I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!-Chapter 249: The Afterlife
Leo casually stepped inside the main branch of the Alpha Bank. As for the formation, let alone stopping him, it was as if it was actively welcoming him.
After all, the core of the formation was created as per his orders and his identity was always supreme in this place. Even Skrax didn’t know about this back door that Leo had left behind.
It wasn’t just in this formation, but in everything that could be considered important. It was like the source code itself had a bug that only he could use.
It allowed him to easily gain access to the internal systems of Alpha Corp without leaving even the slightest trace behind.
Of course, he rarely did that in the past. It was just a hidden detail that he left behind in case of emergency.
Leo strolled inside the building, even stepping on a few notes that were issued and marked with the unique stamp of the Galactic Union which made it impossible to forge them.
Looking at so much money, even Leo was a little taken aback. He had always wondered what it would look like to have his money in the physical form and to swim in that.
However, it was too bothersome for a fleeting moment of entertainment so he didn’t try that.
Now that he had it here, he couldn’t let his curiosity go to waste and jumped in the mountain of soft notes, swimming inside. However, it was less like swimming and more like drowning in the mountain of notes.
It took him some effort to climb out. As he kept strolling inside, he didn’t do anything drastic. He simply checked a few electric switches.
"I am just making sure that there are no electric fault lines. As an owner, isn’t it nice of me to check if everything is working properly?"
He said out loud, as if trying to convince himself. Or rather, it was more like something he said for the sake of his system, trying to convince it.
As an owner, it was completely normal for him to check his buildings and wiring.
After he checked, he even showed shocked expressions, as if he noticed some problems. He cut a few wires and cross connected them, sighing in relief.
"Good. Now there should be no problem. It would’ve been a big problem if I hadn’t noticed it, and there happened to be some big fire that burned all this money into nothing."
Leo took a deep breath, appearing like he had achieved a massive thing by saving the money.
He did the same thing with a few other places.
It was only after he reached his office in the building that he took a seat.
"Hmm, Skrax has changed the interior of this place a lot. It looks very flashy. Unfortunately, I can’t meet him on this trip. Since I’m leaving later, I should leave him a gift. It would be perfectly natural, right? As a boss, it’s my duty."
He stood up after a brief period of rest, and summoned a few canisters from his storage ring which were filled with highly flammable gasoline.
"The price of gasoline is rising rapidly. Skrax can sell this later and earn a hefty profit later, right?"
He again revealed a compassionate expression of a nice boss.
"Hmm? Is that a new painting?" After placing the canisters around the office, he suddenly looked back, and noticed a new painting.
While appreciating, he took a few steps back, and ’accidentally’ kicked a canister which just happened to be loosely closed.
As soon as the canister fell, it started spilling out.
Leo revealed a surprise look before calming down.
"Oops... It’s fine. Skrax can have it cleaned later. It’s only one after all..."
He ignored the spilled gasoline that had formed a puddle around the rest of the canisters.
He stepped over the puddle which was only getting bigger and stepped out of the office room.
He took another hour as he continued strolling, and checking a few more wiring for faults.
On the way out, his feet ’accidentally’ pulled a wire from a socket, but after stumbling, he regained his balance and ignored it.
"Now that I have confirmed that my employees have a good workplace, I can rest easy. Sigh, who told me to be such a good boss that I have to worry about them so much?"
He shook his head lightly as he stepped out of the building. He closed the door and took another glance at it before he stepped out of the formation.
On this trip, he didn’t inform anyone about his arrival either. In fact, he was even planning to leave just as secretly as he came.
However, the moment he stepped out, he was taken aback to find a familiar silhouette outside. It looked like the person was actually waiting for him here.
His expressions slightly fluctuated, but he soon calmed down. Fortunately, out of everyone that could have seen him, it happened to be him... The person who was strongest yet the most innocent because his entire life was spent immersed in martial arts.
Even though it made him as strong as a god, he was still someone that easily believed things that no one else would. If it wasn’t the case, he wouldn’t have believed the story of one punch sage...
"You are alive...?" The man asked in disbelief. He was none other than Yang, who was freed by Leo from the unnamed prison.
Yang stood there, his tall body trembling like a leaf in a storm. His eyes were wide open.
He had also heard that Leo had died. He had been in grief all this time as well, wondering why he wasn’t there to save Leo. He even wondered if Leo had died because he was searching for the whereabouts of one punch sage for him because of that promise.
He even felt guilty, believing that Leo had died because of him. Of course, it was all a grand story he made up for himself, all because Leo had left him a message that he was going out to find the one punch sage for him.
Leo blinked. He hadn’t expected Yang to be here. Although this person was quite innocent in certain matters, but he was also someone who was very straightforward. If this matter wasn’t handled well, this news was definitely going to reach Ulien’s ears.
Thinking fast, Leo let his shoulders slump and exhaled a long breath, partly for effect, partly because the evening air was actually quite chilly.
"Yang," Leo said, his voice dropping a little, sounding lifeless. "You can see me? Truly, your cultivation has reached a frightening level to be able to glance across the veil between the world of the living and the dead." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Yang’s knees buckled. A man who could crack a continent with a stomp was currently looking for a place to faint. "The... the veil? Leo, are you... are you a...?"
"A restless spirit. A ghost..." Leo sighed, looking wistfully at the bank doors. "Alas, yes. I have returned to the scene of my greatest regret as my last wish before I completely disappear... It’s a heavy burden, Yang. Even in the afterlife, a boss’s work is never done."
Yang took a frantic step back, crossing his fingers in a warding gesture he’d probably seen in a low-budget movie during his time here.
Even though he was strong to the point of having almost no rivals, if anything could scare him, it was ghosts that couldn’t be explained with common sense.
During his time here, he had also become accustomed to watching martial arts movies, along with a few horror flicks occasionally.
He had seen the strange means of ghosts that could pull a person into the greatest hell after appearing in a closet or under the bed.
Even though everyone said that ghosts weren’t real, he was still apprehensive. And now he was seeing a ghost before him?
ZAP!
A loud spark echoed from inside the building. The ’faulty wiring’ Leo had so thoughtfully installed was beginning to have a very heated conversation with the puddle of gasoline.
"It looks like this world can’t accept my presence. I have no place in the world of the living... If I stay here for long, my presence only lead to misfortune... Please leave unless you want to become a ghost with me as well..."
While Leo was keeping Yang distracted, a fire had slowly started inside the bank. It started from a faulty wire, especially as the power demand increased.
Within seconds, the flames rashed the pile of cash and started burning it fiercely.
Still, the wiring had left a trace of being mishandled. To erase even those traces, Leo had left the gasoline to blow up the entire place without alerting his system and making it appear as if he was intentionally destroying his money.
After all, he couldn’t destroy it on his own, and ruin his returns after the month ended. He had to lose money through investments or accidents...
After all, he didn’t burn the money. He was just checking his building. It wasn’t his fault that he didn’t know how to correct the wiring and misjudged the situation.
At the moment, Leo was only worried that the explosion was going to take him with it if he didn’t get far away in time.
Meanwhile, he could still see that Yang’s face was pale from fear. He didn’t even care about the fire or maybe he didn’t sense it because he was so distracted.
"I shouldn’t have come to the world of living. It looks like the heavens can’t accept my arrival. They are planning to send a divine punishment." Leo said without any hesitation.
