Immortal In A Death Game-Chapter 190: A Taste Of What Was To Come
[Vaydrael warns Adam not to challenge the Universe, or he and his world would risk early demise. This is not a threat, but a warning.]
None of them could wrap their heads around this. A warning?
The Administrator showed itself, not to punish Adam, but to warn him? Throughout history, humanity’s perception of the Administrators has been split into three main factions.
One group views them as a natural phenomenon, a calamity simply following the course of nature, much like a storm. Another believes them to be malevolent alien overlords, treating humanity as little more than a form of entertainment. A third faction worships them as benevolent angels, envoys sent by a god, the god, or gods.
Whatever these factions believed in, however, there was one truth they all shared—the Administrators were not to be trifled with.
But of course, there was one who didn’t share that notion at all.
Adam gritted his teeth, then did something that made everyone even more nervous... he actually pointed at the Administrator’s face.
"Why are you making us kill each other?" he asked without fear. "Why not just get it over with and kill all of us?"
The researchers gasped, some stepping back in terror. But they were also extremely curious, pushing closer to each other, straining to hear every word of this impossible conversation.
[The Administrator, Vaydrael, does not have permission to answer.]
"You can’t... answer?" Adam shook his head. "We’re not your entertainment. And if we are, then the least we deserve is a fucking explanation."
Vaydrael stared down at Adam, then looked up at the sky, quiet for several seconds.
[Vaydrael was granted permission.]
And as soon as those words appeared in front of everyone there, Vaydrael spread its arms wide, and suddenly the air shimmered.
And soon, what looked like Earth materialized between its hands, along with several other worlds, all rotating slowly in miniature.
Vaydrael pointed at Earth.
[Administrator Vydrael is showing Planet: SS4E.]
"...Earth," Adam whispered.
Vaydrael gestured with its fingers, sprinkling something that looked like stardust... and these sprinkles started to fly toward Earth.
"That’s..." Those behind Adam held their breath—no, they gasped. Those who remembered that fated day twenty years ago began to quake.
It was vivid in their minds—those sprinkles weren’t dust, not at all. They were behemoths. Behemoths dropping from the sky, city-sized meteors that pushed through clouds like they were nothing.
And the sound... that sound that was almost a song. A call. A call that sucked the air from their lungs.
They remembered how drowning and suffocating it felt to see, even from afar, the way the asteroids displaced the very atmosphere above them. That day was supposed to be the end of the world.
Well, perhaps the world did end.
The older researchers felt the same terror, holding their breath as the memory played out in miniature before them. Dr. Sarah snapped out of her trance first, her curiosity winning over her.
And then, they all watched as the sprinkles also went to the other planets.
"There it is..." Dr. Sarah nodded grimly. Scientists and everyone else had long known this truth. It was already indicated in the status windows of Creeps—there were other planets, with other people, all suffering from the Game.
Adam watched with wide eyes as Vaydrael clasped its wrists together while opening its palms. A pair of eyes appeared, one on each hand.
"More... eyes?" Adam stepped back as the eyes stared directly at him.
Vaydrael slowly spun its hands, and all the planets rotated in place at insane speed. Adam watched Earth’s continents stick together, then turn red, before Vaydrael stopped the rotation.
Vaydrael gently pushed Earth away, then grabbed two other planets.
It brought the two worlds close together, then pointed at Adam, then at one of the planets.
Thousands of specks of bright, glowing dust emerged from both planets—six from each side clashed together in the space between the worlds. They created several sparks... until one side began to fade away.
The specks of dust left behind from the losing side also faded one by one. At the end, Vaydrael grabbed the defeated planet and crushed it with her hand.
"Kh..." Adam gritted his teeth, his head instinctively shaking. He knew exactly what the Administrator was trying to tell him, but still he asked,
"What... what does that mean?"
Vaydrael pulled Earth back, then brought forward another planet. Adam stared in horror at the miniature Earth. But... nothing happened. Vaydrael just shook its head.
[Administrator Vaydrael says planet: SS4E is not ready.]
Vaydrael gently flicked its finger, causing all the planets to disappear.
[Administrator Vaydrael is saying that a lot of Administrators are curious about Adam.]
It then floated closer to Adam, its fingers slowly reaching for his forehead.
Adam backed away, swatting the hand aside. Vaydrael didn’t seem to think much of the rejection. But slowly... a smile formed on its face.
Once again, it showed teeth similar to those of whales—like needles, baleen plates. Everyone felt uncomfortable seeing that unnatural grin. It was as if the Administrator was trying to make itself feel gentle, but failing all the same.
Vaydrael opened its mouth further, but—.
[Administrator Vaydrael no longer has permission to say anything further.]
[The Administrator, Laphael, wants to visit Planet: SS4E. Not allowed, energy would destroy the planet.]
"Laphael, again...?" Adam whispered, staring at Vaydrael. "Who is he? He’s been saying he recognizes me."
[The Administrator, Vaydrael, says that Laphael is an Elder Administrator.]
"Wh—"
[Vaydrael is no longer allowed to say anything else.]
"What...?" He sighed heavily. "Billions more are suffering outside this planet. For what reason? Why are you pitting us against each other?"
Vaydrael opened its palms again, once more materializing the planets in miniature.
This time, however, Vaydrael extended its left hand to the left, away from the cluster of worlds... unseen.
Adam looked, and there was something forming there—something vast and dark that made the planets look like specks of dust.
But before it could fully manifest, the text appeared again.
[The Administrator, Vaydrael, does not have permission to say anything further.]
