Chapter 245: Chapter 241: Bloody Castle 22

The already cramped space inside the cage was overtaken by thorny vines.

Josh had no choice but to climb up using the cage bars.

Quickly turned her body to avoid the vines.

Her slender figure deftly dodged the vines on the floor in the narrow cage.

But no matter how agile, she couldn’t withstand the continuous attacks.

Josh’s stamina was rapidly depleting.

She struggled to hang onto the cage bars to avoid the vine’s attacks, but because she was too slow, her arm got cut.

The vine wrapped around her slender ankle, seemingly trying to drag her underground.

Josh quickly grabbed the bars, her ankle tightly entangled by the thorny vine, pulling her up and down.

At her ankle, the thorns pierced her skin, blood dripping to the ground, splattering like blossoms of blood.

"Mmm..." The person on the bed suddenly turned over, seemingly disturbed by the slight noise.

The vines swiftly retracted underground, vanishing from sight.

Josh fell onto the floor, wincing in pain.

She hurriedly crawled to a nearby mat and sat down, looking at the wound on her foot.

"I haven’t gone to catch anyone, and the little one fell into my cage herself." The man’s voice was slightly hoarse, as if he had just woken up.

Josh raised her head, but all she saw was darkness, as if something was deliberately preventing her from seeing the man’s face clearly.

"Sorry, I didn’t mean to intrude on your territory," Josh said.

The man walked to the cage and unlocked it.

Josh warily placed her knife behind her, watching as the man with the darkened face walked in, picked her up and set her on the couch outside.

He seemed to have no malicious intent.

Josh discreetly observed him.

This NPC seemed like someone she’d seen in the study before, the voice was very similar.

She tentatively asked, "Did we meet in the study?"

He didn’t answer her, instead he grabbed her ankle and applied medicine.

Josh wanted to say something else, but he suddenly interrupted her, "How did you get in?"

Josh answered truthfully, "I accidentally fell into a tunnel and slid in."

The man chuckled, "You went into that room?"

"Which one?" Josh looked at the silhouette in front of her, "Do you mean the toy room?"

The silhouette said nothing more, just pressed a button on the bedside, then advised her, "Don’t go near that room again next time."

Soon a maid was summoned.

The maids looked peculiar, as if both frightful and reverent, they came in and carried Josh out.

Josh was sent back to her room, where someone thoughtfully brought her fresh food.

Does that mean she could skip lunch at the dining hall?

That man seemed to be a very important figure.

Shortly after, a maid brought a bowl of fresh red broth, its strong scent of roses subtly mixed with the faint smell of blood.

Josh frowned slightly, "What is this?"

The maid respectfully said, "It is rose juice, apply this on the wound and it will heal quickly."

Josh wanted to say something more, but they had already stepped out, as if fearing she might ask anything further.

She twitched the corners of her mouth, suspiciously peering at the contents of the bowl.

The man seemingly bore her no ill will.

Thinking it through without hesitation, she poured the rose juice over her wound.

A cool sensation spread over the wound, and sure enough, it healed quickly.

Such a miraculous thing, she was witnessing for the first time.

Considering it was inside a quest, it was not surprising.

She got out of bed and moved around, there was no discomfort in the wound.

Seems she was quite fortunate, the morning had been very rewarding.

She had maxed out the chef’s favorability, obtained the prince’s diary, unlocked the prince’s tragic childhood, and made contact with that mysterious NPC.

She had a hunch that NPC was definitely very important.

Everything seemed excessively smooth for her.

She couldn’t help feeling that the quest might be unintentionally biased in her favor, everything went exceedingly well.

She got up and went to Thomas to register for a room change.

In the morning, she had killed three people, any room change would suffice.

However, upon reaching Thomas’s office, there was no one there. Grabbing a maid and inquiring, she was informed that Thomas was weeding in the courtyard.

She quickly headed to the courtyard, seeing Thomas leading a group to pull up the prickly bushes and roses.

A nearby bonfire was set up, where the maids were burning the uprooted thorny bushes.

The sky roared with wind, howl resounded, Josh caught a faint scream from the vines.

She walked up to Thomas, "Mr. Thomas."

Seeing her, Thomas became noticeably more respectful, "Miss Josh."

Josh was surprised by his unusual demeanor, though kept an inscrutable expression as she asked, "Why the sudden need for weeding? Aren’t the thorns and roses quite pretty in the courtyard?"

Thomas smiled politely, "It’s the Prince’s order, saying that the thorns easily scratch people and so shouldn’t be planted."

Just as he finished speaking, the flames in the bonfire suddenly flared up, as if in a helpless struggle.

Thomas quickly nudged Josh to the side, "Stand over there, don’t let the flames burn you."

Though he spoke warmly, his eyes glancing at the flames held an icy coldness.

The flames instantly became much more subdued.

Josh unnoticedly observed all this, then suddenly smiled, "Is that so, then the Prince’s orders are important. I’m just here to change rooms, here’s my room key."

Thomas took the key from her hand and smiled, "You’ve been the first to come change rooms for several days in a row, doing well. Now I’m moving you to an advanced bedroom, you won’t need to swap rooms with others anymore, you can have exclusive bedroom use."

Josh took the key from his hand, glanced at it, "This is... a fourth-floor room?"

Thomas smiled and nodded.

Josh squinted, "I remember the fourth floor rooms are where the Prince resides, aren’t they?"

Thomas maintained his composed smile, "Of course not just that, new VIP guest rooms have been opened recently, only guests who perform well are granted residence on the fourth floor."

Obviously, he was determined to relocate her to the fourth floor.

Josh accepted the key with a smile, "Alright, thank you, Mr. Thomas."

Meaning, from today onwards, she wouldn’t need to change rooms anymore.

"This isn’t fair!" A sharp woman’s voice suddenly broke out beside her.

Josh thought another ghost had emerged in broad daylight, but when she turned around, she found Mina standing behind her.

"Miss Mina." Josh smiled politely.

Two teams of twins had perished, leaving only her and Mina as the surviving young girls in all the groups.

Fuming, Mina rushed over to question, "Why can Josh sleep on the fourth floor while we can only stay in those haunted rooms? Do you have any idea since we arrived at this castle, I haven’t had a single good night’s sleep! My dark circles are so heavy they look like I got punched twice!"

Josh curiously asked, "Why not sleep?"
