I'm Trapped Inside a Prince as the Most Powerful Entity-Chapter 184: Unexpected Refusal
Chapter 184: Unexpected Refusal
Hearing the instructor Leon’s loud command all the students began to descend from their raised training platforms one by one. The shimmering energy barriers that had enclosed each pair winked out of existence.
The sounds of the large training hall rushed back in – the distant clang of other students training the murmur of conversations the echoing footsteps on the stone floor. Many of the first-years looked very tired from the sparring session.
The intensity of a one-on-one match with a partner they had just met had been draining for most.
The instructor spoke again his voice echoing in the large hall.
"All of you must learn each other’s shortcomings and strengths in this way. You must adapt to each other so that you can complete the future missions easily. Teamwork is essential at this Academy. An individual alone no matter how powerful is a weakness. A team that works together is a true weapon." Hearing this all the students looked at their new partners with a new understanding a new sense of shared purpose.
The instructor then said
"Today’s official class ends here. But this training session is not over for you yet. The grounds are still open for several more hours. If you want to continue to train with your partner you can. Otherwise you can go back to your groups and see to your important work."
Hearing this a collective sense of relief came over many of the students’ faces. They were tired and they wanted to rest to process the day’s events.
Eric hearing the instructor’s words just shook his head slightly. He thought to himself that he had to train a lot more. The brief match with Monica had shown him just how far he still had to go.
He would not be much involved in the politics and the social activities of his new group The New Warriors. That is the job of the System Window, he thought firmly. It will handle the group. My job is to get stronger. That is all that matters. Thinking this he turned to leave the platform.
But then Monica who was standing nearby still breathing a little heavily from their sparring session looked at Eric.
"Why don’t we both have another training match now?" she asked. Her voice was eager. Her eyes were shining with a competitive fire that hadn’t been there before their match. "I think we can learn more from each other."
Hearing this Eric looked at Monica. He saw the genuine eagerness in her expression. A part of him was tempted. Sparring with her had been exhilarating. It had pushed him. It had shown him a new level of skill.
He thought for a few seconds then he shook his head.
"No," he said his voice polite but firm. "I have some other work I need to do right now. We can train again tomorrow." Saying this Eric walked away from the platform. He left a surprised and clearly disappointed Monica standing there.
A sad expression came over Monica’s face. She had wanted to fight with Eric as much as possible. She felt that sparring with him that clash of power and skill was making her stronger. It was forcing her to push her own limits in a way that no other student had ever done before.
But hearing Eric’s refusal his rejection of her offer she was very disappointed. She watched him walk away a strange feeling of loss in her chest.
Then Gold and Silver came up quietly behind her. They moved with their usual silent grace. "Aren’t you going to the Golden Group’s meeting Princess Monica?" Gold asked her voice a soft melodic chime.
Hearing their voices Monica turned. She looked at them and forced a smile onto her face trying to hide her disappointment. "Yes," she said her voice a little brighter than she felt.
"Yes let’s go." The three of them then turned and walked away together rejoining the other members of their powerful faction.
The scene then shifts. We see Eric. He is not with his group. He is not resting in his dormitory. He is at the individual training ground the one he had used the day before. And he is once again fighting.
He is fighting with more than five Imperial soldier clones at the "hard" difficulty level.
The number had increased from the three he had fought previously. But he can now handle these powerful armored soldiers quite easily. His movements are faster his strikes more precise his defense more solid.
On the other side of the vast Academy campus a group of students stood in a loose uncertain huddle outside their dormitory building. The midday sun was high in the sky casting short shadows on the stone courtyard.
This was The New Warriors the fledgling faction created just two days ago. All eighty members were there their faces a mixture of lingering excitement from the previous day’s events and a growing sense of confusion.
They were waiting for Eric. They had finished their morning classes and had gathered as a group as he had implicitly suggested they should. But their leader was nowhere to be seen.
Void and Kado were also waiting there with them. They stood a little apart from the main group trying to project an air of confidence they did not feel. They didn’t understand what Eric was thinking. He had created this group in front of the entire Academy. He had challenged the established order.
He had even convinced the Principal a figure of immense authority to allow its formation. This was something no one had ever thought possible.
And when a member of this new group Ryan was attacked he had fought against that trouble alone. He had taken on the entire Red Team for one of them. He had shown them his incredible power.
Seeing this all the members of this new group were very happy. They felt a sense of pride a sense of belonging to something new and powerful. But now they were waiting for their leader to tell them what to do next.
Like the other powerful groups the members of this group also wanted to do activities. They wanted to take on missions. They wanted to earn points and spread their respect their fame throughout the Academy. They wanted everyone to recognize them as a real and powerful faction not just a temporary rebellion.
But none of the members in the group knew where Eric had gone. He had simply disappeared after their morning class had ended. Kado who was growing more impatient by the minute looked over at Void. Void was leaning casually against a nearby stone wall looking unbothered.
"I have a feeling that Eric is not coming here," Kado said his voice a low grumble of frustration. "He’s not going to show up is he? What kind of leader just disappears?"
Hearing Kado’s words Void who had been watching the other students with a detached amusement just shook his head slowly. He was starting to think Kado was right. Eric’s behavior was very strange.
Then the scene shifted again.
We see the world inside Eric’s body. Adam was in his own internal domain. He was resting on his metaphorical sofa observing the world through Eric’s senses.
He could feel all of this. He could feel the growing impatience and confusion of his new group members. Now that Millennia his System Interface was also connected to all the members through their individual Sub-System Windows she could sense their emotions too. She could even sense what was happening around them.
She was like a vast network of spies feeding him information. Adam opened his eyes. He found Millennia the glowing blue interface hovering silently in front of him.
Seeing Millennia Adam said his voice a low growl of pure frustration "This fool Eric. He could at least show his face to all his group members. They are waiting for him. He is supposed to be their leader."
Millennia hearing Adam’s words of frustration said nothing. It just hovered there its light pulsing softly.
Then Adam let out a deep sigh. He looked at Millennia and said
"Allocate a new mission to all the group members. Send it through their Sub-Systems right now. Tell them that their first and only task for this week is to increase their own strength. That is their mission from their leader. And," he added a new idea forming in his mind
"as soon as all the team members work hard in the training ground for some time as soon as they show some real effort then you should increase their magical power and their stats. Give them a reward for their hard work a boost to their abilities."
Hearing this Millennia hesitated a little. The light of its blue interface flickered for a moment. Then it spoke its synthesized voice calm and factual.
"[My Lord Adam I do not have enough power to increase the stats of all eighty group members. That would require a vast amount of energy. At most with my current energy reserves I can only increase the stat points of three people at a time.]"
Hearing this Adam thought for a few seconds. He then said "Don’t worry about that Millennia. I will provide you with the energy you need. If you are short of energy I will give you some of my own."
Hearing this new instruction Millennia remained silent for a few seconds. It was processing this new information.
Then it said "[If you are ready to give your own power My Lord then this is possible. I can do as you command.]"
Adam had found a way to make his new group stronger much faster than any other group. He would use his own immense power to do it.
The New Warriors were about to get a very big and a very pleasant surprise. Their training was about to become much more effective. Their loyalty would be secured not just by promises but by real tangible results.
Adam smiled. The game was becoming more interesting.
