Chapter 142: The Principal’s Challenge

After hearing Adam’s bold declaration his simple and powerful statement that he did what he did because he had the power to do so all the students present were utterly astonished.

Surprise was clearly visible on every single face in the vast auditorium.

It was on the faces of the newest first-year students and it was on the faces of the most seasoned battle-hardened upperclassmen.

The sheer audacity the unbelievable arrogance of this boy was breathtaking. It was something they had never witnessed before.

The professors on the stage reacting to Adam’s immense display of power and his open defiance of the Principal began to move.

Several of them stepped forward from their positions. Their own powerful auras began to flare to life. They were ready to intervene to support their Principal.

They were prepared to join the fight if needed.

But the Principal his gaze still locked on Adam his eyes fixed on the boy in the front row simply raised a hand to the side. It was a clear definitive gesture.

It was a silent command to his faculty. Stand down. Stay where you are. This is between me and him.

The professors immediately halted their advance.

They recognized the Principal’s signal.

They retracted their own burgeoning power their auras dimming. They stepped back to their original positions on the stage.

Their expressions now were a mixture of deep concern for their Principal and an intense curiosity about what would happen next. They would not interfere.

Adam paid the professors no mind whatsoever. He did not even glance at them. His attention was solely and completely focused on the old man on the stage the Principal.

The immense power radiating from his own body from Eric’s form continued to push back against the Principal’s aura.

It was a relentless unyielding force that held the old man’s power contained at the edge of the platform. It prevented the Principal’s oppressive aura from spreading any further into the auditorium to affect the students.

The Principal his expression now grim and very serious spoke again. His voice was a low dangerous growl.

"Do you even know," he asked his voice resonating with the weight of centuries of tradition of established rules

"what it takes to form a new group in this United Academy? It is not a simple matter."

Adam remained silent for a few seconds. A thoughtful expression was on his face as if he were genuinely considering the question.

Void who was sitting beside Adam was watching this high-stakes confrontation with rapt attention.

He was thoroughly enjoying himself.

This was the best drama he had seen in a long time.

But he was also deeply curious. He was beginning to understand something new about the being in front of him.

He only releases his power when it’s absolutely necessary, Void mused a newfound appreciation dawning on him. He is not just a mindless force of destruction.

He is controlled. This observation pleased Void immensely.

It suggested a level of control and a precision of power that he admired.

He was beginning to understand a little more about "Eric’s" character though this was of course a complete misunderstanding of the situation.

He was not observing Eric at all.

Kado on the other hand was not enjoying himself in the slightest. He was extremely nervous.

He was shifting uncomfortably in his seat next to Void. I don’t know why I sat next to him, he thought a cold sweat breaking out on his brow. He’s going to get himself killed.

And he’s going to take me with him! Kado was starting to regret his impulsive decision to join Adam at the front.

After a moment of contemplation a slow confident smile spread across Adam’s face.

"I am not aware of the process for forming a new group here," he admitted his voice calm and completely unbothered.

"But if I have decided that I will create a new group then no process and no person no matter how powerful will be able to stop me."

The Principal was not pleased with Adam’s arrogant response. His hands which were resting on the podium clenched into tight fists.

He gripped the edges of the heavy wooden lectern with such incredible force that cracks began to appear in the solid wood.

It was a testament to his barely contained rage his struggle to control his anger.

"You will need my signature," the Principal snarled his voice a low menacing growl.

"You will need the signatures of at least ten other professors and staff members. That is the rule. And if you fail to acquire them you can forget about forming any group. It will not be officially recognized. And let me assure you boy," he added his eyes boring into Adam

"that no professor here will give you their signature. Not after this display of disrespect. And I certainly will not give you mine. So how can you stand there and speak with such confidence? How will you create a group in this Academy? Answer me!"

This was the Principal’s true test.

He wanted to see if the boy’s intellect and his cunning matched the immense raw power he was projecting.

Would he be intimidated by this bureaucratic seemingly insurmountable obstacle? Or would he try to find a solution a way around the rules? This was the first true challenge for Adam as a self-proclaimed leader.

It was a test he had to pass if his new group The New Warriors was to have any hope of existing officially in the Academy.

The Principal was testing his mind not just his power.

Hearing the Principal’s words his clear statement of the rules a wave of relief and smug satisfaction washed over the upperclassmen in the crowd. They understood immediately what the Principal was doing.

The Principal did not want a new group to be formed.

He was going to stop this rebellion not with a fight but with rules.

Their confidence surged. They began to exchange sneering glances with each other.

They were already mentally planning how they would make Eric and his upstart followers pay for their audacity once this was all over. Once Eric failed to get the signatures they would be at their mercy.

The established order would be maintained. The rebellion would be crushed not by force but by the unyielding weight of the Academy’s own rules.

The system would prevail. The four groups would remain the only groups. They were sure of it. Eric had no chance.
