I'm Trapped Inside a Prince as the Most Powerful Entity-Chapter 173: An Imperial Visit
Chapter 173: An Imperial Visit
The moment Monica realized that every student in the crowded cafeteria was now staring at her at their table a hot flush of embarrassment and anger washed over her.
She was the princess of the Empire a figure of grace and authority. And she was now the center of a petty public squabble a childish argument.
She took a deep steadying breath trying to regain her composure her calm. She looked at Eric. Her expression was now a mask of cold imperious disdain.
"You can have this table," she said her voice dripping with a forced icy calm.
With that she picked up her plate and turned to Alina.
"We will find another table," she stated. It was a clear non-negotiable command. She began to walk away expecting Alina to follow her without question.
But Alina seeing the futility of their search quickly grabbed Monica’s arm.
"But Monica," she said her voice a low urgent whisper "there are no other tables in the cafeteria. It’s completely full."
Monica stopped. She turned to look at Alina with a flash of pure unadulterated anger in her eyes. "What did you just say to me?" she hissed. She was not used to being contradicted.
Just then Silver who had been observing the exchange with a calm detached amusement stood up.
"Monica," she said her voice a soft melodic chime that somehow cut through the tense atmosphere
"Alina is right. There are no other empty tables in the cafeteria at this time. We looked everywhere before we sat down here."
Monica’s gaze swept across the vast crowded hall. She saw that Silver was indeed correct.
Every single table was occupied. It was a sea of students all of whom were still covertly watching their table.
With a frustrated almost pained sigh Monica slammed her plate back down on the table.
The noise made several nearby students jump. She then sat down her posture stiff with anger and resentment.
She glared at Eric. "Don’t you dare speak to me," she warned her voice a low menacing whisper.
Eric who had been watching this entire bizarre drama unfold looked at Alina. A bewildered almost apologetic smile was on his face.
Why do I feel, he thought a sense of profound almost comical resignation washing over him that all of this is somehow my fault? I just wanted to eat lunch.
He too sat back down. And an awkward tense silence descended upon their table.
After a short while the lunch period finally ended. The students began to disperse leaving the cafeteria. The tension at their table was finally broken.
But just then within Eric’s internal domain Adam who had been resting on his metaphorical sofa suddenly shot to his feet.
The Emperor is nearby, he thought a sense of alert predatory focus sharpening his senses. I can feel his powerful energy approaching.
The scene shifted.
Outside the main gates of the United Academy a contingent of elite Imperial soldiers stood at attention.
A grand opulent carriage far more impressive than any of the others that had arrived for the entrance examinations came to a halt. From it Emperor David himself emerged.
The moment he stepped out the numerous professors and the Principal himself who had all gathered at the gate to greet him bowed in unison.
The Principal stepped forward. He placed a hand over his chest and bowed deeply from the waist. It was a gesture of profound respect.
"Emperor," he said his voice filled with a genuine formal deference "welcome to the Academy."
The Emperor graciously accepted the Principal’s gesture of respect. He stepped forward. And in a surprisingly warm and familiar gesture he clasped the Principal on both shoulders. He then embraced him in a firm friendly hug.
"It is good to see you again Logan," the Emperor said. His voice lost its formal imperial tone. It was replaced now by the warm familiar tone of an old friend.
The Principal whose name was Logan also relaxed his formal demeanor. A genuine smile spread across his face as he returned the Emperor’s embrace. They were clearly very old friends.
The Emperor then stepped back a teasing glint in his eyes. "Well," he said "are you not going to invite me in to your famous Academy?"
Logan chuckled a warm friendly sound. "Of course David," he replied gesturing for the Emperor to enter. "Come in come in."
As they began to walk through the Academy grounds Logan looked at his old friend. A curious expression was on his face. "You arrived so suddenly David," he remarked. "I have a feeling this visit has something to do with the pressure you’ve been getting from your noble families recently."
The Emperor was silent for a few moments as they walked his expression unreadable. He did not answer right away. He just walked looking at the beautiful Academy grounds.
The Emperor after a moment of contemplative silence turned to the Principal. His expression was now serious. "Let us go to a room where we can speak privately Logan," he said his voice low and firm.
The Principal whose name was Logan understood immediately.
The matter the Emperor wished to discuss was a serious one. It was not to be discussed in the open campus.
He nodded his head. He led the Emperor away from the main thoroughfare of the campus towards his own private office.
A short while later the Principal and the Emperor were seated in a comfortable well-appointed room.
A large plush sofa faced an identical one. They were separated by a low elegant table with a polished glass top. There was no one else present in the room. They were completely alone. The room was soundproofed by magic.
The Emperor seated on one of the plush sofas leaned back. A weary tired expression was on his face. "Tell me everything Logan," he commanded his voice heavy with fatigue.
"Tell me about the incident between Eric and the Red Team in the cafeteria. I have heard rumors but I want to know the truth from you."
The Principal then began to recount the events that had transpired earlier that day in the cafeteria.
