shirts, the one with the number 3 in the front with a crown in the back.

It was never worn after the school basketball tournament, so the class leader thought it was a good opportunity.

If everyone was wearing the same shirt, then it would be easier to manage and spot if someone left the group.

The school uniform wouldn’t work since the entire school has an uniform and oftentimes the uniforms between schools would be similar.

Plus the summer uniform for the girls in 28 Middle is only a skirt.

A skirt isn’t really suitable for going up a mountain since everything underneath could be exposed.

The class shirt was better since you could wear anything you want on the lower body.

Xiong YaoYue chose shorts without any hesitation and still left her legs exposed.

“Yo, so Ye Lin is the second one.” Xiong YaoYue had a leaf in her mouth as she waved to me.

“It’s a shame you could only be second, since I’m first.”

Xiong YaoYue placed one feet on the trashcan next to her and began to laugh.

How much does she care about rankings? How come you’re never in pain after finals when you’re always ranked at the bottom?

“I heard Ai Mi is angry at you.” Xiong YaoYue suddenly lowered her voice.

My heart jumped and I wondered if Ai Mi exposed our relationship to Xiong YaoYue.

Xiong YaoYue hit my arm as encouragement which caused me to stagger a bit.

“Don’t argue with your cousin over minor issues, try to be a bit nicer to her.”

That meant she still didn’t know we were biological siblings.

Now even Xiong YaoYue knows about me dating Xiao Qin. Xiao Qin’s mother was strongly opposed to it, so I should tell Xiong YaoYue to keep it a secret…

Even though we were early, there were still others out. We saw a couple walking together while holding hands. As they were walking they hugged and kissed each other.

Xiong YaoYue seemed to have remembered something after watching them. She suddenly yelled out my name: “Ye Lin.”

“What?” I turned to face her.

“Slap.”

Xiong YaoYue suddenly slapped me across the face.

Huh, why did you hit me. Even my dad has never hit me before. I clutched my cheek in shock.

Xiong YaoYue had one hand on her hips as she pointed her other hand at my nose and said:

“Do you know why I hit you?”

“No, I don’t.”

“Hmph, that slap was for Xiao Qin. Last time in the commercial district, you were actually going to kiss me to prove you weren’t gay. I would have left it at that if you didn’t have a girlfriend, but you did have one. If Xiao Qin is your girlfriend, then are you even worthy of her?”
