Chapter 219: Chapter 219: New Era

"Sir, are you going to call for a board meeting to decide?"

While Trent was lost in thoughts, his personal assistant called him, bringing him out of the remembrance lane.

"Huh?" Trent raised his head like he was lost.

Generally, he could just sit back and leave these decisions to Leo. Success and failure were attached to those decisions. Even if they failed, it wasn’t going to be his fault.

Unfortunately, it was different this time. This time, he couldn’t just walk the path that others had prepared for him. He had to take the lead, if he wanted to get ahead in this race.

After all, unlike before, the Alpha Corporation wasn’t a mere organization. It was a place that could decide the life and death of billions of people.

If he could become the Vice Chairman of this organization, he was going to be just below one person and above everyone else.

Although he didn’t wish for it, if something happened to Leo in the future, then he was going to become the Chairman of Alpha Corporation without any fight for succession.

If he was still part of a Board of Decision Makers at that time, and not the Vice Chairman, then the succession was going to be even harder.

"I can convince Ulien. But it will be hard to convince the other two board members. It looks like we need to put some pressure on them through a board meeting."

Trent took a deep breath, and made a decision. He was going to call a board meeting and put his foot down. Even if they didn’t agree, he had to make them accept this decision.

Fortunately, he already had one vote, excluding his own vote.

Ulien, the Grand Archmage, who was now leading the construction for Alpha Corp, was also a board member after all.

Although Ulien and Yang had joined Leo at the same time, Leo had appointed Ulien at the board as he was a mage, and didn’t think with his fist, unlike Yang.

It was also a precautionary measure. Unlike the other board members, Ulien was strong. Even if someone wanted to target the board members, Ulien could survive and keep the company going, preventing a hostile takeover in case of Leo’s death.

As for what was going to happen if Ulien was the one who targeted the board to take the power, Leo had already placed a contingency plan in place for that

Fortunately, unlike the others that had risen from lower positions, Ulien was far less interested in any power or wealth.

After all, as a Pioneer of the Magic Path on his planet, what hadn’t he experienced? Wealth and money was something that he couldn’t care less about.

In fact when Leo first offered him a board position, Ulien had outright ignored and rejected it. It took Leo a lot of effort to convince him.

In the end, he was successful in convincing Ulien, in turn tying that powerhouse to the Alpha Corporation.

If Alpha Corporation was a sect, then Ulien would’ve been no different than a Guardian of this Sect that protected this place.

As long as Ulien was tied to this place, Yang was also going to stay. After all, they had shared the same prison floor for decades, forming something akin to a friendship.

With one decision, Leo had tied two powerhouses to him.

Trent was unaware of the real reason for Ulien’s position in the board. He thought it was simply because Ulien was now the Leader of the Construction Industry of the Alpha Corp, just like he was the leader of the banking industry.

Ulien lived on this planet, and they often saw each other. It wasn’t wrong for him to believe that he was somewhat closer to Ulien than the other two board members.

That’s why he believed that he could at least make Ulien support him in the board meeting. The only problem was the other two.

"I really hope that they are wise enough to see the right path. I hope that they won’t prevent the path of growth for Alpha Corp."

Just like that, messages for a new board meeting were sent out, which was to decide the company’s future.

At the same time, Trent also invited Ulien for a drink.

Meanwhile, the girl who had taken the position after Piccolo, leading the Alpha Corporation’s Research Division wasn’t much different from Trent.

Her ambition had also started to grow, albeit for a different reason.

Just like that, new gears were set in motion for the Alpha Corporation. An invisible greed of power and competition had already started sleeping in.

....

It was unknown how long Leo was unconscious, his body almost dying of thirst.

Fortunately, someone appeared to have saved him from becoming food for the man-eating tree.

Leo didn’t even know how lucky he was, to have survived these last few days, especially the dungeon and then the forest.

He didn’t know how long it had been when he started to come to his senses.

He expected to find himself on the ground that was filled with leaves, the place where he had passed out. However, before he could even open his eyes, he felt like the bed beneath him was extremely soft.

For a moment, he wondered if everything that he had seen was just a dream. Was he still sleeping on his comfortable bed back home?

He expected to see a familiar ceiling when he opened his eyes, smiling that it was all just a dream.

Unfortunately, when he opened his eyes, his lips parted a little. Although there was a ceiling, it was far from a familiar one.

The only thing that was worth a relief was that he wasn’t in the forest. And his throat wasn’t dry either.

He slowly pushed his body up. Although he was still weak, it was nowhere close to when he had felt before he had passed out.

The first thing he did was look at his leg after removing the blanket.

He had hoped for it to be a lie, but his leg was still wounded. It became even more clear that everything he went through was not a dream.

It was a cruel reality that he was teleported to a dungeon, and was now stuck in a different world.

The only thing worth relief was that he had at least found a settlement. It was clear that a human had discovered him in the forest, and brought him here.

He even saw the wound dressing was changed into a proper one. Even his clothes that were stained in blood, were lying on a chair next to him.

He was instead wearing a blue gown. At least his life wasn’t in danger, and he was safe.

"This doesn’t look like a hospital. It looks like an ordinary bedroom. Did an ordinary person save me? But why wouldn’t they take me to a hospital?"

Leo looked at his surroundings, noticing the room that didn’t have much. Still, at least it wasn’t as modest as his bedroom when he was poor.

There was a bed in this room, with a soft mattress on which he was lying.

There was also a wooden table, which appeared to have lost some color. It wasn’t a large table, but on earth, it could’ve been enough to be used as a computer desk, coming up to a human’s waist.

Other than that, there was a mirror in the far corner of the room. It was angled in such a manner that he couldn’t see his reflection on it.

The air in the room had the scent of old-aged paper and some incense. Sunlight, filtered through Victorian era curtains in the room.

The floor, albeit not the most beautiful he had seen, looked decent and had an old charm to itself as it was covered with a carpet.

A single brass lamp was lying on a nearby bedside table, as if perfectly placed for him to use when it was dark.

In another bedside table, there was a golden jug filled with water. There was a glass with a similar design next to it, as if waiting for him to pick them up and drink water if he was thirsty.

The entire place looked strange in Leo’s eyes. It looked like the design patterns used in the old era, at least as per the books he had read.

"Did I arrive in a world which is on the same stage of development as the Victorian Era? If that’s the case, they definitely won’t have any ships that can take me home, or even a way to contact home...

Leo was lost with his own thoughts when he suddenly felt a noise.

From the hallway beyond the heavy oak frame, the rhythmic sound of footsteps began. They were slow, but growing louder with every passing second. The floorboards outside occasionally creaked with the footsteps.

The brass handle turned with a weak sound. Slowly, the door began to swing inward.
