I'm Trapped Inside a Prince as the Most Powerful Entity-Chapter 152: A Burden Lifted
Chapter 152: A Burden Lifted
The familiar glowing interface of the [System Window] hovered silently before Eric. Its presence was a stark ethereal contrast to the mundane reality of the park bench and the setting sun.
"[Host Eric]" the neutral synthesized voice of Millennia resonated in his mind
"[I need to clarify some things for you. You are worrying too much about these matters. In my assessment your primary focus your only job should be solely on your training. Nothing else."
Hearing this a surge of frustration born from the overwhelming stress and confusion of the past few days finally boiled over in Eric.
He stared at the impassive glowing window. He spoke his voice rising with a desperate angry energy.
"I want to do just that! I want to just train!" he exclaimed.
His voice was a harsh whisper that was lost in the ambient sounds of the park.
"But because of your actions because of what you did I am trapped! I am stuck dealing with all these other things instead of focusing on my training! Why did you have to create a new group? What was the point of it all? And if you were going to create it why did you do it and then leave all the impossible work to me?! To get the Emperor’s signature! It’s impossible!" His words were a torrent of pent-up fear and a deep resentment for the situation he was in.
The [System Window] remained silent for a moment. It absorbed his outburst without any change in its placid glowing demeanor. Then it replied its voice as calm and unbothered as ever.
"[Host Eric I never said that I was leaving this work to you. The task of handling the Principal and all the professors in the auditorium... that was my task. And in the end it was I who completed that task. You did not have to do anything.]"
The System’s words were a simple statement of fact. Yet they struck Eric with a profound force. It was true. He hadn’t done anything. Adam or the System had done it all.
"[And as for the matter of creating a new group]" Millennia continued its logic irrefutable and cold
"[that too was an essential task. It was a necessary step to ensure your safety here. And it was done to allow you to train properly without the constant interference and harassment of the established factions. They would have tormented you. And as for the Emperor’s signature... let me remind you again Host Eric. This entire situation this entire chain of events was orchestrated by me. Therefore you should leave all these worries and all these difficult tasks to me. Your only responsibility right now is to go and eat your dinner and then rest for the night.]"
Eric was stunned into silence. He listened to the [System Window]’s words.
And for a few long quiet moments he simply sat there on the bench processing the information. A slow wave of relief so profound it was almost dizzying began to wash over him.
The immense crushing weight of responsibility that had been pressing down on his shoulders the impossible task of securing the
Emperor’s signature the fear of leading a new faction against all the upperclassmen... it was all being lifted from him. It was not his problem to solve.
A sense of peace an emotion he hadn’t felt since before he had even arrived at the Academy began to settle over him.
He looked at the [System Window] his earlier anger and fear replaced by a familiar if somewhat bewildered sense of gratitude. The System was always there to fix his problems.
"So," he asked his voice now a confused whisper
"you’re really going to handle everything? You... you know how to do it? You know how to get the Emperor’s signature?" He asked the question with a desperate hope.
Because from his perspective there was no conceivable path to success. It was an impossible task.
The [System Window] replied instantly its confidence absolute and unwavering. "[I know what I am doing Host Eric. I will not place you in a situation from which your extraction your escape would be... difficult. Trust in me.]"
Eric knew the [System Window]. From what little he had seen of its capabilities from all the times it had saved him he knew that it had always without fail come to his aid. It had saved him from situations that had seemed utterly hopeless.
And if the [System Window] was saying that it had already planned everything that it knew exactly what to do... then for the first time in a long time Eric allowed himself to believe it. He chose to trust it.
The knot of anxiety that had been twisting in his gut for days began to slowly finally unwind. He felt a burden lift.
The [System Window] spoke again. Its tone shifted to one of clear instruction.
"[Host Eric just as you trained today you must continue to push your body to its absolute limit every single day. In addition each time I or Master Adam take control of your body the latent powers within you are stimulated. They will intensify and they will grow. Through this process of training and possession you will become progressively more powerful. But in the meantime you must not be distracted by anything else. Your sole focus must be on your training. Leave the rest to me.]"
Hearing this a new powerful feeling began to stir within Eric. It was not the desperate panicked resolve he had felt earlier when he decided to train.
This was something different. It was pure motivation.
A clear path had been laid out before him.
His role was simple. He just had to train and become stronger.
The complex terrifying political and social maneuvering the impossible tasks... those were not his burden to bear. The System would handle it.
Forgetting all his earlier worries forgetting the fear and the pressure a genuine unburdened smile spread across Eric’s face. He stood up from the bench feeling lighter than he had in days.
He suddenly realized he was very hungry.
And for the first time since arriving at this intimidating Academy he was actually looking forward to tomorrow.
He turned and walked towards the dining hall ready to eat ready to rest and ready to begin his new life.
His life of training. He felt a new sense of purpose a new direction. It was a good feeling. He was no longer lost. He had a goal.
