In Another World, Everyone Want to Kill Me!-Chapter 277: Reversal of Internal Energy Flow
Shang Qinghua tapped his folding fan against his palm and studying Yue Mingxuan carefully.
After a long pause, he nodded.
"Very well. When you practice, I’ll stand guard beside you. I’ll also have Mo Yi posted at the door to keep anyone from approaching."
Yue Mingxuan waved a hand dismissively, he then lowering his head to continue reading the scroll. "That won’t be necessary."
Earlier that noon, Yin Su had already received word and was waiting in the side chamber well in advance.
For the next few days, she would be staying here, though no one knew how long it would last.
Over at Flying Opera Group, Gu Xiang had already begun to harbor suspicions about her and had even made subtle attempts to probe.
Yin Su remained calm in the face of it.
Let others say what they would, she carried on with her quiet life within the group. Though she was not assigned missions, she occasionally went out for leisure.
All in all, she lived rather freely.
Yue Mingxuan had summoned her temporarily for two reasons.
One was to let her avoid Gu Xiang.
As the saying went, if you couldn’t afford to provoke someone, you could at least avoid them, though Yue Mingxuan was certain Gu Xiang was no match for Yin Su.
In such turbulent times, it was better to have one less complication.
Rong Zishenn still lingered near the entrance from time to time, trying to glimpse what was happening inside.
Unfortunately for him, the people of Qingyun Pavilion were the most tight-lipped of all.
By the time Yue Mingxuan finished his evening practice, the courtyard had already grown quiet...
Recently, all affairs of Flying Opera Group had been handed over to Gu Xiang, with Tang Lubao instructed to assist her more.
Yue Mingxuan did not wish to succeed in his own endeavors only to drag Flying Opera Group down with him.
"Then I’ll begin."
Separated by a thin veil of red gauze, Yue Mingxuan sat cross-legged on the bed.
Outside, on the cushioned couch, sat Shang Qinghua and Gongsun Xing.
Gongsun Xing had been summoned by Shang Qinghua as a precaution if Yue Mingxuan suffered a deviation in his internal energy, Gongsun Xing could sever the meridians in time.
No one knew how grave the consequences might be.
Yue Mingxuan drew in a deep breath and closed his eyes.
Afteretting his internal energy sink to his dantian, he began to guide the true energy within his body.
The first level, reversal of internal energy flow.
Reversing one’s internal energy was an excruciating process.
It felt as though the internal organs were being wrenched out of place.
Barely ten minutes in, Yue Mingxuan was drenched in sweat.
He truly could not understand, Consort Wan had been so breathtakingly beautiful.
With her face alone, she could have dominated the entire harem.
Unless Empress Suyin had been even more beautiful, who could possibly have rivaled her?
Then why would she cultivate such a sinister and unorthodox martial art?
The very first level required reversing the internal energy flow and there were ten levels in total.
During the day, he, Gongsun Xing and Shang Qinghua had studied it together.
They concluded that Consort Wan had most likely begun to lose control around the seventh level.
The reason was unknown, but from that point on she could no longer properly restrain the turbulent qi surging within her.
In the end, she had fallen into deviation.
Judging from her paintings, deviation resembled what people in the modern world might call a split personality.
She seemed to imagine an enemy and even fought against herself.
Their speculation was that after she went mad from the deviation, those in the palace believed she had lost her mind.
When she died, she was buried in that desolate place.
So then, who had carved the markings into the wall?
Gongsun Xing watched as the red gauze swayed gently in the breeze drifting in through the window.
An entire hour had passed.
There was not a single sound from within.
Later on, he could not even hear breathing.
He turned to look at Shang Qinghua.
The prince forced himself to sit steady and composed, but the folding fan in his hand had long since stilled.
His gaze remained fixed on the bed, as though willing some sound to emerge from behind the curtain.
But after a long while, there was only silence.
At that moment, Yue Mingxuan felt several forces clashing violently inside his body, like little figures fighting, one throwing punches, another landing kicks.
Each blow struck at his organs, leaving him in indescribable agony.
His entire body was soaked in sweat. Yet he could not make a sound.
He did not even know that those outside could no longer sense his presence.
And yet, he could hear everything beyond the veil.
Even the chirping of cicadas outside reached his ears with startling clarity.
The stillness was terrifying.
He did not know whether Gongsun Xing and Shang Qinghua had spoken and he simply could not hear them.
The door creaked open.
Shang Qinghua looked up just in time to see a young woman in white step inside.
She wore a gentle smile; her face was like a blooming peach blossom.
Her hair was coiled up neatly, secured with a single silver hairpin.
Yin Su glanced at the two men from afar and bent gracefully in greeting.
Then she stood by the doorway, focusing her senses inward, trying to detect the flow of internal energy within the room.
Red gauze. White robes.
Even the thought of it was enough to unsettle one’s nerves.
She had been waiting outside all along.
At first, she could sense Yue Mingxuan’s unstable breathing and the turbulence of his internal energy, it felt painful, chaotic.
But gradually, everything faded.
Even his breathing disappeared.
She waited and waited, yet no sound came from within.
Knowing that Shang Qinghua and Gongsun Xing were present, she had not been overly worried.
But more than an hour had passed and there was still nothing.
